There should be no England fans at final IMO

I cannot believe there is not more disgust at the actions of one (or more) English fan(s).

Aside from trying to cheat way to an England victory by distracting the goalkeeper during a penalty, lasers are phenomenally dangerous to eyes. The goalkeeper could have retinal damage.

I think a “lesser” nation would have been kicked out, but England won’t. But in my view the fans should be banned - there has to be consequences for criminal actions. Otherwise it will happen again.

Suspect I’ll be in the minority but it’s frankly embarrassing we have fans who do this.

They do say that as a social experiment, if you put a large group of previously unconnected children in an institution and divided them into reds and blues, it would eventually result in some sort of Red v. Blue playground warfare. It's part of the human condition. And the whole concept of school houses is supposed to foster competition but also loyalty to your clan and the desire to do well to represent it, by beating people in the other houses, whether that is in sport, academia or any other worthy endeavour.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 09/07/2021 09:09

@megletthesecond

I was half expecting us to be kicked out over the laser thing and the booing. We are mostly idiots.
Who's 'we'?

Speak for yourself. We are mostly supportive fans let down by a few.

Totally agree with a PP, these bitter anti-England posters would go into a rage if their child was subject to a whole class punishment at school

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 09/07/2021 09:11

@Ratalie

I was particularly appalled at the way various English players were violently kicking the ball. I'm sure we're all aware that footballs used to be made from pigs' bladders, so I can only assume it was a metaphorical endorsement of animal abuse. Disgusting.

If another team had players who kicked the ball, you can guarantee they'd all be put to death.

😂😂😂😂😂
Rubyrecka · 09/07/2021 09:12

England fans are gross. Always have bad coverage at these events. Booing during the oppositions anthem, setting fireworks off. The laser in the goalies eyes thing crossed a boundary.

They should all be banned for the next game or SOME repercussion take place for them all.

They're unsportsmanlike and it's time for consequences.

igelkott2021 · 09/07/2021 09:13

Unless and until they find who had the laser pen there is no justification for any action against the England team whatsoever.

Also, you punish the perpetrator, not everyone around them. We are not in a classroom and punishing the whole class is a very lazy form of discipline anyway and should not be used, and certainly not in an adult context.

Schmeichel actually said nothing about the incident, so I am assuming he didn't notice. It certainly didn't appear to affect him as he saved the penalty. That doesn't mean the perpetrator shouldn't "enjoy" a jail sentence though.

It's funny that when other fans do aggressive and rude things, you don't get these calls to ban their team. Why is it only England?

I am reliably informed that other teams' fans boo the other side's national anthem too - eg Denmark did it to Wales. It is not exclusive to England fans.

And I am sure both fireworks and laser pens have been used by other fans too. It does make you wonder how someone got into the stadium with one though, Wembley clearly needs to step up its security, otherwise someone is going to get in there with a bomb or gun.

igelkott2021 · 09/07/2021 09:16

(I don't deny that some England fans are gross though. Do they really have to show their disgusting beer bellies off. I'd throw them out of the stadium for that alone. Yuck.)

Livpool · 09/07/2021 09:17

UEFA need to spend more time dealing with racism - so many clubs (especially in Champions League and the Europa Cup) get away with appalling behaviour and have no sanctions.

Calm down OP

@igelkott2021 I mean when you have to step up resources to stop fans entering with laser pens and god knows what else it really does say something doesn't it.

Their behaviour is unjustified, same as any other team! Including the beer bellies.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 09/07/2021 09:22

@toocold54

Honestly I am shocked that they haven’t removed the last goal and put the score to 1-1 or said to have a re-match. The laser was a strong laser that must have been off putting and I feel like it’s bittersweet because would we actually have won the game if that didn’t happen!? I feel like this will go down in history as the time England cheated to win and it’s such a shame as they have played amazingly!
  1. It wasn't a player who shone the laser
  1. The penalty was saved.

Totally. While I completely agree some of the behaviour from many of the fans has been pretty appalling - several countries not just England - UEFA needs to get its act together with not brushing vile racist abuse under the carpet by excusing it as 'cultural differences'

Yes, fine the FA's of countries for fan behaviour but lets look at the bigger issues where England are probably the most racially abused national team and yet very little is said about that or done by UEFA

If every country who had a few fans behave like twats had to play behind closed doors, there would never be anyone in stadiums again

remy3 · 09/07/2021 09:23

Yes, because in OPs football-nirvana-land (aka Scotland), none of the (male) football supporters ever show their beer-bellies. Nooo! Scottish men drinking Shock - heaven forbid. And they never shout, boo or are offensive in any shape or form. They sit there in suits, sipping G&T.

Look OP, I’m not even English, but if you really think your Scottish football yobs are discernible from the English ones, I can assure you, they are most certainly not. Take away the flags and whatever, nobody could tell the difference. The same goes for most yobs, frankly.

So why weren't the Danish fined for booing the Welsh national anthem? Just the English then? I see, hypocrisy at it's finest.
Teddy1970 · 09/07/2021 09:25

Oh and the Danes let off smoke bombs at the match but hey, don't let facts get in the way..

Rubyrecka · 09/07/2021 09:27

@Teddy1970 🙄 not really. If they booed the Welsh they should also be fined. Don't be such a sensitive Sally. I would have the same opinion of any fans that behaved in this way. Just appears England football fans are constantly at the forefront of it.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 09/07/2021 09:30

OP is from a country where so few international matches are played it's hard to find a record of games let alone fan behaviour Wink

Yes the Danes SHOULD have been fined but they weren't, that's the whole point, Jesus Christ...

Rubyrecka · 09/07/2021 09:31

Probably because if you live in England, English games are more well covered by the English press.

Do you think Ukraine should be banned for the racist abuse Sterling received? Or Denmark for booing the Welsh for most of the first half? Or Hungary for shouting 'f**got' at a gay player?

Sensitive Sally's indeed. No matches would happen if all these crying babies' hurt feelings would be pandered to. But any meaningful abuse like racism and homophobia and the Sally's are soon silent on it. Says it all really

It might appear that way, but it doesn't mean it's the case.

If watch the Napoli-Palermo game you'll see dozens of laser pens on the goalkeepers when there is a corner or free kick.

If you watch just about any game anywhere ever you'll hear fans jeering their opponents, booing them when they have the ball and often trying to intimidate them through organised chanting.

Not to mention the countless occasions of racial abuse in eastern Europe, the monkey chants Spanish fans dished out a few years back, or the Russian team that only hires white players because that's the way the fans like it.

There's scum in football all over the world.

I just loathe hypocrisy and injustice, don't get me wrong English fans can be a nightmare but when you see other nations fans doing the same thing with little or no consequences it really gets on my tits..

Maybe it's Vatican City. OP, are you the Pope?
GoingHoarse · 09/07/2021 09:45

You don't know anything about football do you? Just jumping on the bandwagon.

DoormatBob · 09/07/2021 09:47

YABU because I'm sure England get punished worse than pretty much every other nation. Certainly more than the "lesser nations" whatever that means.
