Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

What interests me is the posters who think all the good manners, courtesy, understanding, inconvenience, forbearance, giving of the benefit of the doubt, taking it in their stride, zen tolerance and kindness should flow from the OP.

This. The sense of entitlement and expecting others to bow to them is absolutely astonishing. How do people become like this?

sunglassesonthetable · 07/07/2021 23:48

You have. And it was pointed out that you’d have to pick it all up again when the car had driven away. It’s called cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Yep silly, but possibly so satisfying.

rantymcrantface66 · 07/07/2021 23:53

I think she was saying that Havering answered your original question at 9:10

Havering said I think the CF left some time in the evening before the CF neighbour’s DH got home.

@BlaBlaSmthSmth but I knew that. I'd read it just like I'd read every other post on the entire thread. My cross post comment was in relation to comments within seconds of each other later in the afternoon. My only fault was not remembering or somehow missing one certain detail so just wanted to clarify if that particular detail had been updated and I'd missed it or had not been updated and no one knew. I hoped someone had a better memory than I. Havering thought she knee but did not seem 100% sure, that was fine. So I then thought that's maybe what happened lol and went about my day. What's really ironic was the people then appearing and calling me out for not reading the thread when I'd clearly stated I'd read the thread and just missed a small detail. It's all just been a bit odd for a simple query and I'm sorry I ever asked 🤣

Is it parked illegally? Can it be reported as abandoned and dumped (don't know if that's a thing)

AdobeWanKenobi · 08/07/2021 10:58

Is it parked illegally? Can it be reported as abandoned and dumped (don't know if that's a thing)

Good plan.
Hello is that the council/Police/Marty Mcfly/Dr Who? A car parked on my drive two days ago and then moved again. Can you help?

sunglassesonthetable · 08/07/2021 11:22

@AdobeWanKenobi

I think poster was replying to this.

Itsmeagainandagain* There’s a car dangerously parked in my road, it’s been there for flipping weeks and weeks, caused so many near misses.

Not TWO DAYS. But thanks anyway.

SnitchyBitch · 08/07/2021 19:01

@chaosmaker Yes I’ve reported it 3 times but nothing has happened. It’s right on the junction so everyone turning in has to drive on the wrong side of the road.

chaosmaker · 09/07/2021 10:39

@SnitchyBitch you could check if it's taxed online and report it if it's not. They come and put a notice on it and then remove it. Think it takes a couple of weeks total.

ahoyshipmates · 09/07/2021 16:05

A car in a village near me was abandoned in a street and was there so long the neighbours held a birthday party for it and uploaded pictures on FB. Made the national press. The council moved it quite soon afterwards. Grin

Illogicalmadness · 09/07/2021 16:58

@awaywiththefae I"d love to know how the relationship between the original Cf & the cf neighbour turned out. It escalated and involved her husband blocking the road. I wonder if the cf friend will visit her friend again.

Xxxparisxxx · 10/07/2021 17:33

Do you need the space right now though? How much does it really matter? Has she blocked you in? If the answer is no to these questions I’d probably just carry on working and not care this much

SewingMum46 · 10/07/2021 17:36

We’ve had this. My aunt has dementia and lives in a house in a private development nearby with ac parking space outside. She clearly wasn’t able to use it herself but it was vital for the carers who started off going in once a day in 2017 and ended up in four shifts a day until she had to go into a care home last year. The ndn on one side has two cars and decided it was OK to use my aunts space rather than park on the street elsewhere. They were told many times by my 85 year old Dad, and by the residents committee, not to do so but kept doing it. Just after my aunt moved out dh and I went to empty the house and found their car in the space AGAIN. Because the house was empty they decided it was now their space despite it being clearly marked as private parking, outside my aunts house and on her deeds etc. My Dad caught the woman driving out and pointed at her and had a bit of a shout. She actually wound down her window and said “Don’t you dare point your finger at me!” Oh how I wish we’d blocked her in!

purplebunny2012 · 10/07/2021 19:21

Jo, the mobile site isn't letting me quote you, but you remind me of this lady (albeit she didn't own the space) because you want exclusive use of your space with no vehicle (and quite rightly) www.timeout.com/london/news/meet-the-londoner-who-turned-a-parking-space-into-a-public-garden-011718
Or when Sheldon had his unused parking spot reassigned at CalTech in Big Bang Theory

itsnotmeitsu · 10/07/2021 23:34

Our next door neighbour sold part of their large garden to a developer who also bought the bungalow adjacent. This plot is currently having eight 'buy-to-lets' and two semi-detached bungalows being built on that land. On the other side of our drive we have neighbours that operate a taxi and hire care service. They usually park a couple of mini-buses on the short part of the road that allows parking. They're parking legally, but still make it difficult to see the traffic when we're trying to come off our drive.

However, now the builders on the other side of our property park on double yellow lines and also the grass verge on the other side of the road. Yesterday there were five builders' vans parked in this area, and in the end, to get off our drive, I had to go across the road to indicate when it was safe to get our car off our drive. The builders are parking a few yards from a mini roundabout, on double yellow lines. I reiterate, they're parking illegally, but nothing's done about it.

The person saying," 'Do you need the space right now though? How much does it really matter? Has she blocked you in? If the answer is no to these questions I’d probably just carry on working and not care this much'." What if you actually want to get out of your own property in an emergency? > is it so unreasonable that you should be able to do that?

Well considering this happened 5 days ago… 🤣🤭

OP is the car still there???

Terhou · 12/07/2021 11:33

@SewingMum46, you can look at OP's posts to find out?

SewingMum46 · 12/07/2021 13:29

Her last message said the thread had been going on 5 days but didn’t actually say if the car was still there!

Bargebill19 · 12/07/2021 13:32

We no here message said that everything had happened five days ago. If you read the op messages using the see all button at the bottom of any of her posts, you can quickly read the whole saga in a few short posts.

Bargebill19 · 12/07/2021 13:33

Well no, her. ….

Wish that feature worked on the android app
Bargebill19 · 12/07/2021 14:49

Didn’t know that. I’m iPhone. Have you reported it to this site? If enough do, then maybe it either gets fixed or implemented.

But yep, the car has gone (after several hours) but relocated itself to another neighbours spot, not the person she was visiting empty drive…. Then left later that afternoon.

chaosmaker · 13/07/2021 00:05

@Biancadelrioisback if you just use the desktop site and not the app it works :)
