Random car parked on my drive!

UftUft · 23/07/2021 20:39

dh has just come back from work and parked across the road. I asked why he hasn't parked on our driveway and he said he thought we had visitors.
I've gone out and there's a random car on our driveway! Knocked on neighbours door but they don't know who's it is. (They are really nice and we get on with them so they would have told them to move if it was anything to do with them).
AIBU to move the car and block them in?

Oh what total numpties. I'll probably get lynched for this but I'd put them out of their misery perhaps after one more update.

CanofCant · 23/07/2021 23:01

Hmm, whether I would put them out of their misery or not depends on whether the 'right' neighbour had given them permission to park on their drive or if the CF were just aware the neighbours were on holiday and chancing their arm.

Yes, by brother in law is a police officer[/quote]
Even better. Could you get him to pop round in uniform and give them the 'well this is what happens when we park where we shouldn't' speech?

WorraLiberty · 23/07/2021 23:02

Last time I read one of these threads, it turned out the OP's drive had been put on a parking app and some poor bloke had actually paid a scammer to park on it! Shock

ReginaaPhalange · 23/07/2021 23:02

Nah sorry I don't believe that!! I believe they are CFs and speaking loudly enough for you to hear and think they made a mistake....

I think they are panicking that they are busted and will try make up situations! If that was the case, surely the female would have knocked and apologised and explained the situation?

AuntieDolly · 23/07/2021 23:02

Just move your car when they're not looking

titchy · 23/07/2021 23:04

Your dh needs to don his hazmat suit and start spraying round the tyres and door handles Grin

MadeForThis · 23/07/2021 23:05

Don't let them off.

They didn't have permission to park on anyone's drive.

Teach them a lesson. For us!!

BruceAndNosh · 23/07/2021 23:06

Peer out bedroom window, check where they are and wait until they move away.

Use your car remote to unlock and relock your car, the hazard lights should flash.
Watch their reaction...

These threads are the best thing about Mumsnet!!! I'm not sure I'd take pity though....I reckon it might be time for bed, pity, they'll have to
Come back tomorrow...

MotionActivatedDog · 23/07/2021 23:07

@AuntieDolly

Just move your car when they're not looking
Yes reverse out then turn the car around and park it back on the drive facing the other way. Grin
WorraLiberty · 23/07/2021 23:07

When they knock, stumble out the door with an empty wine bottle in your hand and tell them you're too drunk to move it tonight.

TheSunShinesBrighter · 23/07/2021 23:08

Never end their misery. Their misery is our entertainment.

Harsh but true

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 23/07/2021 23:09

Yes reverse out then turn the car around and park it back on the drive facing the other way

Please do this.

What a glorious 15 pages! Absolutely LOVE a parking thread! 🤌🏼

ReginaaPhalange · 23/07/2021 23:12

@UftUft awww please don't say he's moving the car to let them out???

RevolvingPivot · 23/07/2021 23:12

They are making this harder on themselves by waiting. They should have just knocked and apologised.

CanofCant · 23/07/2021 23:12

I hope they don't come back and zoom off while he is doing it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/07/2021 23:12

@WorraLiberty

This!

Whilst also shouting your neighbour in a faux pissed up way "OI!! NEIGHBOUR!!! These are the arseholes that parked on your drive the other day!!!"

UftUft · 23/07/2021 23:13

Car the opposite way around now... They didn't come out...

RevolvingPivot · 23/07/2021 23:13

I was going to say why not move the car and go to bed.
