I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

Any sentence that contains both “teachers” and “holiday”.

You can get one, possibly 2, family meals from a chicken but not much more.

That if someone you vaguely know has trouble conceiving you must not announce your own pregnancy in fear of upsetting them.

Not everyone who votes or ever voted Tory is the devil incarnate.

BlackForestCake · 07/08/2021 15:49

That men aren't women

Coachradley · 07/08/2021 15:49

That it’s normal to want to celebrate your birthday, whatever the age.

That it’s not child abuse for babies to have earrings.

DarlingFell · 07/08/2021 15:51

@ChainJane

Not all men are out to abuse women.

Hard work doesn't mean success, and success doesn't mean someone worked hard.

Your right to have a noisy dog or children doesn't trump everyone else's right to a bit of peace now and then.

Cyclists should be taxed and licensed.

Strictly Come Dancing is for middle class morons in the same way X Factor is for lower class morons.

A bottle of wine a night does not make you a "heavy drinker".

A bottle of wine a night does not make you a ‘heavy drinker’

Drinking a bottle of wine every night has been normalised by society but consuming this much wine can eventually cause liver damage, heart damage and cancer. it IS a lot of alcohol no matter how ‘normal’ it may seem to you. A glass of wine an evening is moderate consumption, a bottle a night is binge drinking. You are deluding yourself.

Actually that should read, ‘you really should stop your car shitting in other people’s gardens’.

There’s a difference between smacking and child abuse.

Bumblenums1234 · 07/08/2021 16:02

That of you irrange to go for a meal and invite other people, it is normal for the attendees to pay for themselves.

essentialhealing · 07/08/2021 16:03

At how many women on MN are in an awful relationship but then go on to have children and things get worse then come on here moaning about the father

They must be tone deaf to have not heard the alarm bells before they had children

Musication · 07/08/2021 16:03

Most people who are overweight or obese are so because they eat too much, not because of underlying medical issues.

People overindulge their dogs

SmashingBlouson · 07/08/2021 16:10

Fucking everything. If you have an opinion on here it needs to be massively polarised and delivered with rage (opinions are overrated and the source of all strife, in my opinion Grin).

Even if you post something about eating crisps on here, someone will turn into the incredible hulk over it and write snipey comments about how you are setting a bad example by eating them in front of your kids.

AIBU is utter madness really. Full of unstable keyboard warriors, bullshitters, activists, journalists or people who just find it all entertaining.

notanothertakeaway · 07/08/2021 16:13

Many professionals work hard, not just teachers

SmashingBlouson · 07/08/2021 16:14

@fluffythedragonslayer

I once started a thread about crisps - I wondered what posh/expensive crisps people liked as I was splashing out on some nice treats for a rare solo train journey. I got told I was selfish and awful for eating crisps on a train, people were glad they don't have to use public transport because of people like me, and the likes of "for fucks sake it's a train not a party venue" 😂 When all I really wanted to know was, are sea salt and chardonnay vinegar crisps really worth it? 😂

I don't start threads on here anymore!

Well I rest my case. I read you post after adding mine a couple of minutes ago. I was right then.

Worrying that you think that's an uncontroversial view...

Your dog/cat is not your "darling boy" or your "darling girl". S/he is a dog/cat.

Honestly a glass of wine, some crisps and a night on AIBU is absolutely top-drawer entertainment imo.

DolphinFC · 07/08/2021 16:19

Some women marry for shallow reasons ( money, looks) then moan there is no emotional depth in their marriage.

Pringell · 07/08/2021 16:21

That overuse of the F word is ugly, aggressive and childish.

wordsareveryunnecessary · 07/08/2021 16:22

Rappers that use really foul language are very offensive and have a huge influence on some youths to lean to gang culture

AlternativePerspective · 07/08/2021 16:29

Tbh I think it’s worrying that most of the opinions voiced on here as “non controversial” are actually controversial.

Things like crisps on a train or jam or cream on scones (which order do they go in anyway?) are just generalised things, and the jam and cream on scones is one which comes up whenever people go for afternoon tea, after all,”

But ear piercing on babies, normalising the drinking of a whole bottle of wine every night to name a couple are definitely controversial and shouldn’t be deemed less so.

One of the reasons why we have so many issues with alcohol in this country is because it’s been normalised so much. So we have happy hour in pubs and bars, we have talk of it being “wine o’clock,” there are threads saying that you can’t have fun with someone if they don’t drink. And yet alcohol is potentially more damaging than some illegal drugs precisely because it has been normalised so much.
