Are you arriving by taxi? If you are going alone maybe you can share with some other single friends? If you all chip in you can probably get something quite nice. It would be fun if you could co-ordinate outfits, but without being too matchy matchy. Pastels for them?

When you make a speech I think it will probably be important to make it from the bride's POV. Give advice on the first night nuptials - based on your lived experience. Share the key points in the decline of your relationship so that she can benefit from your advice and learn. It all sounds adorable and sooooo modern :)

I think it's fine. All my friends wore the same to my wedding and I didn't even notice My MIL wore a beautiful floor length black gown with a lace fascinator, was beautiful.
