Lil boys wearing tights

Frequently my lil dude is freezing! Why is it ok for lil girls to wear tights and not lil boys? They are not so differenet at this stage, why do they not deserve the equal right to be warm and comfortable? Any thoughts please?

Put em on him....

stripeymama · 29/11/2007 22:03

Just put tights on him! He is a baby - he has no idea of our weird gender stuff.

Think Robin Hood...

thelittleElf · 29/11/2007 22:04

I used to put tights on my old charge. He wore them under his trousers as a baby. Quite agree, they are not different so why should they be cold!
Go for it

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 29/11/2007 22:04

My SIL put tights on her boys - navy ones mind not pink!

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 29/11/2007 22:05

In fact - I was in M&S yesterday and saw a beautiful dress for a little girl - very cute - for one fleeting moment I thought about buying it for ds3 but common sense got the better of me...

jamila169 · 29/11/2007 22:06

I've put tights on both my boys -why should they freeze?

fryalot · 29/11/2007 22:06

lots of us put our boys in tights can be funny

lucy5 · 29/11/2007 22:09

It's quite common outside the UK. Must admit I have been considering it for ds as he won't keep his socks or shoes on. I can just imagine dh's face!

moljam · 29/11/2007 22:10

dont even think about it-just put some tights on him!it'll keep him warm

you can some funky stripy ones, or plain red or blue etc that don't look girly at all.....just go for it. I did with my DS (now 5)

blanki · 29/11/2007 22:12

Cheers! Felt a bit guilty, 2yrs IS a bit young for cross dressing! But not in the name of {navy} warmth! Thank you. PS any recommendations? Sorry to be cheeky!!!

just go for cheap asda ones or 2nd hand?

mybabysinthegarden · 29/11/2007 22:14

I can report that my brother (now 32) wore tights when he was little and and seems to have grown up unscarred.

funnypeculiar · 29/11/2007 22:15

DS is desparate to wear tights - he had some for halowe'en (pink & black stripes) and keeps getting them out of the washing basket to wear again

funnypeculiar · 29/11/2007 22:15

he's 3.8yrs

blanki · 29/11/2007 22:19

Thanks ladies, you are a strength. More comments most welcome, esp cheap tight recommendations! Cheers

My DS has always worn tights in the winter, I never even thought it wouldn't be ok! It's to keep warm right! I'm sure in colder ocuntries than the UK they are worn, it's just like long underwear.

This year DS was adamant he wanted purple tights, so we went on a hunt for some and in the end he chose purple leggings from H and M (in the girl's section, he doesn't give a monkey's...)

No one would know he's hot them on under his trousers, especially as he has socks on too. He likes to show people though, he's very proud of them! He's nearly five by the way.

Put your boy in them, it won't do him any harm!

OverMyDeadBody · 29/11/2007 22:21

got not hot

OverMyDeadBody · 29/11/2007 22:22

oooh like the sound of stripy tight funnypeculiar, let him wear them! So cute

LyraSilvertongue · 29/11/2007 22:23

DS2 wore white tights under his trousers. They kept him lovely and toasty.
There's nothing wrong with it at all.

colditz · 29/11/2007 22:23

Who says it's not ok? Both my ds's wore tights as babies, ds2 still does and will until he is old enough to complain.

funnypeculiar · 29/11/2007 22:24

OverMyDeadBody - he insisted on wearing them to his friend's birthday party the other day 'but mummy, I want my smart shirt and my smart tights

LyraSilvertongue · 29/11/2007 22:24

We got ours from Primark or Woolworths, just cheap ones because it doesn't matter what they look like when they're under trousers.

colditz · 29/11/2007 22:25

Woolworths sell them, check market stalls also.
