You will look like a bride.

SpindleWhorl · 26/07/2021 18:02

@Howdidigetsoold

I think you should see if the MIL will wear something similar as well
Yes, you could team up your outfit with your ex MiL's ensemble in a clever play on the themes of everlasting bonded love, mourning and re-birth. The bride will adore it.
TheNeverEndingOver · 26/07/2021 18:12

Sudden influx of people saying it's bridal looking? Just not getting that vibe at all. I think its perfect OP. Accessorise with something blue and a nice bunch of flowers to set the look off.

Can you not save some money and wear the dress you wore when you married your exh?

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/07/2021 18:15

@merrymouse

Are you being serious??!!! That’s a brides dress.

I honestly think its fine to wear white to a wedding these days. Must be OK if the Duchess of Cambridge did it.

The suit at H&M wedding was Yellow.

Anyway back to the thread. Perfect dress. But why wouldn’t you style the veil to cover your face? Or floor length? That one simply won’t do.

Congressdingo · 26/07/2021 18:15

@SpindleWhorl I spat my food out. Brava.

CreakingatTheWhinges · 26/07/2021 18:16

Just popping up to ask that age old question: are you on glue?! If not, definitely have some & take it to the wedding too of course!
If you want to give a really useful wedding present, I'm sure the MN crew could write an ode memoir on how many meals you can get out of a Sunday roast chicken leftover & if we all sub in, get it published in hardback & everything? Smile

BajanB · 26/07/2021 18:19

What about something a bit less traditional. As a guest it’s so tempting to honour the occasion by sticking to tried and tested styles but these teamed with a fascinator or simple buttonhole posy would be fashion forward as well as great for walking/dancing in. Also you wouldn’t need to take 3 mates to the bog with you every time you needed a pee.

Since it is for your EXDH's wedding, you could perhaps go even more Miss Havisham : turn up only partly done up in the dress and with just the one shoe? Could the train be slightly moth-eaten and the flowers DEAD? Offer a mouse-eaten cake as a present? Remember to exclaim 'beggar him' at any quiet moment?

Too gothic?

Yeah, not getting a bridal vibe here either. Classy, elegant, neutral, classic is all I see.

LOL.
sotiredofthislonelylife · 26/07/2021 18:25

Absolutely not - it’s a bridal dress!!
Guests must never, ever, try to upstage the bride. 😳😳😳

Zelaidee · 26/07/2021 18:25

If I were the bride I would be very upset . It is not appropriate to wear anything similar to a bridal dress to a wedding , even with red shoes

ledesertsacre · 26/07/2021 18:41

I don't know. I'm on the fence. It's a little understated.
I think you could accessorize with some bits left over from the hen night, (I'm sure you were invited) just to, you know, jazz it up a bit. Some nice pink handcuffs, perhaps, you could slip them round the grooms wrists at the right moment?

Well what colour shoes would you suggest?
Sadiecow · 26/07/2021 18:44

@pam290358

Is this a joke ? If you turned up at my wedding dressed like this you’d be ejected - red shoes or not !!!
Ok what if she toned the shoes down to a cerise?
Sadiecow · 26/07/2021 18:46

@ledesertsacre what do you think about cerise?

Burgess67A · 26/07/2021 18:47

Is it your wedding???? No you can’t wear that !

ledesertsacre · 26/07/2021 18:49

I think even @Zelaidee and @pam290358 would have to agree that cerise would really tone down the outfit, so if that is what the OP is after, it'd probably be better than the red.

TheGumption · 26/07/2021 18:51

Don't the people getting arsey with the OP feel embarrassed of themselves?!😂 what an awkward read this was.
OP the dress is stunning. I'd recommend a bolero.

merrymouse · 26/07/2021 18:52

OK, so if white is still a problem (some people do make mountains out of molehills!). this dress could also work in a very pale yellow.

LavenderAskew · 26/07/2021 18:52

It's lovely, but to honest, I think it's a bit bland for a wedding guest outfit.

Do you think you could fid something similar but with a bigger skirt? It would make it more weddingy.
