Thinking ‘couple time’changes when you’re pregnsnt

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 11:56

Went out with my boyfriend on Sunday on our first proper day out together - to a tourist type city about 10 miles away so plenty of nice walks etc - since finding out I’m pregnant- it felt exciting in a way - but I had burning indigestion for a lot of the day - so I was complaining I had tummy ache and needed a wee for a lot of the time! In other words I feel like my boyfriend’s just acquired a toddler Grin I want to make our days out and date nights nice and romantic but since being pregnant I either need to wee, burp or sit down every 5 seconds 😂 I was just wondering is this what family days out are going to be like now - I think my boyfriend’s illusions of me have been shattered! Grin The elasticated waist trousers has also now had to come in so he’s already lost his body conscious, gym bunny girlfriend!

How heavily pregnant are you? Sounds like at least you don’t have long to go so can resume normal days out in the not too distant future.

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 12:04

Only 8 weeks! But I’ve got really sore feet and indigestion etc at the moment so I’m just hoping after about 12 weeks of so the symptoms will ease and I can feel a bit more normal again!!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 12/08/2021 12:08

8 weeks?! OP you make it sound like you are 9 months gone!

Lockheart · 12/08/2021 12:09

You're 8 weeks pregnant and already having to wear elasticated trousers?

See a doctor.

PurpleDaisies · 12/08/2021 12:10

This is going to be a very long pregnancy.

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 12:11

To be honest I feel like crap at the moment and I haven’t been sleeping well at all - I hope my symptoms ease up in the next few weeks - I’m sure they will - or hope so anyway. I think my lack of sleep is making the symptoms more severe

Lockheart I don’t fit into my favourite jeans anymore!

I second @PurpleDaisies. I’m still commuting and working at 35 weeks and honestly the day is endless and so so hard. My feet are agony by the end of the day. You’ve got a long way to go. Get some medication for the indigestion, it comes back with a vengeance later on.

Normal days out to resume once the baby is born? Grin Don’t tease the OP now @DorasSisterDrostitute Wink
EmeraldShamrock · 12/08/2021 12:13

I was very sick and tired early in the pregnancy, not enough to need a sitting break.
Hopefully symptoms will ease or It'll be a long 9 month's.

prettyprinceofpartiez · 12/08/2021 12:14

Can confirm it'll only get worse, especially when you're 36 weeks and waddling with baby squeezing on your bladder 😂 I think it's wonderful, your partner will know you far better and more deeply after pregnancy and birth. Consider it a bonding experience rather than a loss!

Sleepyquest · 12/08/2021 12:14

Buy yourself some rennies girl! First few weeks are actually harder than the second trimester in some ways. The peeing thing is going to be ongoing but as long as you are somewhere you can go often (lots of public places or the woods) you should be fine!
Hopefully when the second trimester hits, you'll feel a bit more lively and can do some lovely things together!

Gettingthereslowly2020 · 12/08/2021 12:17

It sounds like you need to see your midwife/GP. Everyone experiences pregnancy differently but in my (non-medical, non-expert) opinion, you shouldn't be like that at 8 weeks! I thought you were going to say you were 8 months pregnant. Unless you're having twins/octuplets?

Splendo · 12/08/2021 12:18

The first 12-14 weeks were the hardest for me, then I felt great from 14-34ish weeks so you might find that the indigestion and exhaustion wears off and you feel fab for most of your pregnancy, don't worry.
Just take it easy while you're feeling rough and don't put pressure on yourself.

AveryGoodlay · 12/08/2021 12:18

First baby? At 8 weeks the baby is tiny so it sounds like you're just bloated if you can't fit into your jeans. See a dr maybe.

Also, make sure being pregnant doesn't take over your entire personality as that gets very tiring to listen to!

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 12:18

Thanks for all your tips - think it’s been a bonding experience as there’s been a role reversal - I’m normally the more organised one! I do think if I had at least one decent nights sleep the symptoms will improve a bit at least

ellenpartridge · 12/08/2021 12:19

You do sound like you're making a bit of a meal of at 8 weeks! Sorry op

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 12:20

Definitely not a ‘multiple‘ pregnancy !

sineadteh · 12/08/2021 12:20

@PurpleDaisies

This is going to be a very long pregnancy.
😂😂
Comedycook · 12/08/2021 12:22

Are you very young or is your relationship very new?

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2021 12:22

Why did you go for a walk if you’ve sore feet and are tired?

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 12/08/2021 12:23

I felt dreadful from 6 weeks to 14 weeks with all my pregnancies. Felt great up to and beyond due dates though. The sickness and what I now know was peri natal depression was just miserable at the beginning.
Having children changes you in all sorts of ways, but a solid relationship with a decent partner would not be damaged by this. It's just different.
I'm hoping he's looking after you at the moment, and you're not fretting because he's expressed disappointment in you not being quite at your best just now.

Frazzle76 · 12/08/2021 12:26

I think people are being mean!!! It's normal to have massive bloating early on. Get multiple indigestion tabs and if it gets really bad some omeprazole.
Second trimester gets easier and then it gets harder again usually. Although the last 4 weeks your body kinda just suddenly pushes you through it. Some people find pregnancy easy and others don't. Either is fine. (I hate anyone who had an easy one but that's because I'm bitter!) It's OK whatever.

Hadenoughofthisbullshit · 12/08/2021 12:29

I thought the first trimester was awful op, second was easy peasy for me, but that’s when people start helping you 🙄. The third trimester was easy for me until a few weeks before birth.

These threads always fill up with martyrs who lifted houses over their heads when pregnant. Bully for you for being so perfect Hmm.

SingingSands · 12/08/2021 12:31

Bloating and indigestion was a bugger for me at the start of my first pregnancy. And the tiredness. Oh Lord the bone crushing tiredness. I had multiple packets of Rennies on me at all times.

I fell asleep at the bus stop waiting on my bus at 8 weeks. I'm sure everyone thought I was hungover Grin
