...do you keep bread in the fridge?

OP posts:
trappistkepler · 10/07/2021 23:08

No I don't store bread in the fridge... but... if you store it in the fridge it prevents mould and slightly stale bread without mould makes crisp toast. So it depends on what you are after.

Scbchl · 10/07/2021 23:12

Abaolutely not

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 10/07/2021 23:14

It's fine to freeze but refrigerating makes it go stale.

LindaEllen · 10/07/2021 23:15

Yes - only because our kitchen is warm and it goes mouldy too quickly otherwise. We don't tend to use it for anything other than toast so doesn't matter if it goes a bit stale.

Chloemol · 10/07/2021 23:18

No, but I do freeze it

Bellagio40 · 10/07/2021 23:19

Of course not

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 10/07/2021 23:20

No. There's wrong, and then there's that.

DoTheNextRightThing · 10/07/2021 23:21

@TheValeyard

No, but does it matter if you do?

At this stage in the argument there is literally nothing on earth that matters more, including, but not limited to, paid employment, children's health and personal wellbeing.

Are you one of my family members? Grin

But no, no fridge bread.

Timeisavirtue · 10/07/2021 23:23

Hell no 🤮

Giraffey1 · 10/07/2021 23:26

No. Bread doesn’t not like being in the fridge. It does not need to be in the fridge.

Singinghollybob · 10/07/2021 23:27

No, we keep it in the freezer

PrettyLittleFlies · 10/07/2021 23:28

@frigglerock

Bread, no. Cookies, no. Chocolate, no.

Eggs, yes.
Ketchup, yes.

Eggs better out of the fridge
ChocolateCakeYum · 10/07/2021 23:29

No way. Fast track to stale city.

Kljnmw3459 · 10/07/2021 23:30

Yes, supermarket cheap loafs mold easily unless we keep it in the fridge. If it's a different type, more crusty bread then no.

RightYesButNo · 10/07/2021 23:32

@MagnoliaBeige

Yes, I assumed that was normal but it appears not! Chocolate and ketchup definitely don’t live in the fridge though!
I mean, it says, “For best results, refrigerate after opening” on the back of the ketchup; not much room for argument. I do understand arguments about bread and eggs, but when people argue about products that say “refrigerate after opening” right on them, I just assume I’ll be reading about their poisoned ketchup death in the Daily Mail or something, complete with photos of their family making sad faces and heartbrokenly looking out the curtains heartbrokenly staring into the fridge. Maybe have the family start practicing now, @MagnoliaBeige Grin
readytosell · 10/07/2021 23:33

No. Grim.

mathanxiety · 10/07/2021 23:33

Yes.

Like SeatoSki my US kitchen gets very hot in summer, and also humid. Bread goes mouldy very quickly if left out.

But never cookies.

Hankunamatata · 10/07/2021 23:33

Fresh no but if its very warm and been a couple of days then I move it to the fridge

mathanxiety · 10/07/2021 23:34

And we have to keep eggs in the fridge here too.

motogogo · 10/07/2021 23:40

Yes, especially in summer

AlCalavicci · 10/07/2021 23:42

perpares to run for cover

motogogo · 10/07/2021 23:43

(Cut loaves only I should add, homemade bread no because it doesn't last more than a day)

motogogo · 10/07/2021 23:45

@seepingweeping

We have an American style fridge freezer so lots of room, but then I keep my spare food at lidl these days (reformed food hoarder, I had 39 cans of chopped tomatoes when I moved, oops!)

Anyusernameleft · 10/07/2021 23:48

No.

Viviennemary · 10/07/2021 23:50

No.
