Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

Is this in front of your house - a driveway or is it a carpark nearby?

If DH is out then its not really inconveniencing you personally - although her attitude to you was crap and she is a CF'er.

@YouJustFoldItIn

Except this particular CF hasn’t actually inconvenienced anyone.

That's an outrageous attitude. It's a private parking bay that goes with the house and it's clearly marked as such. Just because it's not attached to the house doesn't make it okay to use it uninvited. It's no better than parking directly on someone attached private driveway.

No, it’s a perfectly sensible one, nothing in the least outrageous about it.

You spent all day on this OP. Did you get any work done?

Blackcat333 · 06/07/2021 18:37

I really wouldn't care if its a one off.

RTFT it's been answered

I think we're now at Cancel the Cheque stage with this thread!

Luckily.

But SHE doesn't know that. She's happy to risk inconveniencing someone. No probs to her.

sunglassesonthetable · 06/07/2021 18:55

I suppose CF car parker, by that thinking, should just crack on parking where it suits her, until the time it actually does inconvenience someone. Possibly badly. And only THEN should she be told.Hmm

Brennanlady1888 · 06/07/2021 19:09

Its outrageous that she took no notice people think they can do what they like it's an allocated space for number 30 and for your use only...

I'd go back and knock on the door as they will do it again believe me Nip it in the bud

jules0607 · 06/07/2021 19:10

I’d say “no” & write or print in large letters on at least one sheet of A4 “private parking space “ & stick it to their windscreen, facing inwards with lots & lots of little pieces of sticky tape. But I’d also drag my thumbnail across quite a few of them too, to get a nice tight edge seal.

Staffy1 · 06/07/2021 19:10

I’m guessing the note was written by the CF husband and left on the nice neighbour’s car, which was then moved by nice neighbour onto CF car when he moved his car.

sunglassesonthetable · 06/07/2021 19:14

@Staffy1 yep I think that's it

angelfacecuti75 · 06/07/2021 19:18

I work currently in the traffic management bit at a council . Someone said to me the other day that people call the police when they have someone block them in ....perhaps do the same x

She did. It wasn't a short, flying visit. She was still visiting when the OP's DH got home so would have been inconveniencing him had OP not moved her on.
Then she was still there when the nice neighbour got home and was unable to park.

So yes, she has actually inconvenienced people. Why are people still insisting that a temporarily empty space is fair game because no one is using it at the time they park?

HalzTangz · 06/07/2021 19:29

Just answer it, plead ignorance and say you don't know whose car it is

mathanxiety · 06/07/2021 19:33

Would a sensible doctor not inquire about parking before setting out on the palliative care call? If an urgent call, wouldn't it be even more sensible to find out what the parking situation was like?

dizzy125 · 06/07/2021 19:39

@lockdownalli yes!! 😂

berry271909 · 06/07/2021 19:44

I'm new to MN, only a couple of weeks on and I have cried laughing following this post. You are all magnificent!!! 😂😂😂

ShirleyDab · 06/07/2021 19:45

@ahoyshipmates

Kindness means everything right now Not to the CF who parked in the OP's marked space, it didn't.

@Backhills

Obviously I'm a misery guts with no sense of humour ,but well done OP, you've just created years of bad feeling in your neighbourhood, over something that caused you no inconvenience whatsoever.
Inclined to agree actually.

The neighbour and visitor could have had much better manners but I don't think this event was worth the bad feeling and resentment that will now be present for who knows how long!

Seems a shame over a parking spot but then maybe I am a cf Parker too 😉🤷‍♀️

MaMelon · 06/07/2021 19:51

There’s only two people in the street who are feeling any level or resentment or bad feeling - the rest of the street don’t GAF and are enjoying every minute of the deserved karma.

Oh my gosh I didn’t think this would still be going 🤣 I haven’t had much time today to catch up, too many meetings 😬

I thought I’d provide an update … Some time over lunch I noticed looked that CF neighbours car had also gone. So he would’ve definitely have seen the note.

Then later on whilst I was considering bringing the bin in between rain storms (how heavy was that rain!) I heard nice neighbour talking to what sounded like our postie so I went out to purposely try and catch him and speak to him. I felt like Pam from Gavin & Stacey “It’s the drama Mick, I just love it!” ☺️

So it wasn’t nice neighbour who wrote the note, which he saw and read, nor did he put the cone on the car, which he actually didn’t see but now is also wondering who did both.

He was gutted he had to physically be at work today or he said he’d have left his car there. 😆🤭 Apparently CF neighbour has allowed workmen to park their vans in nice neighbours spaces before and it was the last straw. We had a good giggle anyway.

There it is, no great ending I’m afraid, just more mystery!

I’m sure it will all unravel soon enough and I’m absolutely sure that CF neighbours must know nice neighbour owns the big black VW estate. If they didn’t they will notice it now, just parked around the bend! Haha! They must think the note and cone were him, or me! Well good, to be honest. Maybe they won’t act like our spaces are free for alls for their taking. I’m kind of disappointed that CF Parker didn’t really get any comeuppance but maybe someone did report CF DH’s car … that would’ve been funny.

Anyway thanks for coming on this CF parking journey with me. 🤣 It’s comforting to think I’m not the only one and that CF Parkers are out there still being CFs. If there are things certain in life I guess it’s death, taxes and CF Parkers.
