...do you keep bread in the fridge?

OP posts:
PerseverancePays · 10/07/2021 22:15

Humid countries like the US do it as normal.

Snoken · 10/07/2021 22:16

Nope, but if it’s sliced bread it always goes straight in the freezer then I toast the slices I want from frozen.

Imissmoominmama · 10/07/2021 22:16

No.

proudwomansexmatters · 10/07/2021 22:16

Humid countries like the US?

You know the US has deserts, right? And rain forests. But also deserts.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 10/07/2021 22:20

I live alone, so my bread goes in the fridge during the summer because it gets hot in my flat. In the winter it stays on the side. If I leave it out in the summer it goes mouldy quicker.

Macncheeseballs · 10/07/2021 22:21

If I have extra yes

whynotwhatknot · 10/07/2021 22:21

i do but its because i mainly have toast so it doesnt matter to me if its hard

Dirtyduck · 10/07/2021 22:22

Lisamonwesaa · 10/07/2021 22:24

cornflake12 · 10/07/2021 22:25

Yes

OldTinHat · 10/07/2021 22:25

Yes but usually in the freezer.

NettleTea · 10/07/2021 22:27

a bread bin isnt in the fridge, is it.

it goes really stale in there

inappropriateraspberry · 10/07/2021 22:27

Yes in the summer. We have a huge kitchen/diner/living room and it gets really warm!

Ilovechinese · 10/07/2021 22:28

No I keep it in the cupboard

hyperbole001 · 10/07/2021 22:28

No I don't. Mine is stored in the freezer.

VerticalHorizon · 10/07/2021 22:28

No. Bread goes stale more quickly at colder temperatures due to the starch crystallising (retrogradation).

BettyOBarley · 10/07/2021 22:29

No! Never heard of / seen anyone doing that.

inappropriateraspberry · 10/07/2021 22:30

Meant to add, it's warm and we find the bread goes mouldy fairly fast if not in the fridge.

PattyPan · 10/07/2021 22:31

Depends - keeping it in the fridge makes it stale faster but it stops it going mouldy as fast. I used to sometimes keep it in the fridge as a student because I didn’t get through it quick enough on my own, only used it for toast anyway and I didn’t have a freezer.

Postdatedpandemic · 10/07/2021 22:31

Are we talking chorleywood bread or sour dough?

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/07/2021 22:31

No

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 10/07/2021 22:31

No. But I often keep a loaf in the freezer, and toast from frozen.
