You guys need to stop filling the thread when nothing is happening!!

In the meantime I had the most amazing nights sleep last night. Absolutely full of food and had an amazing day and frankly this morning I couldn't care if he's there for 6 months Grin

@ChainJane

I can't help but think this won't end well. The man will get his mates to pull the fence or gate down and then he will just "happen" to turn up a moment or two later, "find" that the gate is open and drive off. I mean, I know the OP can get it on camera but if the people who pull the gate down obscure their number plate and wear masks it'll be difficult to prove who it was - I guess there's not a huge amount of CCTV in the area.

Personally I'd just leave the gate open and let him collect the car. Weak but preferable to having to replace a damaged gate that's been pulled down. That said, the OP is quite well off, so if you can afford it then go for it!

Leaving the gate open invalidates OP's insurance though, that's the point. She literally cannot leave the gates open.

I am just sitting here thinking of what kind of woman would be married to this man and have children with him. Should I feel sorry for her or is she an utter twat like CF? Confused What sort of people would be friends with this CF? 'That woman locked your car in when you dickishly parked on her property so let's drive to her place at 10pm and try to figure out how to break it out instead of knocking, apologising and ending this in a civilised way.'

If he is regularly driving past your house OP then he must have someone driving him because if by chance your gate is open then who would drive the other car back? (need 2 drivers) Who on earth would say 'I have absolutely nothing else to do so yes CF I'll drive you around to the OP's property every few hours day and night on the off chance she's left the gates open'.

I wonder what CF is telling his wife and mates who are tagging him on FB? If OP has explained the situation on FB then how can CF come back with any plausible excuses?? I feel bad for CF's children. Woman comes out 'you can't park here' CF does anyways 'It's ok kids, we're special and can do whatever we want' then finds gate locked 'It's ok kids, climb through onto the private property and get to the car don't mind the dogs guarding private property' and then somehow get back to their own property minus the car 'it's ok kids that bitch locked us in it's all her fault' same story to the wife and friends 'sorry kids we can't go to the carvery today because that bitch won't allow us to get our car'.
Imagine going through life not taking responsibility for yourself and teaching your children to do the same. Sad

I completely agree with pp. Phone the FC today and tell them CF is blocking access and has been told multiple times to move the car. Don't post on here or FB that FC is coming to damage move the car out of their way. (Post here afterwards, with photos!!:)

I'm also thinking in some private car parks there are signs saying 'Driver parks at own risk we can't be responsible for cars left here' or something so could you (or the pp who has the abandoned car at the golf club) put a sign that says something like 'cars left here will be towed at owner's expense'?
When is your next hay delivery OP? CF is blocking access to you feeding your horses if the FC don't turn up first?

I can't believe people can park on private land and there is nothing the land owner can do. Can you phone the media OP? Get them to do a story about CF parking on private land and the limitations of the land owners? CF who is very concerned about appearances will undoubtedly not be pleased with his car being flashed all over the television and the start of a petition to have the laws changed? (I'd sign the petition and contact my local MP to support a law change if it comes to that!:)

KindleAndCake · 02/08/2021 11:25

Hes still not picked it up 😲

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/08/2021 11:26

I wonder if it’s actually his car? Perhaps he was visiting for the weekend and it’s actually a hire car. He’s now gone home to darkest peru and the car is no longer his problem?

As far as I'm aware, hire companies do tend to want their cars back after the hire period has elapsed - and will continue to charge your card and eventually prosecute you if it isn't returned. How handy it would be if you could pay the weekend hire charge and then just keep the car forever!

I agree that he has no concept of a world that isn't a 'standard' Monday-Friday, 9-5 and thinks that the gates will be left opened after the weekend once everybody has had their fun and is 'back at work'. Like the high-up managers of our hospital who send out emails using phrases like 'by close of business today', meaning 5pm on a weekday.

SnickettyLemon · 02/08/2021 11:26

He is a bloke, he obviously thinks he has the upper hand. He will not want to lose face and hopes that you will give up the game before he does. Stubborn deluded f**ker!

lastcall · 02/08/2021 11:29

I would be willing to bet the late evening appearance of 4 men who milled around outside the gates for a while included the Cheeky Fucker who is still unwilling to knock and apologise and ask politely if he can have his car back. Just can't bring himself to apologise to a woman...

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/08/2021 11:29

I wonder if this man we're all assuming isn't the shiniest penny in the purse is actually playing us all like balalaikas. His name is Toby, profits at his national carvery chain have rocketed by 200% and he's already written the cost of buying a decoy car off against his promotions budget Grin

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 02/08/2021 11:30

If any damage is done to the op's property then that is criminal damage and the police could become involved ,it would be difficult for him to pretend it had nothing to do with him and is just a coincidence.

over50andfab · 02/08/2021 11:31

As I think you said you’d be contacting the FC this morning, perhaps also post on the FB group saying you are doing this so that the FC are aware in case they need (emergency) access whereby they’d have to shunt any obstructive vehicles out of the way.

