I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

Not everyone enjoyed unknown dogs jumping up at them and getting excited it’s possible to be unnerved or scared by a dog doing just this.

Rapists should get much harsher punishments. Should be punished full stop.

Men shouldn't have to pay for a baby they never wanted and didn't try for. We can't say sex doesn't mean a woman wants a baby and she shouldn't have to keep it and then in the next breath say a man had sex and knew the risks and should have to pay for a child for 18 years of his life. If you slept with a man and neither of you wanted to get pregnant but you do and you decide to keep it, he shouldn't have to pay if he doesn't want to have anything to do with that child. Even if you want to go back to work and can't afford childcare while he's on good money, you made the choice so you deal with it.

LadyCatStark · 07/08/2021 12:11

Anything to do with step parenting.

Crate training your dog.

Having negative feelings towards the OW as it goes against the “sisterhood” never mind the fact that it’s not very “sisterly” to have an affair with another woman’s husband.

Free bars at weddings.

The north/south divide.

Redredtested · 07/08/2021 12:11

I appreciate that people think what I said might be controversial but it really shouldn't be.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 07/08/2021 12:12

I really, really like my MIL and she often visits us.

AlexaShutUp · 07/08/2021 12:12

That providing financially for your children, putting food on the table and a roof over their heads, is also an aspect of parenting.

Standrewsschool · 07/08/2021 12:14

Kids are fully, fledged, mature individuals, the second they turn 18.

It should be, very much, and I'm glad that the law, in theory at least, doesn't allow people to fuck off their own children financially.

Though I do appreciate that it's difficult to take in the idea of men and their wants not being centred for once.

Monkeybusinesss · 07/08/2021 12:15

The soho house thread was hilarious

CoalCraft · 07/08/2021 12:16

It's okay to re-home a pet if it no longer fits with your lifestyle.

Going no-contact with a close relative is really only proportionate in extreme cases.

Men and women can relate to and empathise with each other.

Most trans people do not have some deeper agenda.

Not every meal has to be faultlessly healthy, not even for kids.

IVflytrap · 07/08/2021 12:18

The London/Estuary working class accent, where th sounds are routinely pronounced as f, is as valid as any other British accent, and people aren't wrong to speak it.

atlastifoundit · 07/08/2021 12:18

That when you buy a house with a large mature native tree in the garden, you are also taking responsibility for it. It has been there a lot longer than you have (possibly a couple of hundred years or more) and it has more right to stay there than you do to cut it down.

Turmerictolly · 07/08/2021 12:19

Private schools are better in every way than state schools.

I would agree with what you said, if it weren’t for the fact that it would be the child that suffered under that policy.
Bryonyshcmyony · 07/08/2021 12:21

@Turmerictolly

Private schools are better in every way than state schools.
🤣🤣🤣

Blimey what a bun fight that would start

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 12:22

That some women are bad mothers and the children should be with their dad.

Shouldn't be controversial but on Mumsnet it is.

The same for -

  • Some children like their dad more.
  • Some children want to live with their dad and he hasn't been "buying their love" or "bullying them with abuse" into telling their mum they want to live with him.
  • Some women can just find they aren't a good mum and it isn't because they've got PND, its just because they arent right for the job.
  • It isnt ok to just not tell a man hes a father/keep him away from his child just becuase you dont like him, even though the problem isn't with his skills as a parent.
  • Some SM's/MIL's ect are really good.
  • You don't need to give an adult child money for university, your adult child just needs to do the same as the thousands of people who went to university with no help from parents.
  • You can have a pond and a child. You just need to be with the child and not let it fall in.
  • That sometimes OPs DH's are the one who is right.

Women really don't need to pander to men so much, they are fine.
(Well they’re not fine, but iykyk)

AlexaShutUp · 07/08/2021 12:24

@Turmerictolly, I would counter that with the statement that paying for education doesn't automatically mean that it's better.

And that Shock some kids do just as well in a good state school as they would in a top private school.

WhatsMyNameGonnaBeNow · 07/08/2021 12:27

That the price of seasonal soft fruits is not proof that fruit and vegetables are unaffordable.

That MN is not your “safe space” and MNHQ are not mummy whose job it is to protect you from the daily mail/choosing to give your bank account details to scammers/devoting your time and energy to the needs of a stranger on the internet.

Spending more than tuppence on dc at Christmas doesn’t make one a profligate spendthrift.

That having Netflix is not why people are struggling to make ends meet.

LostThings · 07/08/2021 12:27

In-laws can sometimes be nice and helpful people.

People are not necessarily bad or stupid for holding the opposite opinion to you. It is wrong and unkind to mock them. We are all different, that's all.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 07/08/2021 12:27

@Turmerictolly

Private schools are better in every way than state schools.
I don't think that statement would be considered uncontroversial.
ilovesooty · 07/08/2021 12:27

Plenty of women not only enjoy football but are committed fans.
