All in the vein of "What if we just... don't," described in previous threads.

Trump tested obstruction of justice to the limits by preventing witnesses and documents reaching the impeachment trial(s), and it worked well for him.

So why wouldn't they all follow his example? When there's little or no penalty for failing to testify, and potentially a major penalty for testifying (if their wrongdoing is found out) why would they do it.

The crunch is that, if the obstruction of the investigation is done thoroughly enough that they successfully conceal wrongdoing, then they can play the circular game that Bill Barr did with the Mueller report and say, "You haven't proved wrongdoing has been committed... therefore there cannot have been any obstruction of justice."

Dominic Cummings has successfully played the same game in the UK. He is still in contempt of Parliament for having refused to appear before a committee. Consequences for him: being invited into No 10 to be Prime Minister's grand vizier (ie de facto Prime Minister, given Johnson's vacuousness).

'Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Wednesday told Lucy Koh, a Korean American judicial nominee, that her Korean background reminds him of his daughter-in-law telling him that Koreans have “a hard work ethic” and “can make a lot out of nothing.”

“So I congratulate you and your people,” Grassley told Koh.'

A US judge has temporarily blocked a controversial new law in Texas that effectively bans women from having an abortion in the state.
District Judge Robert Pitman granted a request by the Biden administration to prevent any enforcement of the law while its legality is being challenged.

The evidence is there but Trump is still as free as a bird. Ready to dump on the world again in 2024.

However, good news this morning that this Trump atrocity has been overturned.

Biden to restore Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante monuments.
President to expand sites shrunk under Trump, in win for environmental advocates and Indigenous leaders.

I detect a degree of disillusionment with DOJ and others charged with these investigations -- even the question of what happens (or doesn't) when a subpoena is ignored.

'In a chilling new interview former White House communications director and press secretary Stephanie Grisham says she was involved in something “unusually evil” working in Donald Trump’s administration.

“I don’t think I can ’rebrand,’” Grisham confessed in an early online version of an article that appears in the Monday issue of New York magazine.'

"They are coming out of the woodwork for Trump."

Yes, that sums it up very nicely. Things that crawl out of the woodwork generally need a quick blast of Flit. (Other insecticides are available.)

'Hillary Clinton admitted her debut political thriller with Canadian mystery writer Louise Penny features a very familiar character.

During an interview on Monday’s episode of “Late Night,” host Seth Meyers pointed out that the pair’s new fictional book, “State of Terror,” contains a “reckless” former president from Palm Beach, Florida.

“Well, lotta people live in Palm Beach,” Clinton deadpanned in response.'
