I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

OP posts:
HauteGirlSummer · 09/08/2021 05:32

Your dog is not your child and you're not a dog mum 😏

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 09/08/2021 06:25

I do not like the taste of Jaffa cakes.

PluggingAway · 09/08/2021 06:49

There are some teachers and nurses that don't work hard and don't care about their job. They are in the minority, but they do exist.

brokenbiscuitsx · 09/08/2021 07:35

A neighbour parking in your private parking space.

Loving your partner the same or more than your children.

Owning a toilet brush.

Sitting or lying on your bed in indoor clothes.

Asking people to remove their shoes before entering your house

Showing too much affection towards a dog, or any animal

nightfairy · 09/08/2021 07:40

People who let their hair go grey look older.

WomanStanleyWoman · 09/08/2021 08:44

@BananaMilkshakeWithCream

Mine will probably get deleted but hey I’ll go for it. Any post that doesn’t put trans people in the best light possible is likely to start a bunfight. No-one is allowed to have any sort of negative opinion whatsoever.
I think you’re reading a different forum to the rest of us…

You don't need to wear knickers- or indeed anything, in bed.

Fruit is not the work of satan and not every meal is improved by shoe-horning in vegetables.

Loos are for pooing in and loo brushes are perfectly normal and a useful thing to own.

Not owning an iron/doing minimal ironing doesn't make you liberated or superior.

Separate finances are fine and healthy- you just need to discuss it.

50/50 splits of anything aren't always fair in context- and if you SAH for anything other than health reasons you probably should be doing the majority of housework & childcare, with some support.

Some people use the fact that "not all men" "should go without saying" and thus shouldn't be said on threads to imply that it is very much all men.

It's ok to vote tory.

It's ok to use your vote to reflect your personal priorities - that's what it's there for.

Not all women are the better parent or indeed the better person.

People do show some small interest in your life events and can and frequently do gossip about others.

Weddings and birthdays are fun and can be celebrated.

Not everyone should drive.

Not all ass-holery or brattiness is down to SEN, LD, MH or dementia. In fact the monumentally awful child is likely to be a worldclass dick of an adult because THAT'S JUST HOW THEY ARE.

Sometimes it's kinder and better to rehome a pet than keep it.

Dogs are not children.

Not everyone who works for the NHS is a saint and shouldn't be revered for that alone. Similarly not all teachers should be venerated and not all parents are being PFB.

Head tilting & pretending "not to understand" less than perfect spelling & grammar, use of odd phrases (fly space anyone?), localisms (see "have needles" for child hood injections) or slang ("muff", "lady garden" etc) does not make you superior and an upholder of standards. It suggests you're a raging snob and a bully with very poor comprehension skills. Also all the posters who throw a fit of the vapours at the merest mention of a muff or a hoo-ha seem to be perfectly aware of what a knob or a dick is. And can throw cunt around with the best of them.

MrsToothyBitch · 09/08/2021 09:38

Oh and finally, swooping in on the smallest details of a thread isn't clever. Doesn't matter if YOU think OP is BU to have lilac curtains and a pink carpet and offer links to John Lewis if her AIBU is about going NC with her mother for trying to stealth redecorate OPs whole house in grey & navy. See also: eating Dairy Milk, eating carbs, using fabric conditioner.

Inverted snobbery is real & just as vile as outright snobbery. Class is still a thing but it's far more subtle than MN thinks it is.

Use of AIBU to stick the boot in; calling someone an "entitled cow" (I've had this) where simply "entitled" would do. See also "you sound hard work" or "why are you still behaving like a teenager".

However you choose to style yourself is valid. I might not agree with it but I'll try my damndest to remember it & support your personal choice.

Whichever bits of wedding traditions you choose to follow is a personal choice even if they contradict/seen illogical to others.

Proposals can be lovely & plenty of people do still want & will enjoy one (just not with a flash mob or atop the Eiffel Tower).

Nowt wrong with Picky Tea.

LostThings · 09/08/2021 09:48

You must feel better after getting that lot off your chest!

Unfortunately, some of us do need to wear knickers in bed - won't elaborate unless people are eating while reading this..

LostThings · 09/08/2021 09:50
  • in case
brokenbiscuitsx · 09/08/2021 09:54

Love a picky tea @MrsToothyBitch Smile

HolidayDilemma23 · 09/08/2021 09:56

We love picky tea in this house!

Sometimes we'll have a random party for no reason with the DC, picky tea, paper plates, balloons, games and music.

The kids love it.

MrsToothyBitch · 09/08/2021 09:59

@LostThings and some of us really shouldn't wear them... similarly won't elaborate.

@brokenbiscuitsx best bit of getting food in for a party or anything is knowing you can have a "picky tea" from left over picky bits. Specially if there's enough for multiple meals! Grin

DottyHarmer · 09/08/2021 10:12

Yes, if you are home all day and your dh is out all day, just bloody do the housework. (Important caveat: no one is saying you have to do it well…)

Regarding clothes, at a certain age you do not want to mistakenly wear “old lady shoes” or any other frumpy item . I don’t want to be bawled at that I’m ageist and misogynistic - I don’t care, I want to avoid looking like my mum !

LolaSmiles · 09/08/2021 10:15

Teacher here and I agree. There's good eggs and bad eggs, hard workers and lazy arses in every job

igelkott2021 · 09/08/2021 10:25

To reference a current (and previous) thread - that if you don't like motorway driving, that doesn't make you an unsafe or overanxious driver on other roads.

igelkott2021 · 09/08/2021 10:28

"picky tea"

Yuck. Not the tea itself which sounds really nice, but the expression. Really?

Although to be fair I can't come up with a better one. Grin

DottyHarmer · 09/08/2021 10:31

“Picky tea” vomit phrase.

To which I’ll add “roasties”, “veggies”, “pigs in blankets” (never used to call them that) and as for the phrase “pop” Angry as in “just pop it in the oven” invariably used after someone has asked for easy meals and a poster has described a recipe using 2,000 hard-to-find ingredients and a marinating period of 7 hours.

@igelkott2021

what does picky tea mean?

DottyHarmer · 09/08/2021 10:47

I think it means a cold collation [preens at phrase] or high tea .

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/08/2021 10:49

so picnic/buffet style or raid the fridge?

HolidayDilemma23 · 09/08/2021 10:50

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

so picnic/buffet style or raid the fridge?
It would mean picnic/buffet style to us.
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/08/2021 10:52

thanks.
never heard of it.

I occasionally do "freezer pot luck" - single portions of leftovers offered, first comes first chooses style.
picky tea sounds like too much effort

Lavender24 · 09/08/2021 10:59

I don't limit my child's screen time and if she wants ice cream for breakfast I let her.

YES. I've met some bloody awful ones.
