Random car parked on my drive!

dh has just come back from work and parked across the road. I asked why he hasn't parked on our driveway and he said he thought we had visitors.
I've gone out and there's a random car on our driveway! Knocked on neighbours door but they don't know who's it is. (They are really nice and we get on with them so they would have told them to move if it was anything to do with them).
AIBU to move the car and block them in?

How about a note saying. "Gone on holiday. Back in 2 weeks"

Happyinheels · 23/07/2021 22:52

@MadeForThis

Answer the door and say you are the house sitter.

The owners parked their car before they went on holiday. They'll be back in 2 weeks.

You don't have the keys.

This. 100%
BrozTito · 23/07/2021 22:52

If they thought they knew the house owners they'd have moved the car when they got there and realised it obviously wasnt, or just knocked when they came back. It' l just be a pair of presuming morons

Do you know anyone with a spare roll of POLICE DO NOT CROSS tape. Then all you would need is a couple of friends dressed in CSI suits and a bottle or two of ketchup.........

Snazzysausage · 23/07/2021 22:52

What a cracking crime scene diagram! Your interpretation of you and OH flat out on the sofas is excellent - a live parking thread like this is a rare treat!😂

WaterBottle123 · 23/07/2021 22:52

Well how am I going to go to bed now ?!?!!

BarbaraofSeville · 23/07/2021 22:54

@harverina

Could you fashion a pay n display type machine out of something and place it at the end of your driveway? £5 for every 5 minutes?
Plus a load of rules and regulations in size 4 font that you must do X, Y and Z but cannot do A, B and C and failure to comply will result in a £100 fine.
User135792468 · 23/07/2021 22:55

Hahaha. One or the people must be one of your neighbours who has told their visitor to park on there as you’re away. Just leave a note and tell them to knock and you’ll move your car. Watch them squirm and apologise. At least you know that whilst misguided, they didn’t do it to be complete knobs, they just thought you’d never know.

UftUft · 23/07/2021 22:57

UPDATE!!

Ok so it was 2 men talking earlier...
A female has come back with one of them, conversation went like this...

Female - 'You fcking kidding me you dick, not those neighbours the ones further down'
Male - you said no.** (our house)
Female - no I didn't cant you get anything right. You can knock and ask
Male - I'm not knocking, go get
to knock
Female - f*cking hell! (Goes off swearing and shouting).
Male lingered for a moment... he's followed her back down the road.

Now do I end their misery or not? 🤔

I would just bookmark, but my phone won't let me. Shameless.

PegasusReturns · 23/07/2021 22:57

I almost feel sorry for them! I can see why they might be cheeky enough to park on your drive if they thought you were away and it wouldn’t have caused any harm.

DayPyjamas · 23/07/2021 22:58

Let them sweat 😅

MotionActivatedDog · 23/07/2021 22:58

Nooo! They need to at least knock and very sheepishly ask you to move your car.

Tbf it sounds like they’ve just made a mistake rather than being CFs.

SixesAndEights · 23/07/2021 22:58

No! Don't end their misery!

UftUft · 23/07/2021 22:59

@viques

I'm so invested I am going to get another glass of wine. They will need to make their move soon or you may have gone to bed.

Porcupineintherough · 23/07/2021 22:59

It might not even be cheeky, they may have had permission to park on the drive of someone who was away. Pity they then got the wrong house.

I'd take pity on them OP (now we've had some fun)

Never end their misery. Their misery is our entertainment.
EastWestWhosBest · 23/07/2021 23:00

Oh I feel sorry for them now.

BarbaraofSeville · 23/07/2021 23:00

I do hope that woman is a MNetter and will be posting about her useless DP who had one thing to organise and fucked it up and now they are sleeping in the car on a stranger's drive.

If they do this, take out coffee and bacon butties for them in the morning OP.

UftUft · 23/07/2021 23:01

When they knock we will end the torture.
DH wants to jump out of the bushes next time they come round...
