Jared Kushner is who Damien from The Omen would have grown up to be.

Kavanaugh = Squee. Probably the sound he made when he learnt he'd been nominated for the SCOTUS. Probably the sound he also makes upon reaching orgasm. If he ever does.

So is he likening himself to the Taliban?

Trump asks judge to force Twitter to lift ban.
thehill.com/policy/technology/575009-trump-asks-judge-to-force-twitter-to-un-ban-him

In Friday's filing, the former president's attorneys allege that Twitter "exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate."

The filing also argues that Twitter had selectively enforced its policies, noting that the Taliban appeared on the platform in August.

"Over the weeks that followed, Twitter allowed the Taliban to tweet regularly about their military conquests and victories across Afghanistan. The Taliban's Twitter account is active to this day," the filing states.

What happened to the gladiator school...?

Bannon fires up 'shock troops' for next GOP White House.
www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/bannon-fires-shock-troops-next-gop-white-house-n1280591

Scores of former Trump political appointees gathered at a GOP social club Wednesday night to hear Steve Bannon detail how they could help the next Republican president reconfigure government.

"If you’re going to take over the administrative state and deconstruct it then you have to have shock troops prepared to take it over immediately," Bannon said in a telephone interview with NBC News. "I gave 'em fire and brimstone."
.....
Bannon said he wants to see pre-trained teams ready to jump into federal agencies when the next Republican president takes office. For the most part, that means the tiers of presidential appointees whose postings don't require Senate confirmation.

"We’re going to have a sweeping victory in 2022 and that’s just the preamble to a sweeping victory in 2024, and this time we’re going to be ready — and have a MAGA perspective, MAGA policies, not the standard Republican policies," he said, referring to Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan and describing a 2024 electoral victory as a "second term."

..."exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate."

Sounds more like what Doofus' lawyers should be saying about HIM and the GOP.

And Steve Bannon is a dangerous, dangerous man. He's about the destruction of democracy not the 'saving' of America.

A day late, but it's good to have SNL back.

On Texas, I suspect it will take a lot more than street demonstrations. Sad

The Facebook whistleblower, Frances Haugen, will be giving evidence to a Senate committee today.

“Protecting Kids Online: Testimony from a Facebook Whistleblower” at 10:00 a.m EDT, ie 3pm British Summer Time.

Although obviously focussing on child safety, the session may be quite interesting about Facebook's activities in mass manipulation and role as a media giant.

lionheart · 05/10/2021 16:13

Thanks Perking.

Interesting on so many counts, I would think. Smile

PerkingFaintly · 05/10/2021 16:36

This is a really good committee session!

I missed the beginning and am having connectivity probs.

But this is one I'll be going back and watching from the beginning!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/10/2021 16:51

Here's an "interesting" take on this story:

www.rawstory.com/steve-bannon-facebook-psyops/

Does it in fact make any sense at all and I have missed the reasoning, or is he in fact talking complete bollocks?

The only sense Bannon's blather makes is that:

a) he only has one theme, which is that he / his guy are martyred heroes;

b) Trumpism makes a great deal of use of Facebook et al's algorithms which prioritise clicks over factual and civic integrity. Trumpie shock-jock stuff and Facebook are basically made for one another. Anything which threatens that, eg looking under the hood of algorithms, makes Bannon unhappy.

So no, there's no actual content to what he said there. It's just verbal diarrhoea on his usual theme.

But I'm getting a warm glow from knowing he's unhappy.Grin

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/oct/06/trump-aides-capitol-attack-house-select-committee

'Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and other top aides subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack are expected to defy orders for documents and testimony related to 6 January, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The move to defy the subpoenas would mark the first major investigative hurdle faced by the select committee and threatens to touch off an extended legal battle as the former president pushes some of his most senior aides to undercut the inquiry.

All four Trump aides targeted by the select committee – Meadows, deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, strategist Steve Bannon and defense department aide Kash Patel – are expected to resist the orders because Trump is preparing to direct them to do so, the source said.'
