She is an absolutely vile human being. Vile. I have never hated a politician this much.

@PicsInRed - I really disliked TM as Home Sec as well, BUT there are two things that set her apart from PP and the general current shower of shit that is the current government.

1. She had some decent policies alongside the horrible ones, for example she was passionate about increasing protections around domestic violence and did some good work in that space: I can’t think of one policy of PP that isn’t just driven by hate and the desire to divide.

1. She had genuine principles that under pinned her policies. I didn’t like many of them but she was consistent and had integrity in her approach. PP is just driven by what she thinks will win her votes. Hence slagging off the England team and saying it’s fine to boo them to keep the racists happy, and then in the next breath jumping on the bandwagon about how great they all are. A small example of the fact that she has no integrity whatsoever.

In 2015 I would have cried at the idea of TM as PM. By the time of the leadership campaign I thought she was the best available, because the others running were so terribly atrocious.

PP is a liar, a cheat, a bully and a racist. TM is generally none of those things (although that crap about the cat and a right to family life wasn’t great), and is 100 times the politician PP will ever be. And I don’t much like TM.

Is she being a hypocrite? Absolutely.

But she's no worse than the tabloids or a decent section of the English fanbase in that respect.

It's quite amazing, given the stiff competition, but she might actually be the worst member of the cabinet.

Sorry, should clarify, some people think she is criticised because she is a BAME woman in a position of power. Yes, we most definitely need more of these, it's just unfortunate that Priti Patel is the most prominent example when there must be so many more competent candidates out there.

I am afraid I cannot agree. PP is absolutely in the same mould of a long line of thoroughly unpleasant Home Secretaries. TM created the hostile environment that led to Windrush. She used her advisors to bully others. She was every bit as much a moral vacuum and until BJ was the worst PM we had seen.

This is what passed under PP's Home Office:

It made post separation coercive control and strangulation/suffocation illegal, along with defining domestic abuse, enabling children to be named as DV victims and effectively ended the rough sex defence. It was far from perfect, but the day it passed was a vast improvement on the day before.

I don't think PP is lovely by any means, but she's no more egregious than any of them and I note that where TM received mockery and derision (a la Boris and Mogg), Patel has had so much rage directed her way that there's no accounting for it on paper.