I’m a little concerned that he might return, possibly with others, when your DB had gone and at night time. Do you have outdoor cameras? At the very least be prepared to record any engagement and rinse and repeat on the gates needing to be kept padlocked. His car on your property actually presents an extra risk if anything as he could potentially steal something and store it in the vehicle prior to picking it up.

lastcall · 02/08/2021 11:32

At this point, I'd probably take another picture of the locked in vehicle and send it off to the DM myself along with the owners name (which you have) and the explanation of how he rudely refused to move his car, even after being warned the gates would be locked in 5 minutes, and now refuses to come and apologise so he can have it back. name and shame the twat

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 02/08/2021 11:33

Spoke to my friendly neighbourhood FC ranger. They aren't planning on being up this neck of the woods (pun intended) any time soon. Hes happy get it towed out the way if I want and it may or may not end up in the large pothole on the other side of the road.

Pros - moves it, it might get damaged as it's on the road.
Cons - he can just shift it, any damage could be claimed on FC insurance.

He says if it's left as it is and emergency services do need get through they'll just ram / bump it out the way and then tell him claim on their insurance because obviously in an emergency they don't have time faff about hunting for an owner.

Hes also recommended reporting it to the council. It's unlikely they'll class it as abandoned right now as its taxed, MOTd etc and in good working order but if it doesn't move at least they already aware and can start the notice period.

Currently I'm unbothered and petty enough to leave it at it is because it's not in the way. I'm not even annoyed anymore just slightly bemused.

DB has not replaced the toy army because he doesn't feel they should be penalised by being left out in all weather guarding the car. He is now proposing a photo shoot of him in his boxers draped over the car. He will then develop the film and sellotape them all over the car. He may or may not have asked his mates for suggestions which is why they getting more ridiculous.

Do you think CF and his goons might have been digging a tunnel in the car park opposite last night, and are currently underground, linking it up to OP's farm? How funny if they get their calculations slightly wrong and end up making the final push before the car falls square on their heads! I presume they're all named Jack?! Grin

thelegohooverer · 02/08/2021 11:34

I think I’d want to log last night’s incident with the police, just in case it was related.

dapsnotplimsolls · 02/08/2021 11:35

I bet it was him and his mates last night, CFs all of them!

Fernando072020 · 02/08/2021 11:36

I'd just go with doing nothing, op. Don't try to find the owner anymore, don't let FC move it.

The photo shoot though, that can be done 😂

Yesitsbess · 02/08/2021 11:37

I second the photoshoot idea.

Fernando072020 · 02/08/2021 11:37

@thelegohooverer

I agree with this as well. Good to have a record incase he does try anything else.
yellowsubmarines · 02/08/2021 11:39

I'd get the car towed. It will likely cause damage and the CF will have the nuisance of having to claim and wait for the car in the garage and everyone local will know why it's damaged. It won't teach him a lesson because these dickheads never learn but at least it'll be out of your way and you won't have his mates turning up at your house at all hours casing your gates.

The other option is the council so at least it's logged with them in case CF regularly leaves his car on private property. If CF gets a letter from the council then he'll have X number of days to collect and the council might charge him for the tow if he doesn't collect it within the time frame? If he does collect it he'll have to face you and hopefully DB and the rest of the village can be there to watch? Grin

KarlUrbansWife · 02/08/2021 11:39

Definitely agree with this. I'd be logging every aspect of this with them now, from the beginning.

KarlUrbansWife · 02/08/2021 11:39

Logging with the police, I mean

Wizzbangfizz · 02/08/2021 11:39

Get it towed!

idontunderstandbananas · 02/08/2021 11:41

If you log last night's incident with the police then also log the one the night before? I think you'd mentioned there have been two incidents of random people turning up and having a look around? Also if these incidents are at about the same time then there's a pattern you can look out for at the same time tonight.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/08/2021 11:42

Cons - he can just shift it, any damage could be claimed on FC insurance.

I'm not so sure about that. Surely the FC's insurers don't just automatically pay up without investigating what happened, do they? Wouldn't CF also have to involve his own insurers, and possibly see a hike in his premiums?

Even if your car is parked legally and a drunk driver rams into it, you often see your own premiums go up, so a scenario where he's parked unattended on private property and blocking an essential central body's right of access (instead of on his drive or wherever his premium is based on) surely wouldn't go down well for him?

Even if he did get all repairs paid for by FC insurers with no repercussions or financial penalties himself, it's still a huge load of faff for the sake of his pointless selfishness. Plus, in cases like that, you can never know if there might have been any further knock-on damage that only becomes evident further down the line.

Mountainpika · 02/08/2021 11:44

Photoshoot - draped over the vehicle - starkers but with strategically placed Yorkshire puddings.

ChainJane · 02/08/2021 11:45

Sorry didn't realise about the insurance.

In that case I agree you should get it towed so it's out of your way. Maybe then post on facebook that there's an abandoned car at a particular location, hopefully potential joyriders will find it and take it away/torch it for you.
