To be enjoying the Euros, to enjoy international football, and to be happy that England are in the final?

According to other threads on MN I should be hanging my boring head in shame and hating the football.

But, I love it! I love an international football tournament, and I'm loving this one! I proudly support our national team, I think they've shown great character, skill and hard work, and - OMG - I also like the Three Lions song!

I feel bad for other teams who have worked hard and lost, but them's the breaks. It doesn't stop me being excited for the final!!

Bloody loving it here.
And I guarantee my life is way more interesting and cultured than the middle class twats trying to denigrate fans.

Keepemguessing · 08/07/2021 15:12

C'mon England!

ButYouJustPointedToAIIOfMe · 08/07/2021 15:15

I think the laser incident is a real bloody shame. And the booing. Otherwise as you were.

The laser incident is appalling but it was one fan. The booing is unsavoury and I despise it but any football fan will tell you this isn’t something that only England ever do.

The vast majority of the tens of millions of people enjoying this have nothing to do with either of those two things and shouldn’t let them affect their enjoyment.

PixieKitten · 08/07/2021 15:23

Getting to the final is a great achievement for the England team but what annoys me is the horrible ppl that have to mar this

For some reason there always seems to be a yob element not far away. Shining a laser pen in the Denmark goalkeeper's eyes, ripping up bollards and throwing them into the middle of the road, knocking a woman's drink over then telling her she'll get raped

I hate to think what will happen if they lose the final

JacquelineCarlyle · 08/07/2021 15:28

YANBU Op - I love it too!

ThursdayWeld · 08/07/2021 19:32

Yay to the YANBUs!! Grin Flowers

I have now hidden the miseryguts anti-football/Euros threads, so it's all happy stuff now Smile

(And I totally hope that the fuckwit who shone the laser at Schmeichel is caught and prosecuted! Angry )

OP - You need to read the latest pearl clutches wanting England thrown out the tournement and the fans all banned for life

There really are people in this country who actually;ly hate any success and would be much happier if we lived our entire lives in perpetual misery

slashlover · 08/07/2021 22:50

68% of the thread you mentioned said that the OP WBU. Like what you like, enjoy what you enjoy.

Although, do we really need 353435 threads about the football?

Indeed I hope England do win on Sunday and the moaning misreable whingers spontaneously combust in a fit of apoplectic rage 🤣
CandyLeBonBon · 09/07/2021 07:29

YANBU OP. I only like international tournaments because they are wayyy more fun. Can't be arsed with the everyday club matches and the premier league etc. Because the team I support is a bit rubbish and I have the attention span of a gnat.

Zero fucks given as to what people think of me for that. Because IT'S COMING HOME!!!

CandyLeBonBon · 09/07/2021 07:31

But the booing and laser pointing is shit and the wankers who do it should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

toconclude · 09/07/2021 08:41

@Orf1abc

Who has told you to hang your head in shame? Most comments I've seen have been positive.
There's been one thread where the op who doesn't enjoy football was promptly verbally eviscerated. No-one afaics has said that fans should be ashamed (except the ones acting like dickheads). This is just an ego stroking plea. You do you, OP, and we the non fans will also do us. Happy?
Chemenger · 09/07/2021 08:51

I despise football but I really haven’t seen that opinion much. I’m not sure where the OP is seeing all this negativity. I’m quite happy to just ignore football and get on with my life, while being pleased for those who do care that it’s going well for them.

x2boys · 09/07/2021 08:58

There have been several threads where the Op, s don't like football and if England do win on Sunday there will be many more

Yanbu to watch any sport that you enjoy.

I think what people are annoyed about though is their childrens activities cancelled but sport still being on. For instance I couldn't go and watch my childs sports day and her school trip was cancelled and my youngest transition day and pre parents evening stuff was cancelled. I understand the football is important to other people, but my kids having a normal school experience is important to me, so it does piss me off that there are different covid and social distancing rules for each.

I totally agree with that. it seems like rules don't count when there's big corporate money involved

My mate is an events promotor and he's tried for months to get a music even put together for 200 people in the grounds of a Manor House, sat in socially distanced bubbles at tables.

The police and council constantly say dancing and music above background level is not covid safe and the event can only go ahead if everyone stays seated (outdoors) for 6 hours

Yet 60000 can attend football matches, jump up and down at football hubs and cram into Wembley Way with their arms round each other

Big sporting money talks

sleepygnome · 09/07/2021 09:37

MN is mostly middle class Londoners who can't bare to see the working classes have any fun or be happy.

This basically sums it up 🤣
OfTheNight · 09/07/2021 10:02

I’m a football fan and I’m over the moon!!! Aside from that I love happiness, I love seeing other people happy and celebrating. I know what a boost this is for our country and the knock on effect this will have. Not just for football.

I think it’s great to see smilies and enthusiasm and a bit of hope. I know some people aren’t keen on it, but I really don’t get the attitude of some people on here.

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/07/2021 10:03

Doesn’t do it for me but happy that you’re happy Smile

HelloMissus · 09/07/2021 10:04

And I guarantee it's not. Oh, wait, neither of us can actually do that because it's stupid.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 09/07/2021 10:10

@Ostryga

MN is not representative of the real world.

People like to martyr themselves on here and then make everyone feel stupid and inferior when they don’t agree!

YANBU I can’t wait for Sunday!

Score.

I am nlt even into foorball bit the buzz everywhere is really nice! Reminds me of 2019. The good mood is infectious

SchrodingersImmigrant · 09/07/2021 10:11

That said I am still in a hump over the quarantine exceptions when our trips had to be cancelled. But eh. Getting over it. As I said. The mood is infectious
