To be enjoying the Euros, to enjoy international football, and to be happy that England are in the final?

According to other threads on MN I should be hanging my boring head in shame and hating the football.

But, I love it! I love an international football tournament, and I'm loving this one! I proudly support our national team, I think they've shown great character, skill and hard work, and - OMG - I also like the Three Lions song!

I feel bad for other teams who have worked hard and lost, but them's the breaks. It doesn't stop me being excited for the final!!

I’d be excited if I was allowed to go out to work and support my families who must be watching the scenes from Wembley and wondering why on Earth football is more important than their child! I don’t care that it’s going ahead, I don’t care about the crowds, I just want to be afforded the same rules and to stop having to let my families down day on, day out.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 08/07/2021 13:49

Oh I hate all those threads. Football isnt my fave sport and I havent watched a game, but im happy that England have done so well and that everyone is so happy after such a rubbish 15months. Just because you dont like football it doesnt mean you cant see the positives. Theres just no need for 'I hAtE fOoTbAlL' threads.

ThursdayWeld · 08/07/2021 13:50

Oh, and apparently we're only allowed to enjoy a football tournament if we always follow football, otherwise it's just "stupid football" Hmm

Who has told you to hang your head in shame? Most comments I've seen have been positive.

Nitgel · 08/07/2021 13:52

Mn is always predictable I ignore those threads. Have they mentioned how much better rugby is yet. Grin

This was a good one:

I actually feel sorry for the sheeple who are using it to bring excitement to their otherwise quite boring lives

So that's us told Hmm

MN is not representative of the real world.

People like to martyr themselves on here and then make everyone feel stupid and inferior when they don’t agree!

YANBU I can’t wait for Sunday!

Cazzovuoi · 08/07/2021 14:00

Forza Azzuri Grin

YANBU to love it but also YABU for loving it because it’s boring.

LemonFantaGin · 08/07/2021 14:02

I only watch football/england tournaments and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the boys this year, what a team they are, a joy to watch and I agree, Im glad they are in the final, win or lose, they've bloody deserved to be where they are!

Whanganui · 08/07/2021 14:14

I’m one of those dreadful sheep🙄le who dares to only ever watch the big games. This has really lifted my spirits & brightened up my dull & boring little life 💃🏿 Sheeple will remember this for years to come, whilst the rest of the people continue to moan about us having the time of our lives. 🎶It’s coming home🎶 🎶Sweet Caroline DDD🎶

newnortherner111 · 08/07/2021 14:39

Enjoying the tournament, not the fans, nor those trying to jump on the band wagon.

ElizabethTudor · 08/07/2021 14:42

YAMDBU
I’ve really enjoyed watching Euros.
It’s been a great tournament and England have improved with each game. I’m delighted they have finally reached a final. 🦁🦁🦁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I love the fact that after a really shit 18 months its given us something to cheer about

Regardless of whether you're a football fan or not, the joy this is bringing to people who have lived through one of the hardest years of their lives is priceless

And for me personally seeing my 16 year old laughing cheering and being enthusiastic again after a year in and out of lockdown where he's lost a lot of motivation and become more withdrawn is the jewel in my crown right now

if people don't like it, well most have got about a gazillion other channels and streaming services to watch instead

username18702 · 08/07/2021 14:46

I watch all the international rugby and football games and have done since the 70s. I'm loving this Euros as I remember the crashing disappointment of '96 and every single soul crushing time England got trounced, including against Iceland.

It's really lovely to be winning at football, it's been a long time coming. I'm delighted and really looking forward to Sunday.

SlipperyDippery · 08/07/2021 14:46

I am football mad and totally beside myself about us reaching the final. I’ve been so pissed off by all the miserable arses trying to piss all over something which is making millions happy. I’m also thrilled to see so many people enjoying something which is my passion, even if it’s something they don’t always watch.

YANBU at all!

10000000% this. IT'S COMING HOME! Grin
Genderwitched · 08/07/2021 14:52

YANBU I only watch the big games and I'm loving it.

Moaning and criticising should be our national sport, we would win everything!!

Genderwitched · 08/07/2021 14:54

I still remember being eight and watching the World Cup final. I want my kids to have a memory like that.

x2boys · 08/07/2021 14:56

I agree I'm not even really a football fan, I couldn't tell you who half the team are or who they play for, but I do love a tournament, and I'm delighted England are doing so well, mumsnet is so typical whilst the rest of the country are delighted, there is thread after miserable thread of posters falling over themselves to say how much they hate football.

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 08/07/2021 14:57

Crack on. The moment anyone uses the term 'sheeple' they've wrecked the credibility of whatever they have to say.

singingsoprano · 08/07/2021 15:01

I love football and have supported my team since the age of 5. I have also been a season-ticket holder for a number of years, so proudly display my 'sheeple' and 'working class' values happily. Smile

oblada · 08/07/2021 15:02

In the thread you mentioned the comments went in support of football fans and the like so you're not a minority.
I just think - good for you.i don't give a toss but i am a bit worried about the reckless behaviour from people as a result of it. I don't want it to stop us going abroad in a couple of weeks or bring back tougher restrictions.

anon12345678901 · 08/07/2021 15:05

I'm so pleased my child gets to watch England in the final, regardless of the score! It's been fantastic to watch his excitement in the games, although I have no idea who he talks about most of the time.
I'm not a massive football fan, but I do love these games. Seeing most people so happy as well after the wins, it's really lovely to see.
I'm just ignoring the moaning threads on MN, they're just miserable Grin
