He's always been a chubby misogynist with questionable.comments to make about his wife but now he has compared a woman's afro hair to the fur on an alpaca. Has the world gone completely bloody mad? How come he still has that job? And, no, the 'I have old fashioned northern Irish charm' act doesn't make up for it. I for one am certainly not feeling charmed! I have no idea how Ruth puts up with him tbh.

It's the same with the Danny baker 'joke' comparing Prince Archie with a chimp.

If he had compared princess eugenes baby to a chimp that wouldn't be racist, but a mixed race baby is what makes it racist.

The fact you cannot grasp this is troubling.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 08:42

@Nicolastuffedone

What’s Dr Zoe saying about it?
I don't think she's said anything. As she probably wants to keep her job on This Morning.
Whatnext2018 · 13/08/2021 08:55

@ttcsucks It really isn’t comparable to what Danny baker said..!

What a nasty post, op. Imagine how they feel reading this, are you Philip S by any chance 🤷🏻‍♀️

A 'nasty' post? Eamonn has a history of saying inappropriate stuff and he keeps doing it, he never learns. I don't know why he's still on the TV.

ChequerBoard · 13/08/2021 09:01

He's awful, I turn off when we've he is on anything. He actually makes my skin crawl. He's one of those people that you wouldn't be surprised to hear terrible things about.

No idea quite what Ruth sees in him.

Rubyupbeat · 13/08/2021 09:09

But, of course, always ok to take the piss out of gingers!!
Ok, it's not racist, but its damaging growing up with that, then hearing all the 'funny' remarks forever after......

powershowerforanhour · 13/08/2021 09:12

Eamonn said something to me that was a bit dismissive - on live tv. He was, I think, trying to make a joke, but it was very condescending and belittling. However, I'm quick witted and managed to make That Smart Comment by return. He was furious and told me off in the Green Room afterwards! Didn't like me outwitting him.

Well done you! Quite telling that he can dish it out and can't take it. I watched his rant about Meghan Markle and thought - apart from the "woke" adjective- he could have been describing himself. Especially the mollycoddled bit.

Oh FFS will you READ

I never said it was comparable I was trying to explain to other posters why a 'joke' changes it context depending who the 'joke' is about,

Don't comment if you aren't reading properly

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 09:15

Anthea Turner left a show because of him. He called her 'Princess Tippy Toes' because she was ambitious or something?

Roussette · 13/08/2021 09:20

I can't stand him, he's been like this for decades, and it'll only get worse.

His rant about Meghan was awful, I'm surprised he came back after that. It was personal and insulting.

I can just tell without a shadow of doubt... he is holding himself back continually on what he is really thinking, and he is having to check himself continually so he doesn't say what he really wants to.

Yellowbirdflies · 13/08/2021 09:20

I cannot stand him

Hugolugo · 13/08/2021 09:21

Nasty op?

Whatnext2018 are you okay?

Is it okay for Eamonn to be nasty?

Make banter comments that are offensive and inappropriate?

This problem is more endemic than I realised.

Summerbreeze4 · 13/08/2021 09:25

I don’t think it was racist, the lady had thick fluffy hair, if a white person or any person had similar hair I think he would have said the same thing. I don’t think it had anything to do with her being black.

Non black people can have thick fluffy hair too.

Roussette · 13/08/2021 09:28

I can't imagine saying anything like that to anyone? It's bloody rude. I wish she'd fired back something personal at him but I think she was shocked

sprinkleyumnut · 13/08/2021 09:32

He needs sacking now. Asap. Vile. That's not an okay thing to say

Hugolugo · 13/08/2021 09:33

Summerbreeze4 and yet would it be acceptable for an interviewee to say to eamonn 'wow you look like a hairy wombat today!'

There are two issues for me with Eamonn's comments.

  1. Yesterday the comment about the alpaca was racist because it is racist to compare afro hair to an alpaca's fur. However you look at it.

And

  1. It is inappropriate, and I would argue, in Eamonn's case from all that I've seen on the programme and from other's comments here that it is used as a form of casual bullying (read: putting people in their place, beneath him. Read also: trying to make people feel less than. I mean comparing someone having a live interview with a wild animal.... please).

He is a pig. A wild, offensive, pig and he doesn't deserve the job.

Cloverglens · 13/08/2021 09:40

I think he is clumsy in some of the things he says and commenting on a women's hair is a bit rude....
Maybe Opening his mouth before he thinks. But a lot of it is his personality and yes dare I say it banter!
Everything these days seems to offend someone or other which to me is a bit worrying 😒
Slightly of the point, but I have naturally curly hair which I usually straighten. I kept it curly in the warm weather and a colleague said I looked like a wee poodle that day..... My reply was woof woof 😂😂
No in all serious I said that was the look I was going for and I did tend to agree a bit.... Was a bit paranoid by my poodle style but did t ruin my day 😁

Whatnext2018 · 13/08/2021 09:42

@Summerbreeze4 Exactly 🤷🏻‍♀️

@ttcsucks Pipe down, Jesus.

Whatnext2018 · 13/08/2021 09:42

@Cloverglens That’s it

mustlovegin · 13/08/2021 09:42

I wish she'd fired back something personal at him

They are friends, aren't they? She wouldn't be friends with him if he found him so offensive?

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 09:43

Is he on it today or do they have Friday's off?

mustlovegin · 13/08/2021 09:43

if she found him so offensive I meant

MrsTophamHat · 13/08/2021 09:43

She wasn't on there to talk about her hair, so any comment about her hair, even if had been complimentary is totally unnecessary.

It is perfectly possible to have a light hearted chat either side of a professional interview without making personal comments

Chocolatier9 · 13/08/2021 09:50

I did find it interesting that he described her as his friend, Dr Williams.

Hugolugo · 13/08/2021 09:52

Why would Eamonn need to be told this, though, MrsTophamHat after all of those years working in tv / offending people?

Why does he still think he can get away with this nonsense.

It's actually quite shocking when you think about it.
