Thinking ‘couple time’changes when you’re pregnsnt

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 11:56

Went out with my boyfriend on Sunday on our first proper day out together - to a tourist type city about 10 miles away so plenty of nice walks etc - since finding out I’m pregnant- it felt exciting in a way - but I had burning indigestion for a lot of the day - so I was complaining I had tummy ache and needed a wee for a lot of the time! In other words I feel like my boyfriend’s just acquired a toddler Grin I want to make our days out and date nights nice and romantic but since being pregnant I either need to wee, burp or sit down every 5 seconds 😂 I was just wondering is this what family days out are going to be like now - I think my boyfriend’s illusions of me have been shattered! Grin The elasticated waist trousers has also now had to come in so he’s already lost his body conscious, gym bunny girlfriend!

Don't worry OP, I was bigger at 10 weeks than I am now at almost 20. A lot of what you have now could be bloat I'm afraid, but, my symptoms got much better about 14 weeks and I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.

But yes, your life as you know it will change massively once the baby arrives. Its OK to Mourn your old life, but remember to look forward to thd great things in your new life!

8 weeks with DC1: Glowed with energy (probably as I'd knocked the booze on the head) and flounced around feeling amazing and v pleased with myself. .

8 Weeks with DC2: Spotty and pale. I literally cried as I had to make Christmas dinner and I was so exhausted and just wanted to go to bed (at 4pm). Also pretty much burned my oesophagus off with heartburn.

m0therofdragons · 12/08/2021 13:56

Definitely not a ‘multiple‘ pregnancy !

If you’re 8 weeks, how can you possibly know this?

tintodeverano2 · 12/08/2021 13:56

@LBirch02

Sounds like you can all relate at some level - as soon as I get back to sleeping normally I think there’ll be an easing of symptoms- personally - I think this is making it worse
You won't sleep normally for about 18 years now 😂
MrsMiddleMother · 12/08/2021 13:58

I was also in elasticated trousers at 8 weeks as everyone knows you get that first trimester bloat. It is tough but it'll get better for the 2nd trimester at least. Your romantic days out won't be the same for a while I'm afraid!

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 13:59

m0therofdragons - I don’t definitely know, as one of my later posts says, just balance of probabilities/no particular reason to think it’ll be multiples

Honestly I felt terrible for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, I felt nauseous all the time, exhausted, bloated and constantly needed to pee. I couldn't eat anything without it making me feel sick. DH and I went away the weekend we found out i was pregnant for my birthday and it totally ruined it for both of us, although he'd never say anything.
You'll probably find you start feeling a lot better in a couple of weeks when your hormones settle down a bit, until you get bigger and uncomfortable that is.

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 14:01

tintodeverano2 that’s what I’m fearing ! Grin

heygirlhey aw at least the end is in sight for you! I’m 5ft 1 so by 35 weeks I’ll probably be all bump! Grin
I’m 5ft 2in and looked like a penguin for the last few weeks, waddled like one too.

I remember the bone tiredness of the first three months well. I fell asleep virtually every time I sat down.

blubbebubba · 12/08/2021 14:10

@SheABitSpicyToday

You’ve posted in aibu op so people are going to be unnecessarily horrible.

It’s well known that the first trimester sucks the hardest. I was sick, bloated and really ill from about 6 weeks onwards with both of my pregnancies. Just take it easy, have date nights but no long walks if you can’t manage it!

Nobodies being horrible. We all just expected her to be about 30+ weeks but she's only 8 lol. I was about to say I could relate, but I'm third trimesterGrin

Good on OP for being a good sport and taking the lighthearted banter well. The first trimester is hard for many people with sickness etc. But the description was a tad dramatic for 8wks

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 14:15

blubbebubba - to be honest I strongly feel that insomnia has a lot to answer for - it exaggerates slight symptoms imo
Also - congrats to those of you - 30 weeks plus - must be exciting with not long to go

First trimester (well 15 weeks for me) was nothing short of hanging.

