To feel sad that my teenaged DD spends every evening at home with us

And that would be perfectly fine if that's what she wants but she'd quite like to have some social life!

She's 16 and utterly lovely but didn't find her tribe at high school despite putting the effort in.

Last night was such a gorgeous evening it would have been lovely for her to be out.

Anyone else have older teens who are stuck in when they'd like to be out?

I was the same at that age and sadly was desperate to have a group of friends to hang out with.

However, EVERYTHING changed at uni and now I struggle to see all the lovely friends I have enough around work!

I've also found that the kids who had a tight knit group early on at school are all still beholden to one another and didn't make many friends later on at uni/work etc and all feel obliged to stick to that group even in their late twenties, whereas I feel free to still make new friends (and can easily drop people who turn out to not be so nice - something you can't do when you're stuck in a big fixed group!)

I’ve come to the conclusion that school just doesn’t suit her and life will improve when she leaves!

School can be such a toxic environment. Let's hope she thrives in whatever path she chooses next.

Yes this is my youngest. She has a group of friends at sixth form, one boy in the group doesnt like her so she often gets excluded from the group plans. Her two local best friends now have boyfriends and like to hang out in a group of 4, have told her she basically isn't welcome unless she finds herself a boyfriend too (!). She is a sad little thing at the moment knowing that this is her summer kind of screwed up.
