To think having shopping delivered before 8am on Sunday is not very neighbourly?

We've been away for the last two weekends so I'd blissfully forgotten about this really annoying routine my relatively new neighbours have. Then I heard the "slide crash" of the Tesco van this morning at 7.36am Angry.
She's on mat leave, he wfh and certainly doesn't seem to be confined to home office all day everyday, so they really don't need it delivered this early on this particular day.
I usually have to get up at about 8.15 on Sundays to cart my DC's off to various sporting activities. But in the week I have to get up at 7.15 so that extra hour is cherished. Only now I'm awake thanks to the dulcet tones of crates being unloaded.
This is lighthearted btw, I know they are more important things to worry about. But bloody hell it's a bit rude!

@lieinsareunderated Not really. I get my shopping delivered on a Saturday morning, usually between 8 and 9 but theyve been here as early as 7:30.

I'm on Mat leave but its the time that works best for us. Everything is then fresh for packed lunches and dinners through the week.

If you want silence you need to move away from everyone. Go and live in the middle of nowhere, o bloody love it!

NeverMetANiceOne · 15/08/2021 09:06

i bloody love it

Our neighbours book the 11pm Morrison’s slot…. I’d take the 7am slot anyday from them!

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 09:07

I wfh but I can’t get shopping delivered because I’m busy wfh during working hours.

Scrowy · 15/08/2021 09:09

I don't have any nearby neighbours but I often do the same and the delivery usually comes with a Sunday morning breakfast treat like hazelnut croissants or smoked salmon and bagels.

It's a treat for me (we are too rural for takeaways or being able to nip to a restaurant/pub/cafe) and means I have fresh stuff ready to do batch cooking etc on Sunday afternoon ready for the week ahead.

Perhaps that's the only regular slot they could get?

isthisareverse · 15/08/2021 09:09

Anything creating noise that could be avoided is rude frankly. 7:30 at the weekend is pushing it (lighthearted)

Bet they'll be moaning if you get your delivery at 11pm (risky, as they are the deliveries who get cancelled the most)

On another note, I can't stand these deliveries who turn up early. If I book one at 8am, it means I make sure I come home for 7:55am, not earlier!

StarryStarrySocks · 15/08/2021 09:09

I'd be annoyed about this too. It'd be just about acceptable at 9am on a Sunday but certainly not before.

TheQueef · 15/08/2021 09:09

Sunday early slot is the best around these parts.
Freshly stocked and unfondled.
Be careful your neighbours could have strong mafia connections to bag that slot.

Dishwashersaurous · 15/08/2021 09:10

Why does a van unloading wake you up?

I'd already decided I was way to pathetic to politely bring it up with them, now I'm definitely not going to say anything Grin

YANBU. Rude of your neighbours.

DeadGood · 15/08/2021 09:12

@Dishwashersaurous

Why does a van unloading wake you up?
Seriously, why do people write comments like this?
lieinsareunderated · 15/08/2021 09:13

@Dishwashersaurous

I dunno, why does noise wake anyone up? I guess I'm at that just starting to wake up stage at that time maybe? But I'm one of those unfortunate people that once I've been woken by a noise I really can't go back to sleep however much I want to. And I already sleep with earplugs.
OP posts:
Dishwashersaurous · 15/08/2021 09:14

Because I cannot imagine being woken by a van at the neighbours. And I'm not that deep a sleeper.

So just wondering if there is an underlying health issue etc

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/08/2021 09:15

I think I'd be annoyed, but I was way more annoyed when the fucking chickens woke me at 5am with their bloody clucking or the neighbours dog is barking (inside the house) at 3am!

SpindleWhorl · 15/08/2021 09:16

@Dishwashersaurous

Why does a van unloading wake you up?
Well, it's a bit of a long shot, granted, but maybe it's because it's right outside her bedroom window, and is noisy?
flipflopslap · 15/08/2021 09:16

It's not rude in any way. They're just living their lives.

If it was a late night party maybe. But having shopping delivered?! Hmm

Why don't you treat yourself to some ear plugs?

AlmostSummer21 · 15/08/2021 09:16

Just talk to them, they might happily choose another slot, but it might be even worse!

lieinsareunderated · 15/08/2021 09:16

No, I don't have an underlying health issue. Is it that weird for a noise directly outside your bedroom window that goes on for 10mins to wake you up??

FleetwoodRaincoat · 15/08/2021 09:17

Book all the early morning slots yourself Grin

lieinsareunderated · 15/08/2021 09:17

@flipflopslap already use earplugs.

OP posts:
SpindleWhorl · 15/08/2021 09:17

I see the thread has already taken a magical MN turn.

Antsinyourpanta · 15/08/2021 09:17

Eh? My cat regularly wakes me up and that is a lot quieter than a tesco van (but probably more annoying!Grin)
