Where will you be watching the final tomorrow?

I know not everyone will be watching but just interested to see the consensus.

I.e. at home, at a friends house or party, a fan zone, a pub, Wembley etc.

I'll either be at home or just going to a friends. There'd probably be a lot more in pubs if not for the restrictions. Having to book etc will put people off (and it being a Sunday night).

@Midnightballerina - hope you have an absolute blast, and that your regulars make it a top night for you!

Basket meals sound like a great idea.

I think, whatever the outcome, you’ll all have a great night - enjoy.

PhilSwagielka · 11/07/2021 03:37

I made fish cakes the other day so will be eating those.

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/07/2021 06:52

Just me and Midnight working then tonight.

As I mentioned previously up thread for true world class football fans - Argentina beat Brazil at the Maracanã to win the CONMEBOL Copa America 2021. In a hugely anticipated final between two of the world’s great footballing nations, Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 at the Estadio Maracaná arguably Mecca home of football to become champions of the CONMEBOL Copa América after 28 years without an international title.

Already feeling goosebumps about the National Anthems & the whole Wembley crowd.

@petridishmystery

At home with DM. No lockdown here so could go to a pub without having to worry about booking but not my idea of a good time at all! We are Channel Islands so not English but most people support England. I actually usually support France but obvs that’s not an option so I’m going for England rather than Italy, hard not to get caught up in all the excitement of it tbh. It’s coming home…just not my home Grin
Random side q, do you have your own National side? That goes to the qualifying tournaments?
TheGoogleMum · 11/07/2021 07:50

We might put it on in the background. We're not bothered about football

PhilSwagielka · 11/07/2021 07:53

I think Channel Islanders can choose to play for England or France but the two most notable footballers from there, Matt Le Tissier and Graeme Le Saux, both chose England.

Lucyccfc68 · 11/07/2021 07:56

I’ll be with my DS, watching it at Wembley. Tickets in block 508.

So excited, I have been awake since 5am.

Just for the record, my friends and I, who follow England everywhere, are neither racist nor xenophobic. We don’t boo national anthems, nor taking the knee. We will not all be pissed and throwing beer around. If you have never actual been to an England match, then stop believing every bit of crap you read online and from our gutter press.

Frazzled2207 · 11/07/2021 08:15

@Lucyccfc68
Oh jealous! I hope you enjoy it.
I don’t think for a second that all fans are racist or xenophobic but am dismayed at those that do boo/make guests feels uncomfortable etc. Story yesterday about danish families being made to feel very uncomfortable the other night.

3Britnee · 11/07/2021 08:16

In the pub. And I might have fish and chips in there too.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 11/07/2021 08:33

@ Lucyccfc68

Enjoy the game as good to hear that most fans are true fans of the game and not your all too common garden variant of uncivilised yob who behave like cave men when drunk attacking others even after winning the match. It is a shame that these idiots wrapped up in the Union flag cause such unnecessary commotion over a sporting fixture. I hope the best team win and win fairly without any fakery or laser beams as cheating the referee is such a bad part of this sport which needs to be stamped out to give football a clean start away from the dirty game. Football is sport and should play not part in woke politics with any performative gestures nor disrespecting the opponents national anthem etc. Win or lose this is a good achievement by England. However England can win and can go on to reach other finals. I hope England win to lift the country and also to prevent any civil disturbance from the unfortunate yobs as if the sky had fallen because of a game of football. It’s just football not life. Come on England!

towers14 · 11/07/2021 08:54

In the pub, dh & I with friends, dd on a table with her friends, ds working in same pub. Major sulks and strops from ds about having to work- feel a bit sorry for him but hey ho. Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The story about the Danish family was appalling. No one should be made to feel threatened at a football match.

Over the last 30 years, at away games, I have been chased, threatened, had a knife pulled on me, tear gassed and had a gun pointed in my face by the local police. No one hears these stories in our press, as the narrative is always how badly behaved England fans are and what saints everyone else’s fans are.

Rarely does the charity work that England fans do make the press either.

I went to Euro 2004 in Portugal (and it was my honeymoon) and there was loads of good work going on between England fans and fan groups in Portugal, but the press were not really that interested. They were happy to report a bit of a scrap on the strip in Albufeira the night before the game though. Nothing to do with England, as the game was in Lisbon.

I have pretty much given up worrying about what the general public think of us, as we have put up with this narrative by the press that we are all scum and unfortunately people believe what they read in the press and online.

Anyway, off from my soap box - can’t wait for tonight, it’s going to be amazing.

SecretSpAD · 11/07/2021 09:45

Whilst I understand that a small number of our football fans are complete bellends and are frankly a national embarrassment. But most of this country is comprised of civilised human beings who are very excited to see our National team in with a chance of winning something big. And then there is the team who (my daughter informs me) a bunch of lovely young men who have worked hard for this game and the potential win.

We've had a rough year in this country. We need this tonight - and I say that as someone who never really watches football matches and definitely prefer rugby. So hope that everyone has a fantastic time whatever they are doing - including those who feel they are more superior for denying their nationality or pretending they have no idea what's happening.

Oh that’s interesting, if that’s correct, I didn’t know they could choose between England and France. Actually never really thought about it! We are British rather than French so makes sense they’d pick England - I just like France so usually support them. I’ve never met Matt but I did go to primary school with his nephew.

@Frazzled2207 we can’t have our own teams in things like this or Olympics etc but we do take part in the Island Games and Commonwealth Games.

AuntieMarys · 11/07/2021 11:18

Home. It will be on but I will be reading a book as I have no interest in the game. However I hope they win .
Saw the semi in a pub and I was appalled by the behaviour of some of the clientele. It was like being back in the 70s.

snoin · 11/07/2021 11:41

@SecretSpAD

Yes, I think Italy have also had a bit of a tough year. Maybe it has something to do with that global pandemic that's currently impacting the whole world.

Why do you live in the uk if you hate it so much?

Do people think it makes them morally superior or something to despise the country they live in so much? To never take any pride in it or celebrate it's achievements?

FYI, It doesn't make you a racist to celebrate England.

3Britnee · 11/07/2021 11:54

And to the people that do it, that always have to put the uk down and at the bottom of the pile, you're boring to listen to. Go and live elsewhere 🤷‍♀️

LifeinPieces21 · 11/07/2021 11:56

I don't think Snoin lives in England.

They really do hate England, so many angry posts.

ThursdayWeld · 11/07/2021 12:08

snoin hates England, and lives on the Continent. Thank goodness! Grin

skippy67 · 11/07/2021 12:15

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop

Why are people commenting "we won't be watching it"?

What's the point of your posts? It's not what was asked.

Because they need people to know how uninterested they are.
ThursdayWeld · 11/07/2021 12:16

I must rush on to a thread about dogs and announce that I don't have a dog Grin
