To be absolutely raging at this selfish garden CF'ery?!?!

So I live in a street where all the gardens face onto each other. Not a problem usually, most people very considerate.

Tonight one set of neighbours have set up an extension cable to move their TV out of the house onto the decking and are blasting (and i mean blasting!) an action movie out for everyone to hear. Think lots of machine gun fire and everything deafening everyone. No one can have their windows open and beyond that, can't enjoy their own garden because of the noise!!!

I'm staggered by this level of entitlement and given they recently had their garden redone, suspect this is not going to be the last time. AIBU to yell at them to take it indoors once it hits 10:30pm??

Think that should have been ‘affects’ - apologies. Not even had my first glass yet.

bemusedmoose · 21/07/2021 19:58

I've done an outdoor movie for the kids BUT it was family friendly, not late and I set the sound up by the bean bags so they could hear it but neighbours couldn't.

They are being selfish arses. Bit like the people on the corner who have a late night outdoor party every f#cking Tues. Kids are a wreck on Wednesday because they can't sleep.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 21/07/2021 20:02

I am learning the bagpipes (in a soundproof commercial studio with my teacher, before anyone complains). I can lend them to you. Most beginners, myself included, sound like a dying cat.

nopuppiesallowed · 21/07/2021 20:14

You're too sensible ever to do this, of course, but I'm picturing you dressing your husband in a short and very sexy usherette's costume and sending him over there with a tray of ice creams - liberally laced with sleeping pills....

HumbugWhale · 21/07/2021 20:25

What you need is a supply of annoying bitey insects to keep releasing over the fence. It wasps. Something to force them back indoors Grin

frumpety · 21/07/2021 20:37

Got a couple of confiscated vuvuzela's on top of the kitchen cupboards I am happy to post to you @GardenCFery Smile

Mollymoostoo · 21/07/2021 20:46

My last neighbors used to have parties till 2/3 am and my husband wouldn't let me tell them to turn it down in case they retaliated with worse. They owned their house and we rented and they felt they had the right to do whatever.

One morning after yet another noisy party my daughter had enough and put her speakers next to their bedroom wall and blasted Mambo No 5 on repeate for about 4 hours.
They never did it again.

WrongWayApricot · 21/07/2021 20:50

I've never been in a garden and thought, this is good but we need a TV out here. I'd rather buy an ac for the living room than get an outdoor TV if it's hot. Am I missing something though, is garden TV better than living room TV? I'd hate to fall asleep in the garden at night.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/07/2021 20:58

@ivykaty44

If they do it again report to licenceing as they are showing a film in the street, it’s classed as broadcasting.

Take a video and send to report

www.gov.uk/showing-films-in-public

www.gov.uk/guidance/entertainment-licensing-changes-under-the-live-music-act

Report to local council

Is this right?

That's handy to know?

ivykaty44 · 21/07/2021 21:04

SchadenfreudePersonified

copyright law is probably tighter and more strict than a lot of other laws, so tackling from this angle may have more effect than from a noise and nuisance aspect.

If this continues then it maybe a channel to investigate

highlandspringtime · 21/07/2021 21:20

Our arsehole ndn has decided Wednesday evening is the perfect night for a booming garden party. Our gardens are tiny so their screeching music is effecting at least 8+ houses rightnow. I'm shattered after an awful day at work but I don't know why I'm surprised as they just dont seem to give a shit about anyone else around them. Can still hear it with all windows closed and now we get the joy of boiling to death inside.

I just dont understand why people are so obsessed with blaring music ALL the f***ing time and why they ALWAYS have to play it in their garden

It makes me more upset because I would just never ever subject everyone surrounding me to my blaring music, its so selfish

Scottsy100 · 21/07/2021 21:22

5% think you are the unreasonable one 🤣 who are these CF’ers, own up!! It’s all perfectly reasonable until it hits a certain time at night especially without forewarning, if it was a one off and they let you know fair enough you can take it occasionally but in my book it’s well out of order

Bunnyfuller · 21/07/2021 21:28

Why do some people feel their wishing to enjoy themselves precludes being considerate to others? ‘They’re just enjoying themselves’ yes, at the cost of everyone around them’s peace and quiet!

Funguy · 21/07/2021 21:40

Contact the Council. That's appalling.

Iwtwab12bow · 21/07/2021 21:45

Oh you poor things . I really feel for you. Horrible to have unreasonable neighbours. Your privacy is everything and your peace, you should be entitled to peace. Local council should help,try the parish council, try the noise abatement society.

JackGrealishIsMyNewManCrush · 21/07/2021 21:49

@GardenCFery YANBU.

Neighbourhoods seem to be waaay more full of entitled, inconsiderate cunts than they were 30 years ago and beyond.

Doesn't help that people have super loud boom box fucking speakers either.

What kind of stupid idiot thought it would be a good idea to recreate a CINEMA with all the surround sound bollux you get with it, to go in to a fucking domestic household in a built up area, with neighbours closeby/joined on?

It was NEVER going to be a good idea. Especially, as I said - some people are arrogant, entitled cunts who think the world revolves around them. AND many threads on here prove - as do many nuisance neighbour programmes, that there are many people like this.

They're the same arseholes who throw rubbish out of their car windows, and let their dog shit on the footpaths, and push in front in queues. Utter, utter cunts.

JudgeJ · 21/07/2021 22:04

@SoundBar

Put your stereo outside and blast music at them until they turn it off.

Try AC DC, or kids Cocomelon videos

Peking Opera would be far more effective!
Imissmoominmama · 21/07/2021 22:09

Wind chimes; lots of them… and a fan.

Dongdingdong · 21/07/2021 22:10

I play music in my garden during the day

@dizzyrabbit Then you are inconsiderate and selfish. Congratulations!

MrsBadcrumble123 · 21/07/2021 22:14

This is why I hate ‘people’

Macncheeseballs · 21/07/2021 22:16

Take up the trumpet or violin, practice in the garden

MrsBadcrumble123 · 21/07/2021 22:16

@Mollymoostoo your daughter is a legend!!

StoneofDestiny · 21/07/2021 22:18

Your neighbours are inconsiderate arses. Nobody has the right to allow their garden activities or noises to transport beyond their boundaries - that means everybody gets to enjoy their own garden their way.

WingingItSince1973 · 21/07/2021 22:18

@QueeniesCroft

For reasons I don't fully understand, I have a foghorn in my attic. It would be coming out for this! See also pressure washer, goose scarer and agricultural-grade sprinkler system (I know why I have the last three things, it's just the foghorn that's a mystery!).
Best thing I've read in ages 🤣
foxandbee · 21/07/2021 22:19

If only noisy CFs could be allocated to live in certain streets with all the other noisy CFs and leave the rest of us in peace. If I ever rule the world, that's what will happen.
