To wish England hadn't won (almost)

I'm not a football fan but someone who tends to get swept along during big tournaments and a few years ago would have been thrilled by last night's result.

This year I hate it. I think the team and manager seem great, but the booing during the other teams' national anthems is sickening and makes me utterly ashamed. Then you just know it'll be jumped on by Johnson (already has) and the victory, or even getting this far, will become part of his populism. Then there's all the covid cases that will be spread due to all the mixing in pubs etc, more than would have been the case anyway.

I just feel nothing for this country anymore after the events of the last few years. Latest bit of shit news is that my daily commute will now be shared by exhausted lorry drivers who won't have had breaks thanks to Brexit, so that's a cheery thought.

When is anything good going to happen that isn't sullied by this utterly shit governement?

@snoin

I will be supporting Italy, as nothing gives me more delight than seeing England lose. :)
Where do you live out of interest?

Quite a few are like this on here

IcedPurple · 10/07/2021 15:52

@suckingonchillidogs

You seem a bit obsessed *@snoin*, it's not healthy.
I'm sure this board will be chock full of the likes of *@snoin* gloating and cheering if England lose tomorrow. But it will hardly be a disgrace to lose to the team which many had tipped to win the tournament all along.

I wonder what reaction people would get if they went on to a (mostly) Italian forum and said how nothing gave them greater joy than seeing Italy lose? Especially if they lived in Italy themselves?

x2boys · 10/07/2021 15:52

In continental Europe apparently @MarshaBraydo according to the other thread🙄🙄

Oh good to see it’s so important we lose 🙄
snoin · 10/07/2021 15:54

I don't live in England (thank goodness) so I am under no obligation at all to even feel like I should support them at anything.

In an unnamed country I bet.

MN is full of people who delight in slagging off Britain/England and going on about how 'in my country' things are so much better. Ask them to name that country and they go all coy.

Hdhdjejdj · 10/07/2021 15:56

@snoin if you live in a different country, it’s quite normal not to support England. I mean, you do realise that? Confused

x2boys · 10/07/2021 15:56

So why post???

But why do you care so much?

Why does England's performance in a sport you profess to find 'boring' take up so much of your mental energy?

Tell us where you live and we can offer opinions on your country and its sporting record. Bet you won't.

Yet you hang around on a site with large amount of posters in England

If you are so happy not to have anything to do with us why would you? Don’t you have a nice one where you are

x2boys · 10/07/2021 15:58

Well quite @IcedPurple I could hazard a guess however on the unnamed country......

suckingonchillidogs · 10/07/2021 15:58

I'm guessing Germany or Croatia

snoin · 10/07/2021 15:59

I don't care about the sporting record of the country I live in. Doesn't bother me one little bit. I couldn't care if they win or lose - I just don't want England to win.

I do come from the island of Great Britain, but, it probably won't surprise you to know that I'm not English.

MarshaBradyo · 10/07/2021 16:00

I’m wondering who would post thank goodness after saying they don’t live here

What preoccupation they have with a country they so dislike. More than not just supporting a sports team

x2boys · 10/07/2021 16:01

Scottish then, figures 🙄

Just as well that you don't care if your country - whether Scotland or Wales - wins or loses at football. Because they almost always lose.

Most English people would probably support them except when playing England. They certainly wouldn't devote one fraction of your mental energy to wanting to see them lose.

suckingonchillidogs · 10/07/2021 16:03

Probably be a bit chilly for wine on your roof terrace if you're in Scotland or Wales tomorrow then

snoin · 10/07/2021 16:03

Yes, they do almost always lose - but I couldn't care less.

snoin · 10/07/2021 16:04

I don't live in Scotland. Haven't done for sometime.

As I said before, I live in continental Europe.

In fact you couldn't care less so much, that you are on two threads saying the same thing, sour grapes much 😂

Where do you live? Why the coyness?

I'd like to know so that I can avoid it. It must be incredibly dull if all you can find to do on a summer weekend is obsess over another country's performance in a sport you don't even like.

snoin · 10/07/2021 16:20

Unfortunately, I am having aircon installed at the moment, otherwise I'd be at the beach. If you don't like what I'm saying then simply move on and ignore - it won't bother me!

Clearly it does or you wouldn't keep posting, don't choke on those sour grapes.

You do seem rather desperate for everyone to know just how much you hate England and want them to lose however.

If I went on to a forum in your unnamed magical mystery land and said that nothing gave me greater joy than watching them lose, how would people react?

Hdhdjejdj · 10/07/2021 16:29

This is like me going on an Italian forum and saying I don’t want Italy to win. Which of course I don’t because I’m not Italian. Some people are huge attention seekers.
