I think its fascinating that despite their wealth they all still want to be in the limelight.

I think he lost a lot of fans through his actions.

Samcro · 08/08/2021 12:35

he comes across as a nasty piece of work. seems they are well suited.

MiaMarshmallows · 08/08/2021 12:40

I think her love saved him. DP said I did this for him. He had a really rough time with his now ex wife, met me a few months on and I like to think I healed him. He is himself again now. 3 years on and we are so very happy.
I hope the same for Ant and his new bride.

Blossomtoes · 08/08/2021 12:44

@PopcornMuncher

I saw the pictures. Just felt sorry for the bride. However pretty she looked and however beautiful her dress was she is marrying someone with a drink problem. Having lived with an alcoholic I would not wish that on my worst enemey
Nor would I. But she’s married a recovering alcoholic which is a completely different kettle of fish. What a horrible society we live in where nobody ever gets a second chance.
TokyoSushi · 08/08/2021 12:54

The bride looked absolutely beautiful.

I met Ant & Dec quite a lot through my work a few years ago, Dec is genuinely really, really lovely. Ant, much less so...

PopcornMuncher · 08/08/2021 12:56

Not saying no one gets a second chance but I wouldn't personally risk being in a relationship with anyone with a drink problem. It could ruin my life. I don't owe it to anyone to take that risk

Viviennemary · 08/08/2021 12:57

Maybe in another few years he may find he needs somebody else to save him. Hmm

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 08/08/2021 13:05

How come it's always men saying that women 'rescue them'? Is it not more a case of some women just put up with losers and fuck ups and having to burden to pressure of not 'letting' him fuck U.K. even more?

RaspberryRoyale88 · 08/08/2021 13:13

If it’s true her teenage children age calling him Dad then eeeuurgghhh.

I used to love Ant and Dec but after Ant’s alleged knee problem and alleged addiction to painkillers, not to mention almost killing a family, his disgraceful behaviour of his ex wife, cheating and still being the golden boy of it itv? It makes me sick.

Also for a simple wedding with their nearest and dearest? Didn’t look like it. Ant never courted the media when he was with Lisa, since he got with the new partner, that’s all he’s done in an attempt to make himself look good.

Somanysocks · 08/08/2021 13:27

off to find a shiny spoon...

I doubt her teenage children call him, 'Dad", except maybe in a jokey way.

Ant did have a knee problem and was addicted to pain killers.

His first marriage broke up, they had not been happy for a long time. Hopefully they can both be happy again now they are apart. Mumsnet is full of people who have been married, divorced and remarried, often with children - and then have more children. Ant is no different to them.

I can remember his first wedding being in the media, even in Hello!; I can remember the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses.

The drink-drive conviction was bad, of course it was, but for how long do you think people should do penance? He is not likely to do that again.

Summer20twentyone · 08/08/2021 13:54

@Darkchocolateandcoffee

You need to get onto Tattle - much better for discussion of this sort of thing

I was just about to post that this sort of vitriol is more suited to Tattle life!

RaspberryRoyale88 · 08/08/2021 14:10

Ant himself said in their first autobiography they were offered a large amount of money for his wedding from various magazines but Lisa and him turned it down because (and I am paraphrasing here; they wanted a private wedding)

I am willing to bet he has a magazine deal in place this time around.

I’m sorry @Plumtree391 I don’t believe the painkiller addiction story is true.
It was Ant that said in his wedding speech that he is lucky the children call him Dad.

Nohomemadecandles · 08/08/2021 14:15

Would we say the same if it hadn't been a near miss? If a child had been hurt? Because that was chance.
If he'd punched someone or poisoned someone or stolen something?

If your career is in the public eye, that involves an amount of adulation. Kids love Ant & Dec. Paragon of clean family entertainment.

To have got off Scott free and come back on TV with a slightly sheepish look on your face then be entirely forgiven because you're a bit cheeky and an empire will fall if an anchor duo is split up, shows people a very wrong message.

He's back on prime time family TV as a tea time hero. That's all kinds of wrong.

There was a short "time out" on the naughty step.

No.

There were photos in Hello! of Ant and Lisa's wedding, and in other publications. Here is one: www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2017110643750/ant-mcpartlin-wife-lisa-armstrong-shares-tribute-video-to-couple/

So what if he did say he was happy the kids call him, "Dad", they were probably joking and so was he.

I don't know why you find it difficult to believe the story of his knee pain. I had an op on one knee when I was thirteen and the pain was excruciating; I would have taken anything to relieve it but unfortunately it was not available to me once I left hospital (where I was give morphine four hourly for four days), and I wasn't old enough to be buying it.

Honestly you want to find fault. Why can you not think the best of someone and just wish them well? Nobody is perfect.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2021 16:05

I believe, rightly or wrongly that a lot of this comes from ITV.
If you want to keep your job you must do XYZ...
Even the guest list.

SoupDragon · 08/08/2021 16:15

To have got off Scott free

He didn't.

BrozTito · 08/08/2021 16:58

The columbian marching powder really has a hold on ITV's roster

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2021 17:21

If he's got clean, then good.
Lisa was thrown under the bus because she's not Ant, and doesn't bring in the viewers l.
She's still got a bloody brilliant job though, and I'm glad she does.

But who is in who's pocket, Ant or ITV? Supposedly the share price dropped when he had to pull out of his presenting commitments. It might be more a case of him saying he'll play ball if they rally others round to support him.
IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2021 17:32

Who knows, but I don't believe for a second that most if this is real.

Me too and by all accounts, she has a new fella.

Life goes on.

I don't think you can heal another person. They have to heal/ fix themselves.
