Ditching my mask from today except for in hospital settings

Clearly this is fine legally speaking but AIBU to expect not to be asked to wear a mask from today onwards? I’ll wear one when attending hospital/doctors appointments but that’s it that’s were i draw the line. I shouldn’t be expected to explain myself right? I’ve wore a mask from the beginning and stuck to every rule. I won’t be rushing out to go to nightclubs as I didn’t do that before covid and i don’t suddenly feel the need to surround myself (closely) with lots of other people but I am looking forward to taking my daughter shopping and going to the cinema without having to wear a mask.

@CovidCorvid

Most shops have asked that people continue to wear them to protect the staff. I feel sorry for staff who may feel quite vulnerable over this so am happy to wear them still.
Try telling that to the people who frequent our local Greggs.

They have clear signs up saying no more than 3 people in the shop and masks must be worn.

When I've been in over the last few months I always have maskless people try and push past me when I'm waiting patiently for one of the 3 people already in the shop to come out. I've had people literally say "oh but they're together, they only count as one" or "I only want to pick up some pies". The best is "my wife is on there and I'm just going to join her"

Then they follow me in once I'm able to go in and give me a look of utter triumph as if I'm in the wrong for following the "no more than 3 people" rule the shop imposes. I feel utterly sorry for the workers behind the counter.

Witchesbelazy · 19/07/2021 13:51

It’s fine you don’t have to. Anyone guilting you here is wasting their time. I’ve done my bits it’s enough of masks for me now.

knittingaddict · 19/07/2021 13:51

@Whammyyammy

Well done to the op for those post, albeit imo gloaty, it has certainly show the line between people who still chose to wear one and those who chose not to.

If you see in my paragraph above, I've used the word 'chose' twice, because it is now a personal choice.

People being called foil hat brigade, or sheeple for choosing (see used it again) to continue wear or selfish virus spreaders for not choosing to.
What next, make people sew emblems onto their clothing to indicate they're vaccinated, or have someone follow them ringing a bell shouting 'unvaccinated'....

The guidelines now say its a CHOICE! Get over it on both sides.

My earlier reply was to this post.

Also plenty of staff in supermarkets are ditching their masks so I don’t know why people on here act like all shop staff will be annoyed or feel they are at risk . It’s not the case for many, plenty are choosing to ditch masks themselves.

Nengineer · 19/07/2021 13:55

While there are covidiots there will be Covid. So forever.

Parker231 · 19/07/2021 13:55

I wonder how soon restrictions will be in place again? Other countries have already had to reintroduce them again as case numbers quickly got out of control

MrsDThomas · 19/07/2021 13:56

If it required I’ll wear it when asked. Otherwise no.

If moaning minnie somewhere gives a disgusted look, ill happily tell her that i have a right not to wear it.

entropynow · 19/07/2021 13:57

@ILoveYouILoveYouIDo

I was just out shopping and a safety Marshall for that store, stopped a girl who wasn't wearing a mask. Explaining to her the dangers etc which I thought was wrong.
Yes, how dare people point out the dangers to other people?

FFS listen to yourself. Plus on private property, which shops are, they can do what they want to do.

Nocutenamesleft · 19/07/2021 13:57

@MrsKeats

Quite nocutenamesleft Lots of people can't see that their bad choices affect others.
We’ve had to stay inside. Nearly all of the whole 18 months

Because I can’t trust other people. I did at first. But not now x

knittingaddict · 19/07/2021 13:58
@knittingaddict thinking more about the people crowding round to see what's going on!
Of course you were.

Still think the maskless one created the issue.

Moonwhite · 19/07/2021 13:58

A friend of mine has bipolar and she was stopped some time ago now by a covid marshal who demanded she explain herself so in other words tell him why exactly she was exempt.

I'm not surprised. I'd be a bit baffled in that case too.

KentuckyCriedFricken · 19/07/2021 13:59

I only wear one if I have to go to the hospital or any other medical setting. Haven’t worn one in shops for months.

UrAWizHarry · 19/07/2021 13:59

@TheTallOakTrees

You are on a public forum discussing people wearing masks and you are annoyed that people are discussing wearing masks or whether they are useful.

Nah, sorry. If you don't like your clearly incorrect opinion being challenged, maybe go and find a nice little safe space.

Indeed

I was in Sainsbury's this morning and there were more staff without masks than there were customers.

I wonder if people on here would call them sELfiSH cUNts too?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 19/07/2021 14:01

I'm wearing a mask and big sunglasses everywhere I go. Its been years since I went out without makeup on and nobody could see me. Its great not having to bother.
I may well start wearing full islamic dress so I never have to take my pyjamas off. I can see the attraction now.

entropynow · 19/07/2021 14:02

@everyone complaining that how dare anyone criticise them, why don't you just come clean and admit you don't give a flying fuck about anyone but yourselves and are proud of it, that you regard other people's lives and health as a mere inconvenience. Then at the very least you will have admitted in public what a nasty, nasty piece of work you are.
And anyone who tells me how 'bored' they are will get called a cunt, because that is what they are. Reporting that post btw.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 19/07/2021 14:03

Well good for you. You're big and brave potentially standing up to shop assistants who are doing what their employer asks them to do!

That is what you want to hear right????

Or Otherwise you just want to start an argument.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 19/07/2021 14:03

I find it quite amusing that so many people on here are 'meh' about the hundreds of people packing into nightclubs, but throwing names at people going to the supermarket without masks, as they are apparently self appointed spokespeople for shop workers 😂

paddingtonbearmeetsdeadpool · 19/07/2021 14:10

If that is too hard for you to understand then that really is your lookout, but let's not pretend you have the faintest idea what you are talking about when you say that masks do nothing.

Lockdowns were more effective than face masks. Every time we open up cases start to rise and that was with people wearing face masks. Anyway night clubs are open now and young people will have their sexy time.

The kids at my daughters school are constantly having covid parties. Masks will not keep people still the government is not being honest with its citizens. People are gaging to go to Ibiza or night clubs if its not covid they come back with it will be a sexually transmitted disease. Then they will kiss their parents after, how nice.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 19/07/2021 14:11

I've had covid twice, once before vaccinations with no symptoms at all and once 12 weeks after vaccines with no symptoms at all and was swanning about like typhoid Mary before a random test at work picked it up whereupon I self isolated.
I work with covid patients still so I will be wearing a mask out and about to protect other people.

MrsKeats · 19/07/2021 14:12

Your arguments make no sense at all.
Are you anti vaccine also?

CynsterBitch · 19/07/2021 14:12

@FixTheBone

All I'm saying is I reckon a Venn diagram with Tories, Brexiteers, Mask Deniers and All lives matter apologists would probably be a single circle.
Would not surprise me, a few of my in-laws would be in that circle

No one NEEDS a night club most people NEED food
letmesettle · 19/07/2021 14:13

Whatever your view the govt have been so poor.

This is just a way to create division and an us and them mentality. The mask wearers versus the non mask wearers.

As someone commented in the newspaper today it does seem to be an intelligent test.

I will still be wearing masks for now. I have my own reasons. I think I will limit movements. I don't need to explain that to anyone else.
