I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

OP posts:

Food cooked from scratch is nicer than ready meals/takeaway.

Rachie1973 · 07/08/2021 11:43

Oh and ‘it’s ok to take your toddler on a hen weekend’

Briste · 07/08/2021 11:44

Here are some of the ones I've noticed:

  • Maintenance sex is important (or not important)
  • English football supporters are great (or awful)
  • Oral is great (or it's bad)
  • OLD is awful (or it is fun)

My strongly held opinions, based on hard earned experience, are the ones not in the brackets :)

Any statement that males are disadvantaged in any way at any time (compared to females).

Shorter lifespan, higher risk of covid death, higher risk of poor mental health or being a victim of crime? No ground given for any of that.

sendinallthesheep · 07/08/2021 11:45

It's okay to be hurt if your DP of five years isn't invited to a wedding you're attending, even though you aren't engaged/married/living together.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/08/2021 11:46

That a teenage girl can have sex with a bit her age that she consented to.

It doesn't matter what the OP has said, or even if she's made no description of the teenage boy, he almost always is a predator, the girl didn't really consent to it and the police must be called immediately

sendinallthesheep · 07/08/2021 11:46

And it's okay to call them your partner and not your boyfriend.

Monkeybusinesss · 07/08/2021 11:47

I wanted my DP to get me a birthday present and he forgot so I’m sad

Booboosweet · 07/08/2021 11:48

That it's impossible to change sex.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 07/08/2021 11:48

That blended families can be quite nice

That it's ok to spoil your kids at Christmas

That some women remove body hair just because they want to

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/08/2021 11:49

It's ok to be a landlord

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/08/2021 11:50

My opinions, which will cause controversy:

  • Female guests at a wedding can wear dresses, which are predominantly white and look like nothing like a wedding dress.
  • Over 18s should not be happy with a 50p present from their parents or nothing at all, especially if they receive a card.
  • Parents are selfish if they spend every penny of their millions and give / hand nothing to their financially struggling children / gcs. These parents are especially selfish if their money is due to inheritance from their parents.
  • Over 18s are not fully formed adults.
LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:50

That women can be paedophiles. More so that women can be paedophiles, murderers, abusers, and hurt children without a man "making her" do it.

Fizzbangwallop · 07/08/2021 11:51

I have never cooked anything from scratch.

My children eat cereal for breakfast every day.

I sleep trained my DC from 6 months old.

zaffa · 07/08/2021 11:54

@lavenderandwisteria

Try this

DH and I went for a gender scan on Thursday …

It will not matter a jot what the rest of the post says!

That you should usually assume, in a family that is loving and where there are no big failings out, that your mum and dad will leave what they have to you and your siblings equally.

On Mumsnet you're a greedy bitch if you feel disappointed when your mum and dad tell you they're leaving everything to your second cousin six times removed who you met once at wedding in 1986.

Knittingupastorm · 07/08/2021 11:55

I always think washing up bowls are the most mundane thing that people seem to have strong opinions about on Mumsnet. I had no idea people could possibly feel strongly either way on them.

Fizbosshoes · 07/08/2021 11:55

Not everyone has the opportunity to earn 100k however hardworking they are

Background, wealth, education, privilege, networking and luck often have a lot to do with earning potential.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 07/08/2021 11:57

A whole roast chicken is only enough for ONE meal.

gobackanddoitproperly · 07/08/2021 11:58

I’m powerless to stop my cat shitting in your garden

FlyingRabbitsAtNoon · 07/08/2021 11:59

Any post that uses the word ‘mammy’.

See also girls/boys (in reference to adult friends), and partner, in reference to any length relationship where you don’t live with said partner.

gobackanddoitproperly · 07/08/2021 12:00

Actually that should read, ‘you really should stop your car shitting in other people’s gardens’.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/08/2021 12:00

What's wrong with a washing up bowl?!

FlyingRabbitsAtNoon · 07/08/2021 12:01

Also: discussions on potty training.

Peachdisco · 07/08/2021 12:02

That most people on this thread don't understand the meaning on uncontroversial.
