How many women would choose the men’s facilities or the mixed facilities if there was a choice ?

Given there seems to be some support for the notion that we can disregard safety issues , i would be interested to know how many of us would choose the option of men’s or mixed sex facilities if there are single sex available, and if so why?
YANBU = this is a really good idea,
YABU = I won’t support such a potentially dangerous idea

Do you think there is no situation that could be dangerous for you as a woman?

Mark Francois' office?

sailmeaway · 06/07/2021 12:03

cannot speak to the brothel facilities...

'Do you think there is no situation that could be dangerous for you as a woman?'

Unlicensed taxi drivers.

Essentialironingwater · 06/07/2021 12:05

If full cubicles I don't care. I.e. no gap under or over like many newly renovated workspaces have now.

If nude spas or open changing rooms then definitely female only every time. A busy airport loo with no scope for perverts snooping, don't care.

cinammonbuns · 06/07/2021 12:05

@SetPhasersTaeMalkie absolutely agree. I don’t really get relating cubicle toilets to hospital ward or prisons. One your in and out in a few prison the others you can be there for years. Not really a fair comparison. And I am totally confused about the brothers and the Freemasons too Confused.

Marguerite2000 · 06/07/2021 12:05

I prefer single sex toilets.
I'm happy to use a unisex changing village, or single sex with cubicles. I never use communal changing rooms.

@Watchingyou2sleezes

Mixed toilets- blokes kissing here there and everywhere...

No chance

You've got a weird idea of what men get up to in public toilets I think.
Soontobe60 · 06/07/2021 12:07

@Backhills

I quite often nip in the gents when there's a long queue for the ladies. I am also aware that it's not OK if a man did the same in reverse.
If it’s not ok for men to ‘nip’ into the ladies, why is it ok for women to ‘nip’ into the men’s? Do you not think that men standing at urinals with their penis out would be uncomfortable if a woman were to enter? I know my DH would.
cinammonbuns · 06/07/2021 12:07

OP it seems you are not getting the answers you won’t and now are being up things unrelated to what you originally asked?

Also the voting is ridiculous and quote obviously biased.

MissChanandlerBong90 · 06/07/2021 12:09

The mixed sex changing room at one of my local leisure centres is not safe. Before the lockdowns there were reports of perverts trying to film women and girls over/under the cubicles every few weeks. Everyone knows it's not safe.

Yep. Peepholes were drilled at genital level in the cubicle walls of the family changing rooms in our leisure centre. I use them but stuff the holes with tissue before getting changed.

dannydyerismydad · 06/07/2021 12:10

Hospitals are a different issue altogether.

The fact that when you are sick, vulnerable, in pain, lacking dignity you're shoulder to shoulder with other humans with only a thin fabric curtain for privacy should be unacceptable.

I feel wards and at least bays should be single sex (if we have to have communal sleeping arrangements). I genuinely don't know where that leaves trans people. The situation is likely to be distressing for both them and others however it is made.

Thecatonthemat · 06/07/2021 12:11

Sorry ..just random thoughts about spaces used by men. I note that people have taken my question to be about toilets and changing rooms. So far those who wouldn’t use male or mixed facilities talk about privacy dignity and safety. Reply on taxis...agree. But is one seen as prejudiced if you avoid them?

@aLilNonnyMouse

As a disabled person I've had no choice but to use mixed facilities for over a decade now. I have no real problem with it.
But surely all disabled toilets are single use?
GoldenBlue · 06/07/2021 12:12

I thought mixed sex toilets would be alright until they put them in my department at work.

Twice I walked in to be faced with men urinating with the door to their cubical open for all to see. There was little embarrassment from the men.

I now walk a little further to the single toilet that is designated women's and disabled.

That was at work, from colleagues that I know well. I can only imagine the men in the general public would behave even worse. I have no desire to face embarrassment when I just want to use the bathroom.

Just provide enough toilets for everyone, with appropriate facilities and keep them separate for safety and dignity

shouldistop · 06/07/2021 12:13

I would only go into mixed toilets if I was about to have an accident and it had a shorter Q.

dannydyerismydad · 06/07/2021 12:14

Oh. And I have been attacked in toilets once. The perpetrator was charged with ABH.

The perpetrator was a woman. Just because spaces are single sex doesn't make them safe havens, unfortunately.

Thecatonthemat · 06/07/2021 12:14

cinnamonbuns I think I am getting exactly the replies I expected. And the poll results too.

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 06/07/2021 12:14

Horribly biased voting so have not voted and I do not think you can detail nuances in such a rudimentary way. I would used mixed sex or female only depending on the condition / busyness of the facilities.

I worked in a venue that switched from single sex to mixed sex facilities and incidents of harassment, pepping, holes drilled in cubicles etc went DOWN not up. We could only attribute this to increased footfall so more likely to be caught.

Toilets and changing rooms cannot be compared to hospital wards or prisons. Hmm I’m genuinely confused as to what you’re even trying to get at mentioning Freemason events and brothels tbh.

DeeCeeCherry · 06/07/2021 12:16

Single sex only if you mean non-cubicled.

Male entitlement and privilege is out of hand here, also underpinned by male-identified women who both consciously and subconsciously, put men's wishes first instead of their own.

I don't want to see a man parading around showing off his cock & balls, getting off on knowing women can't say a thing about it and are his captive audience.

& Don't say there are men who won't do that - they will. Because they can. Easy consequence-free indecent exposure at the expense of women and girls and I don't want to see their bits thanks.

sailmeaway · 06/07/2021 12:16

'Reply on taxis...agree. But is one seen as prejudiced if you avoid them?'

That can't be a serious question? Taxi-ist? Cab-ist??? I don't avoid taxis, I use a local firm that I trust, or the licensed city cabs...

Orf1abc · 06/07/2021 12:18

The poll results have no validity (either way), because your 'options' are the opposite way round to your question.

What a pointless exercise.

sailmeaway · 06/07/2021 12:18

'I don't want to see a man parading around showing off his cock & balls, getting off on knowing women can't say a thing about it and are his captive audience.'

30 years of using mixed facilities, including places where people are drunk or whatever, that's never happen.
I have been flashed in a local park though, in the middle of the day. And on a uni campus, again, middle of the day.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 06/07/2021 12:19

Should be all cubicles and then we’d have none of these problems.
