What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

But it was infected

CirqueDeMorgue · 28/07/2021 20:22

Apart from childbirth, I'd agree with toothache. Also, my arm after my tetanus jab...

Awalkintime · 28/07/2021 20:22

Sciatica
Dislocated shoulder
A plane landing when I had sinusitis - I actually thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head!

HippeePrincess · 28/07/2021 20:22

My broken ankle was much worse than my two natural labours!

2020newbie · 28/07/2021 20:23

Trigeminal nueralgia

KindnessMyFriends · 28/07/2021 20:23

Childbirth, first one ventoose, second one forceps. Gall bladder.

OneMamaAndHerGirl · 28/07/2021 20:23

I don’t think anything will trump toothache!

HerRoyalNotness · 28/07/2021 20:23

I damaged my shoulder earlier in the year. I went to a&e and got sent home with drugs and a sling. The next day I was on my knees howling with pain. I screamed in triage, screamed in the waiting room, screamed getting onto the bed for the CT. They had to give me Valium and morphine. They actually didn’t do anything to fix it, just sent me home with better drugs. Still no idea what it was but may have been the dent I had in my humorous getting caught on something. Had surgery a month later.

The worst pain of my life, even worse than my EMCS and CS recovery. Never been in such agony before.

OneMamaAndHerGirl · 28/07/2021 20:23

Oh my goodness but a broken rib at 9 months pregnant comes very close

ForeverSinging · 28/07/2021 20:24

Piles and anal fissures.

Mrstreehouse · 28/07/2021 20:24

I slashed my foot open on a machete once, really deep gash and pouring blood in the middle of nowhere in Goa, then some helpful local chucked a glass of feni ( Indian homebrew, almost pure alcohol) on it and I nearly passed out. Have had kids, gallstones and suffer from excruciating migraines but that was the worst.

JillsFlapjacks · 28/07/2021 20:25

Sciatica with muscle spasms in my lower back. Absolute hell, I'd rather do childbirth again than experience it.

StoneofDestiny · 28/07/2021 20:25

Sciatica - really bad

AddressLabel · 28/07/2021 20:25

Child birth. Honestly thought I’d pushed my intestines out my bum hole too🤣.
Toothache wasn’t nice, but active child birth was far, far worse.

Poolbridge · 28/07/2021 20:25

Endometriosis, unknown and untreated for 14 years, till having fertility investigations and they removed the smallest amount and now I am pain free very month. This was my WORST pain. I can hardly believe I put up with it that long, and was constantly told it was just some bad period pain.

And my endometriosis was much more painful than gallstones.

ICSI egg removal (needles being inserted into your ovaries) under ‘conscious sedation’ also took my breath away from the brutal and intense pain - but thankfully lasted only 30 mins. The worst thing was in so much pain, and awake, but numbed from the sedation couldn’t speak or do anything to alert them I was in a bad way.

Elphame · 28/07/2021 20:25

A Trigeminal neuralgia flare

Iamsodonewith2020 · 28/07/2021 20:26

Infected wisdom tooth. Literally cried in pain. Way worse than childbirth x4!!

KisstheTeapot14 · 28/07/2021 20:26

Migraine during flu.

Could not have any serious pain meds 111 said as I was breastfeeding. I wept.

A weird gastro bug in winter 2013 - no vomiting/poo explosions but the most severe stomach cramps - worse than giving birth.

DH had been taken into hospital with same and they gave him morphone and looked for major organ damage as pain was off chart. He is really stoical but eyes rolling in head/passing out type pain.

I got it a few days after when we were staying with his family in London. In agony. But knew no point in A&E. Do wonder if whatever that bug was triggered CFS though. No idea what it was and thank god DS who was only about 3 then didn't get it.

I was a right mess, crying and on all 4's rocking back and forth with awful spasms of pain. Codeine made it slightly better. I had lived abroad years before (India) and had had plenty of experience of nasty gastro including a delightful bout of amoebic dysentery but none matched the 2013 Very Weird Bug!

I take my hat of to people who live with chronic pain, must be hellish.

DeadButDelicious · 28/07/2021 20:26

Kidney stones. Give me childbirth any day!

vintageglass · 28/07/2021 20:26

Period pains worse than childbirth, they made me pass out. Burst Ovarian cyst. Ripping my hamstring that everyone around me heard, thought it was the sound of my jeans ripping but it wasn't! 2 herniated disc, God the electric shocks when trying to walk were agony.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 28/07/2021 20:26

Sciatica

TooManyAnimals94 · 28/07/2021 20:26

Kidney infection and broken collar bone...specifically trying to shower, dress move with said broken bone.

jaundicedoutlook · 28/07/2021 20:27

I say birth, DH says kidney stone.

As he’s never given birth and I’ve never had kidney stones we’ve just agreed to disagree.

Slicing right through to the bone between the two joints of my left index finger with a razor sharp santoku knife comes a very close second.

heidihigh · 28/07/2021 20:27

Definitely dental abscess. Toothache is the worst Envy

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/07/2021 20:27

dislocating my knee

I am a tough old boot and I passed out repeatedly, sweat on upper lip-absolutely awful
