'Where Are They Now' if AIBU threads?

Do you even find yourself suddenly remembering a particular scenario, and wondering where the people involved are today, if the behaviour is still carrying on, did she ever LTB, etc?

Even if the thread had a resolution to the scenario, if things ever repeated again?

The one that came into my mind vividly today was about a woman who'd gone to collect her child (believe it was a DD) and came home to find that her husband had left the key in the door on the other side meaning they couldn't get in, and despite being able to see 'D'H in the window and signalling to him, he refused to come and open the door as he was on a work call? From memory they were left waiting for about an hour and DD had to wee in the garden.

I remember feeling so outraged for her, and find myself wondering now if it was just a one off or if the bastard has continued doing shitty things to them.

Any other ones that have left an impression?

I still remember Twinkle from over a decade ago. She was apparently a student living with her baby DD and abusive partner. She would describe in horrific detail his sexual abuse of her.

It was all lies and she got money from a few posters, myself included, until she was rumbled. She joined MN again under a different name and was banned.

Changing username from “gettingBig” to “gettingStronger” would automatically set my trolldar on alert.

Same with OpheliaRose she kept changing her user name to things like “OpheliaRoseLookingGreatInHerSkinnyJeans” Etc for every new thread title there would be a different name.

And she (OpheliaRoase) always referred to her twins as “the twins,” never DD or DS,or even DS1 or DD2 depending on what sex they were, it was “one of the twins woke up in the night/one of the twins is ill,” it was odd.

Yes @weebarra me too - there was something about the way she wrote that seemed genuine. Although @AlternativePerspective is probably sensible & right ...

But if GettingBigger's threads helped someone else realise they were being controlled & coerced by their husband - just like Helen's story in The Archers - then even the fiction can help.

I keep thinking of the lady whose daughter got pregnant on purpose assuming that everyone would help her out once baby arrived. I hope the daughter got the reality check she needed.

I didn't think that was a troll, she updated on a similar thread not too long ago.

Apparently, the friend got in touch a while later & admitted her DH had been controlling (think she'd left him) & her friends were supporting her through it.

Yes,I remember this! Didn't OP have to drive there to drop off her Mum as well? I think I remember that the Mum decided to pull out too in protest, but would love to know how it all went in the end.

Anyone remember the lady who had moved into sheltered accommodation and was letting her cat use the shower as the litter tray, then had a male neighbour with physical disabilities who wanted her to help him bath. There were a lot of other strange things going on with her too.
Then there was the woman who had a long history of possibly alcohol problems, back and forth to A & E or rehab, arguing with Drs, paramedics and nurses and blaming them for her health problems. She was apparently very well educated, highly intelligent but would then start abusing MNers trying to help. No matter what was suggested there was a always a ‘Yes, but….’ Always wonder how she is.

Whatever happened to Wilf’s mum (Lotte?) Used to love hearing about Wilf’s adventures.

The thread I always think about is a lady whose friend (I think) had fallen pregnant by an American man in the military who had persuaded her to move to the States with him but it quickly became apparent that he (and his mother) only wanted her because of the baby. It was incredibly obvious - if the baby was born there it would be an American citizen and the op’s friend wouldn’t be able to take him out the country without his permission. I think he was treating her Like shit and it was horrifying as she was essentially trapped. Unfortunately she was very very naive and kept putting herself in an even more precarious position.

I think, IIRC, that the op’s friend did eventually manage to persuade her dp to let her take the baby on a holiday to England and there was a lot of advise to not go back with the baby. I lost track of the thread then, but this is the thread I think about the most - it was terrifying

The second lady still crops up regularly, nothing has changed

Another one is where the op's sil had convinced fil to sell his house, give the money to the sil to buy a bigger house and build a garden studio for him to live in..

This one was me Smile

FIL pulled out of his house sale about a week before contracts were due to be signed as he finally realised what a big, big, stupid mistake he was making. This obviously meant he didn’t end up coming to live with us which we were grateful for.

So he’s now living in a near empty house after selling all his furniture. My DH is still no longer speaking to his sibling. SIL’s pregnancy never materialised.

Not a very exciting update but that’s what ultimately happened Smile

Ive been thinking about you & your family recently, Thank you for the update. I'm glad your FiL didn't move but it's sad to think of him with such little furniture

Lobster boy. The last I heard the woman's husband was unwell, about this time last year.

Another one was a post by "milk" something or other and she was letting her friend stay in the granny annex at the bottom of her garden. The friend turned hostile towards her and she heard her talking behind her back to another friend. I hope she chucked her out.

Oh, well, I hope she's slightly more truthful these days! She must be, if she hasn't been removed! Perhaps she finally has a gorgeous and grand bedroom of her own now. smile

I’ve name changed for this.

I posted on that bedroom thread as a newish poster and it was far from funny when other posters started to hint that someone on the thread was lying about their bedroom. I thought they meant me because of the order things were posted in and I was mortified as well as upset that people could be thinking I was a liar. A short while later into the thread it was made clear who was lying and that’s the trouble with the poster concerned, she just stood back and let someone else be viewed suspiciously in order to look innocent herself. Not that the person who’d reverse imaged the photo of the hotel bedroom let it go and it then be came clear just who liar/fantasist was/is.

And she’s still at - She’s nothing more than a despicable piece of work who wouldn’t recognize honesty if it bit her in her extra long nose. She has absolutely no class whatsoever despite all her efforts to try and persuade people otherwise.

I think the friend moved out but left the place trashed.

The lady who's dh was seeing ow.

Lilly 007 . Been married a long time.
She threw him out and he took up with ow - getting engaged I think.
I often wonder how things are.
I do hope things are going well for her now.

A few years ago Ophelia Rose, whose h got jiggy in the stationery cupboard at work with a colleague and subsequently left her for OW…hope it wasn’t a troll

I think of her often. People said she was a troll but I believe everything she said. I hope she’s ok.
