I know not everyone will be watching but just interested to see the consensus.

I.e. at home, at a friends house or party, a fan zone, a pub, Wembley etc.

I'll either be at home or just going to a friends. There'd probably be a lot more in pubs if not for the restrictions. Having to book etc will put people off (and it being a Sunday night).

Husband and I are watching from Texas.

Justanotherlurker · 10/07/2021 22:40

I'm pretty sure England doesn't like you either. Bitterness is such an ugly trait.

The ironic thing is that those people are openly supporting a nation who has an out and out racist/nationalistic fan base that would make MN crumble if they did have any real understanding of the sport dynamics, they wouldn' be repeating twitter hot takes and understand the irnony in calling out 'flag shagers' whilst also having multiple flags on thier twitter profile.

Its nothing more than people repeating twitter hot takes

@Grilledaubergines

Oh and I don’t like parsnips but I don’t go in the supermarket and throw them around. I just let them sit there in their parsnipy glory, living their life whilst I live nine. Be more parsnip, dear.
Love this. I'm not English but I live here and am channelling my inner parsnip and I hope they win because it would make many people I care about very happy.
Palilula · 10/07/2021 23:09

Beograd. Probably one of the outdoor places on Trg Republike.

Serbia was disqualified a long time ago for Euro2020, so we're all (mostly) neutral. There will be loads of fans of both England and Italy in Beograd, because we are quite open to tourism at the moment (at least by current European standards). I think/hope that (most) people can keep it civil.

Let's watch some amazing football on Sunday, and let's love the beautiful game - and let the best team win!

PhilSwagielka · 10/07/2021 23:10

Home, possibly via an Italian stream to see what it'll be like from their POV.

Furries · 10/07/2021 23:13

Just to add that “Be more parsnip” is probably the best comment I’ve seen in quite some time.

Sage advice, I will definitely use it at some point in the future

I read elsewhere that our fans are the most hated in Europe and while that may be the case, Italian fans aren't exactly friendly either. Lazio, for instance. The abuse Moise Kean got from fans in the Serie A was horrific and he's not the only black player who's suffered from it. And then there's out-and-out fascists like Paolo di Canio. There are left-wing ultras, which is some consolation.

Scottish and Welsh users supporting Italy is understandable though. Scots support whoever England plays. It's tradition.

[quote ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia]This is an exciting sporting finals weekend Wimbledon, Coppa America 2021 Brazil versus Argentina and Euro 2020 finals in Wembley.

My prediction is England and Brazil winning on home ground. Come on England!

However if penalties in Wembley - we can assume if no lasers are involved - Italians may find the goal more confidently as it maybe coming Rome with Covid coming home.

More excited about the global South American superclasico to decide the 2021 champion - Brazil versus Argentina! Arguably probably the two best national teams of the world. Not sure about Covid as I am assuming the locals believe more in football than science perhaps because Jair Bolsonaro is one of the exceptional popularist political leaders to make Alexander Johnson look less reckless.

Brazil and Argentina will meet for the 34th time at the Copa America. Brazil won 10 games, Argentina won 15 and the rest of the games finished level. This is the eigth time they have played in Brazil and the hosts have never lost.

Stadium: Maracaná (Río de Janeiro) arguably the Mecca and global home of football
Date: Saturday 10 July 2021
Time: 21:00 Rio de Janeiro (00:00 GMT Saturday)

I've been vaguely following the Copa America because Richarlison's playing in it and I love him. Hoping Brazil win.

@Justanotherlurker I can assure you I am not in an all-inclusive resort. I actually live here and am in my house. I certainly do not read any English tabloids.

HomerSimpsonsDonut · 10/07/2021 23:20

Will deffo be watching it!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 10/07/2021 23:23

@HelloMissus

I’m going to Wembley. Yay!!!

Excellent!

BeepBoopBop · 10/07/2021 23:34

In our big sitting room in SW France, with two of our English friends and three dogs. Hotdogs for halftime.

parttimedrifter · 10/07/2021 23:37

In our home. Possibly in our garden with the neighbours

Do you have a link / pics?
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 10/07/2021 23:41

At home with the kids Grin

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 10/07/2021 23:42

Why are people commenting "we won't be watching it"?

What's the point of your posts? It's not what was asked.

petridishmystery · 10/07/2021 23:59

At home with DM. No lockdown here so could go to a pub without having to worry about booking but not my idea of a good time at all! We are Channel Islands so not English but most people support England. I actually usually support France but obvs that’s not an option so I’m going for England rather than Italy, hard not to get caught up in all the excitement of it tbh. It’s coming home…just not my home Grin

FakeColinCaterpillar · 11/07/2021 00:27

Nope. Im sad it’s a Sunday as otherwise I would totally go do the weekly food shop whilst it was on.

Midnightballerina · 11/07/2021 00:32

I will be working & watching (pub landlady). We are fully booked with lots of regulars. I can't wait.

Frownette · 11/07/2021 00:33

At a relative's. I was chatting to someone I know earlier and he said he wasn't sure he could watch it, he's 20 and still lives at home, and hadn't been able to get hold of his friends to see if he can watch it at theirs.

I nearly said come and watch it with us but checked myself as it probably wouldn't be that much fun for him with two older females!

JanuaryJonez · 11/07/2021 01:15

My parents live next door so I'm cooking a big goulash (Hungarian dad) which me, DH, DD & DS & parents can eat, then I'll watch it at my parents, but DH & DS will watch it at ours as we have a bigger screen.

Furries · 11/07/2021 01:23

Blimey, bet you’re going to feel knackered when you lock up at the end of the night. Am sure it’s going to be a great atmosphere - though hope not too many punters chuck beer everywhere!

Not sure with COVID rules now - are you allowed to do “sharing” snacks? I remember when I was younger, one of my favourite things about going to the pub with my parents for a big sports event was the trays of sausage rolls and roast potatoes that used to be laid out for everyone 😋

lolacola77 · 11/07/2021 01:46

On my sofa all day watching the tennis then football. Wine, snacks and no-one to bother me. Bliss!

Midnightballerina · 11/07/2021 02:04

@Furries No sharing snacks any more sadly. We always used to have strong cheese & pickled onions in the bar. We've gone to pre ordered basket meals this time. The clean up will be massive but I will be on a high so I will wind down with wine & a podcast whilst we clean up. All drinks will be served in plastic so no glasses to wash at least. I can't wait. After the last year it is so good to have a happy busy pub.
