Have any celebrities gone missing?!

No AIBU just posting here as more people use this topic.

I know being famous means you cannot leave your old life and start again like some missing people must.

Some people just vanish though don't they? Taking no money or ID.

Can people just "disappear? I know a lot of these people will have been murdered and no evidence found but how come it hadn't happened to anyone famous.

Had a drink tonight abs I can't really put it into words what I'm trying to say.

John Deacon was my first thought too. I don't believe he ever officially retired, just quietly disappeared from the public eye around 1997 and has only been seen two or three times since. His youngest son is a blogger and occasionally mentions him in passing, and this is the only proof fans have that he's still alive. He was incredibly shy, even in Queen's heyday, and didn't enjoy the limelight at all. I like to believe he's living the life he always wanted now.

Ivanka Trump (Donald's daughter) who was really active on social media, hasn't been posting since May 5th, but whether that means she is missing is another question.
Absence is off though.

Natalie Wood? I know she is meant to have drowned, but i don't think they ever found her body? May be wrong though..(sorry if I am). It is a fascinating story and very sad.

I saw Brian May talking about him. Very respectfully. But he implied that he isn't well, maybe some sort of mental disease although he didnt say that. He said it was very sad. I much prefer to think he's just living a quiet life, happily pruning his roses.

I haven't read the full thread, so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but the American fiction writer and journalist Ambrose Bierce went missing while investigating the Mexican revolution. Nobody knows what happened to him or if he was even in Mexico when he disappeared.

Not a celebrity as such, but the disappearance that really gets to me is the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg. It's pretty much accepted that he and his driver died somewhere in the Soviet gulag or prison system, but the whole case is so sad and unjust. It just makes me loathe the Soviet authorities.

I had a feeling lovely Richey Edwards would be the first to be mentioned.

I still recall those awful days, weeks, cannot believe its been 26 years & feel desperately sad for his bereft sister Rachel.
I believe he used his urge to disappear into nothingness, to create an enduring myth for the band. Thus he laid the trail of 'Disappearing' clues to feel useful one last time from the corner he felt backed into.
But that's just my opinion.
As someone who was & remains a fervent Manics fan, the pain never lessens, and as I've had my own friend & ex bro in law vanish, it really is the hope against logic that kills.

Duffy was in an independent film debut Patagonia and then 2 more films . I feel for anyone in that situation where it can be shutdown and personally I believe her . Based on my own experience of how crimes against women get treated as in overlooked.

Apparently he was living in Putney at one point. I actually think he is normal . I think it’s more bizarre some of the stuff they did with the legacy of Queen’s music. I saw the theatre show which I thought was cheesy and then there is all the cleaning product adverts. They don’t need the money so John just enjoying a private life seems sane to me

Do you mean Rylan? He split with his husband and it was reported he was taking a break.

I'm sure he was also very good friends with Nikki and that really affected him too.

Slightly off topic but how do people go into witness protection without telling their families ? Are their deaths faked or something ? I have a friend who died in odd circumstances, inquest not made public that I can see. My friend once alluded to knowing some people who were Gangsters or Mafia esque who were involved in high level drug production but it was being laundered through public services and friend was pretty scared...all very mysterious. I've often wondered if my friend went into witness protection instead of the alleged suicide...dunno...maybe I've had too much coffee 😂