Second trimester was the cute lil bump pics, happiness and no sickness.

Third trimester is absolutely hanging; uncomfortable, acid reflux, vomit, drained (on iron tablets), swollen feet and hands, eating EVERY FUCKING THING I SEE arghh when will it end. I’m 35+4.

It will get very very unlady like though OP, so take each gross symptom as it comes.

heygirlhey · 12/08/2021 14:23

@LBirch02 Heres hoping you don't topple over! As a PP said be prepared for all the gross things that come and for your OH too. We started perineal massage last week....talk about sexy!🤣

heygirlhey · 12/08/2021 14:25

@Blossomtoes I'm 5'3 and my DF says I've been waddling since I found out I was pregnant! The swine 🤣 I definitely am now ha ha!

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 12/08/2021 14:29

@Gettingthereslowly2020

It sounds like you need to see your midwife/GP. Everyone experiences pregnancy differently but in my (non-medical, non-expert) opinion, you shouldn't be like that at 8 weeks! I thought you were going to say you were 8 months pregnant. Unless you're having twins/octuplets?
Oh come off it. It's 100% normal to have heartburn and need to pee frequently forever more when you're in the first trimester.
21Bee · 12/08/2021 14:33

People are being mean, everyone is different in their pregnancies. In both my pregnancies early on I’ve become heavily bloated every time I’ve eaten, I look a few months gone. After the food is digested it goes away. I stopped the bloating after the first trimester.

I’ve always found the first trimester by far the worst - constant nausea, cramping, bloating, ligament pain.

cravingmilkshake · 12/08/2021 14:35

I'm over 30 weeks pregnant with twins and have a two year old and haven't needed to sit down just yet for a test. Just take things a bit slower, or go to the docs .... just lower your expectations otherwise you are in for a very very long pregnancy.

Just relax and try to enjoy it.

thelegohooverer · 12/08/2021 14:37

I felt exactly like that at 8 -10 weeks and would happily do labour twice if I could skip the first trimester.

Orangemochafrappacino · 12/08/2021 14:37

First trimester for me was vile so I definitely would have been a terrible date! Nothing prepared me for the sickness, exhaustion and just general feeling of shiteness.

'Fortunately' for us we were in lockdown until I was around 20 weeks so there was no expectation of dates or weekends away, by which time I felt much better and we pretty much did normal things.

I'm 38 weeks now and a bit fed up and uncomfortable but I'd take it any day over the first trimester! Hopefully you'll be the same and feel better soon. Congrats!

Greenmarmalade · 12/08/2021 14:44

I was incredibly bloated in the first trimester and for me it’s the hardest time with sickness and exhaustion. You have my sympathy!

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 14:51

Thanks all for your supportive comments - just had a big strawberry milkshake with ice cream in my favourite cafe - I’m determined to enjoy this part of pregnancy!

Yeah, it must be hard with insomnia as well, especially when working. Good luck to you, you've done 20% so far.

Greenmarmalade · 12/08/2021 14:56

Don’t worry about ‘enjoying’ it all. If you get sickness or pain, or feel uncomfortable it’s daft when people suggest you enjoy it. Same is true with a newborn- don’t feel pressure to enjoy it, when it’s an incredibly intense time able massive lifestyle change. You can appreciate it without feeling obliged to ‘enjoy.’

Bumblenums1234 · 12/08/2021 14:57

Insomnia was my main pregnancy symptoms throughout my pregnancy. I didn't sleep through a single night until after DS was born. I am with you OP, it's a struggle! Flowers

Oogachuckachopsy · 12/08/2021 15:01

@Lockheart

You're 8 weeks pregnant and already having to wear elasticated trousers?

See a doctor.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I get you’re excited OP, but come on. If you’re that much of a ‘body conscious gum bunny’ then you probably won’t show for months. Why the elasticated trousers?
