(This is part idle speculation, part deadly serious as going through separation and I've never liked the the town we currently live in. It doesn't have much to offer older DC, plus the secondaries aren't great here. Wondering where we might all have a better life... )

I live in Leyland Lancashire, you could easily get a 3/4 bed detached house in the suburbs or a 3 bed if you want rural village area.
I love where I live, great for kids lots of parks and green spaces, good connections for travel, trains and motorway.
In 2017 Chanel 4 voted it the best place in the UK to live. Low unemployment good schools

Lytham is really nice but very pricey.

Actually, maybe 3 3 beds if you go few streets away or are willing to do some work

I'm in Brighton, 300k would buy you a nice 2 bed flat - maybe with a garden, a handful of 3 bed flats, and a few 2 bed terraces.

I love living here but it is expensive.

Something similar to my current home...3 bed terrace, small back garden, garage in compound on an ok-ish 70s estate.

It's not exactly paradise but we're 10 minutes walk from the South Downs and 5 minutes drive from the sea, decent bars, shops and restaurants in the town centre and pretty good local schools.

Brand new 4 bed in villiage with commuter links to multiple major cities by train or road under an hour. Great high schools. Love the North!

We sold our two bed mid terrace for around that last year.

You can get a 4-bed detached for less than 300k. The largest house for 300k within our general area is a 5-bed semi with a large garden and two reception rooms.

Where I live (Watford Hertfordshire) a one or two bedroomed flat depending on the "state" or the actual location of the property.
A good and convenient place to live with a 20 minute train journey to get you into Central London.
