What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Slipped disc with associated sciatica - it was so unbearably painful when it twanged that my body spontaneously flailed and I had tears in my eyes. I lost power to my legs and could shuffle with a stick but needed someone to help me move from sitting to standing. I was in so much pain that I was dripping with sweat. All hail diazepam.

Period pain, I get an extreme version that without serious painkillers is unbearable. Javelin arse and pain all the way down to my ankles. Vomiting and fainting with diarrhoea as a bonus. Every sodding month.

Migraine where I need earplugs, a blindfold and could still bash my head against a wall to try and stop the relentless pain. Oh and I vomit too, nice extra.

Blood clot in the brain - thanks birth control for that!

Catmother20 · 28/07/2021 23:24

Trigeminal neuralgia worse than child birth for me

Billi77 · 28/07/2021 23:26

Kidney stones and sciatica. Worse than my childbirth and breaking my foot

Redact · 28/07/2021 23:27

A shattered hip, I've never felt pain like it.

HollaHolla · 28/07/2021 23:29

Kidney stones. Trying to pass a massive pne in hospital, which ended up with lithotripsy to break it up. That was fun.

However, I’ve had 4 herniated discs, resulting in three surgeries, and the permanent damage to my sciatic nerve is such that I have constant nerve paon. It’s lower level, but constant - which I find more wearing.

A miscarriage combined with a supposed burst ovarian cyst at the same time. I actually wanted to die.
Even a suspected perf to my uterus a year or 2 later while it was horrendous still wasn't as bad.

Socksorter · 28/07/2021 23:31

Gallstones, followed by inflamed gallbladder, followed by removal, a real rollercoaster of pain

Grimacingfrog · 28/07/2021 23:33

Undiagnosed gallstones (they told me it was a UTI - I knew it wasn't) followed by some lovely pancreatitis, as a result of the untreated gallstones. That was a fun couple of days!

sweetpeapea · 28/07/2021 23:34

Childbirth. Without exception. Then period pains.

Teddicus · 28/07/2021 23:35

Toothache. Recently had a root canal abscess that moved into my jaw and face. The pain was unbelievable, I was pacing and growling all night like a demented animal. At least in childbirth you get short break between contractions. This toothache was like a drill in the head.

Thepollonator · 28/07/2021 23:36

An SAH (brain haemorrhage)

Starjammer · 28/07/2021 23:37

Kidney stones. Worse than labour for me

FortniteBoysMum · 28/07/2021 23:37

I skipped a smear test. Ended up a 5 year gap in between. As a result I had cin level 3 cells so borderline of cancer. The procedure to remove them was OK it was the injection into the cervix before hand that was awful. I still cannot decide which was worse between that and back to back labour. At least the labour meant holding a baby after.

Tombero · 28/07/2021 23:37

Perianal abscess and the packing of the wound the district nurses had to do daily after surgery on it. Although that may have felt unnecessarily bad as I was breastfeeding an 8 week old so couldn’t have the normal pain killers they give.

Toothache.
Walkoflife · 28/07/2021 23:46

Ear infection,
It was so bad I felt like I’d been punched in the side of the face.’
I remember waking during the night as painkillers were wearing off and actually crying it was so painful.

I’ve had 2 children and I didn’t cry during labour or birth so it was even worse than that!

Tiramiwho · 28/07/2021 23:49

Finger trapped in an infant school toilet door when my friend closed it by accident.
Think I must have been 7. It went from purple to black and fascinated me for weeks..

balloonsintrees · 28/07/2021 23:49

Broken hip for three years which morphine didn't alleviate as well as monthly migraines where I wanted to rip one side of my head off.

Jenasaurus · 28/07/2021 23:49

its a toss up between toothache and gallstones

EmmaOvary · 28/07/2021 23:50

Ear infection.

C section recovery.

And anal sex the first time 🥸

Themadcatparade · 28/07/2021 23:50

Contractions during childbirth were horrendous. I have a four hour gap in my memory before they decided to try epidural, aparently I was just curled up not responding in pain until then Blush

Second is toothache

Then heartbreak

Last but most recently the body pains i felt for two full weeks when I had covid.

Backofbeyond50 · 28/07/2021 23:51

Probably a miscarriage as the pain is physical and mental.

Zealois · 28/07/2021 23:52

I've experienced some awful tooth pain but the worst pain I've felt is the headache I got after a lumbar puncture. I was wishing for death.
