Ditching my mask from today except for in hospital settings

Clearly this is fine legally speaking but AIBU to expect not to be asked to wear a mask from today onwards? I’ll wear one when attending hospital/doctors appointments but that’s it that’s were i draw the line. I shouldn’t be expected to explain myself right? I’ve wore a mask from the beginning and stuck to every rule. I won’t be rushing out to go to nightclubs as I didn’t do that before covid and i don’t suddenly feel the need to surround myself (closely) with lots of other people but I am looking forward to taking my daughter shopping and going to the cinema without having to wear a mask.

@Sheisfee I will start cheers, just as you and them can continue thinking about yourselves as you have been doing for over a year.

It's a bit odd that you need a legal requirement to do something and not to follow common sense. Cases are rising incredibly quickly, surely anyone with a brain would just wear a mask? It's only a bit of fabric!

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 17:48

@Frittataz
No its never been like that anywhere I've worked sadly

@unwuthering Yep just like you don't care about me, are you starting to get it now?

Mpsister · 19/07/2021 17:54

You can do what you want, but it's selfish

Lunificent · 19/07/2021 17:54

I was in a big supermarket today. Most people had masks on. Faith in humanity restored.

Thegreymethod · 19/07/2021 17:55

I went into a supermarket this morning and the lady greeting people at the door was telling people as they walked in that they didn't need to wear them anymore so not al supermarkets are enforcing it. I was surprised as I thought all supermarkets were still asking people to wear them.

No. I don't get it. Dial back the aggression, somewhat, though.

MostlyMaple · 19/07/2021 17:56

Can't believe how much anger people's choices over a mask is causing. Crazy really and quite sad.

I know. But to be fair it's been like this throughout the pandemic. I remember a thread where a poster wanted to take her old mum to the supermarket and it was like Battle Royale on her thread
Nengineer · 19/07/2021 17:59

@southeastdweller

I thoroughly enjoyed being out today with no crappy mask. Four bus journeys, two small shops and two supermarkets and - shocker of the year so hold to those pearls - nobody challenged me.
Why is it crappy? Genuine question. Do you think it's a face nappy and that Covid is a plandemic? I just don't get you and would love to know more
MrsDThomas · 19/07/2021 17:59

@MostlyMaple lets put it down to heat. Surely they cant be this bad in real life?

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 19/07/2021 18:01
@MrsTulipTattsyrup I don't give a shit about your sob story, we all have them, I won't bore you with mine, the difference is not all of us use them to manipulate other people into doing stuff they don't want to do for us. Could you be any more self obsessed? Again when you clearly don't care about other people why should we are about you? Listing your woes isn't impressing me I'm afraid.
Well, you’re a charmer, aren’t you? I hope you’re not so foul to everyone you encounter outside of your phone.

I don’t care about my own risk of infection - I have had both jabs. And at times earlier this year I wouldn’t have cared if I was dead. But I do care about the problems this thing brings at a population level, and that’s where we need to put our efforts, in order to allow a permanent return to normal life. So it requires a population level response. Personal responsibility clearly means nothing to large numbers of people in this country, so we go on seeing rises and mutations and vaccine evasions, which cost the country in lost productivity, as well as loss of lives and livelihoods. But all fine as long as you can splutter over people in a pub with impunity.

Heat? We have done 2 x 50c summers here and wore a mask and showed our apps in malls and other places and not felt like we are part of a world conspiracy for people to eat babies.

hamsterchump · 19/07/2021 18:04

@unwuthering Talking about nutting people and you claim to care about everyone's health so much it practically makes you a saint? Yeah I didn't think so. You don't care about me or countles smothers like me or anything else apart from Covid and I don't care about you or countless others like you, seems fair to me, we clear?

Nengineer · 19/07/2021 18:05

I have walked my dog in a mask at 3am when it's already 40c. None of us died from the mask but she is now refusing to go out except for a wee on the wet fake grass. It's no hardship and meanwhile, in the real world, masks are not a sign of slavery just a sign you give a shit.

Actually I genuinely think you both are that bad in real life
