DH is an extremely well educated man.
Today I watched him put ironing water (our tap water is ridiculously hard) into the fabric softener dispenser.
He loathes the dishwasher for some reason maybe that’s the reason he has been known to put the pod things for dishes in the washing machine.

I once caught an ex vacuuming the dining table, leaving scratches on what was an immaculate surface.
Our sons however, both know where the fabric softener goes. Even if they do use more than I would.

What BIWI said.

Another white vinegar user here. Lol at the water though! Mind you it's a while since I've ironed anything, so he could have been doing all sorts with it and I wouldn't know.

caughtinanet · 08/07/2021 17:13

@RaindropsOnRosie

DH uses a capful of white vinegar instead of zoflora in our washing. He also regularly runs the dishwasher without a pod.
I don't understand this unless you're saying he does the right thing.

It's not normal to put zoflora in your washing, white vinegar on the other hand is quite routine

Isn't that recommended, though?

Why would you put disinfectant in your washing machine Confused

Bargebill19 · 08/07/2021 17:15

So I was right - personal preferences.
I find fabric softener makes things feel as if they are coated in plastic.

Question - do clothes not smell vinegary? I ask as fabric softener which is scented does make your clothes smell - so why doesn’t vinegar make you smell??

Seesawmummadaw · 08/07/2021 17:15

Bless his educated little arse.

Cowbells · 08/07/2021 17:17

Why does washing need disinfectant?
I'm guessing you don't have teenage sons who disappear to sports camps for weeks at a time. Or turn up after a whole term at uni and say 'I found the spare duvet set when I was packing up to come home.' Hmm

M0nkeybars · 08/07/2021 17:19

I can't comment on this one as I am USELESS at housework and husband is forever telling me off for stuff lol

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 08/07/2021 17:20

Missing the point - as I and my family all have eczema I would never use fabric softener or bio washing liquid. It's extremely bad for the skin.

Biological detergents are no worse for your skin than any other kind.

@Newbie8365 it could be worse: I caught my husband cleaning the kids with the bath sponge. 🤮

Weren't they in the bath at the time then?

Gingenius · 08/07/2021 17:31

@CustardySergeant I never thought of it like tht: they were in the bath- maybe he is just the master of multi tasking and after giving their faces a scrub he was going to get the Mr Muscle out….

starfishmummy · 08/07/2021 17:32

Wtf is ironing water? My iron was chosen as it takes tap water.

LindaEllen · 08/07/2021 17:34

@TheLovelinessOfDemons

DH once cleaned DS2's bum with scented hand and face wipes. His bum was so red! I'm pretty sure DH thought all wipes were the same.
My DP has been caught using my relatively expensive makeup remover wipes to wipe his arse. Not happy.

The beginning of the end between my parents was when he 'helped' by cleaning the new kitchen after dinner, and scoured the brand new silver hob.

Caught my DH polishing the dining table with a spray can of Raid ant killer.

But Raid is nothing like furniture polish and absolutely stinks?

My mum changed my son yrs ago while I was having a nap. She used flash bathroom cleaning wipes!. I haven't seen his bum in a long time but I presume no lasting damage.

Braver than me - I didn’t care go that far. But then I use the iron as a door stop.
EscapeTheCastle · 08/07/2021 17:50

WorraLiberty The smell of the Raid alerted me to the problem! I rushed into the room and he was all "I didn't know!"

Sorry, you've lost me. He was cleaning the kids in the bath with a bath sponge and you find that so disgusting that you posted the vomiting emoji. What on earth is wrong with using a bath sponge in a bath?

Ironmanrocks · 08/07/2021 17:53

More to the point people - WHY ARE YOU IRONING???!!!

AleynEivlys · 08/07/2021 17:53

What is this iron you speak of?

I know! Even if you're in a hard water area and worried about limescale in the iron, just use boiled.
