I think Boris handed out the England shirts so everyone thinks the Tories are down with the kids.
Priti Patel's son is aged about 12 or 13 - she is 'down with the kids.' More likely she bought her son an England shirt and borrowed it for the photo.

@ Clavinova People don't suddenly change core beliefs like the death penalty, anymore than they suddenly change from being in Momentum to joining the tory party.
That statement doesn't bode well for challenging anti-semitism in the Labour Party.
Personally I think attitudes to capital punishment can easily be swayed by topical events such as major terrorist attacks and child murders - with miscarriages of justice swaying public opinion the other way. Priti Patel's original comments were made in 2011 so not necessarily a 'sudden change' in belief for her - although, as International Development Secretary, suddenly being presented with government briefs and committees detailing the realities of capital punishment in other countries could well be responsible for her change of opinion.
TBH if you want to be be successful in politics be a tory, members of other parties are far more likely to be genuine as they have chosen a far harder path to political power.
I think most people were confused by Labour's stance on Brexit - even now - nothing 'genuine' about it.
