Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

Long time ago in a gym car park someone deliberately blocked a gym members car to teach them a lesson.
The owner of the blocked car was a big beefy fellow, him and 3 mates came out, picked up the blocking car and moved it

AnotherDayAnotherCake · 05/07/2021 17:44

Team nice neighbour!

Remoulade · 05/07/2021 17:45

When I lived more central, I had people blocking my drive daily. While we sometimes didn't need to get on or off the drive during those times, we also very often did. And how did these people know we didn't have a car in the garage? 🤷‍♀️
The people who park like this simply do not give a shit. They don't care that it will inconvenience you, they only care about themselves and their comfort, which is fine, as long as we aren't talking about things that belong to someone else, like a parking spot. They need to be inconvenienced back so that they think twice next time.

Also, really no difference me sticking my car in your drive for hours or rolling up my bbq on your front lawn to cook a hog roast. I'll just leave it there and come back in a few hours to collect it.

thenewduchessofhastings · 05/07/2021 17:48

Tbf the parking spots are private and belong to OP as they are on the deeds to the house.

It's not a mistake she's parked there as OP told her she couldn't park there as it's private;there's not even been a "I'm sorry or could I possibly park there if it's vacant I won't be more than 2 hours etc";I'm sure OP might have been kind and said yes if that was the case however this woman has completely ignored her and walked off and now the household the woman went into isn't answering;I suspect they've peaked out and saw it OP and deliberately ignored the door.

Please keep us updated with the outcome!

What a cheeky arsehole. I love your neighbour's style.

I had an allocated drive outside my previous house and my next door neighbour and her guests always used to park in it, or even more annoying, across the bottom of it. She used to say "you're not using it, so what's the harm?" I pointed out that she wasn't using her bathroom, but she'd be pretty put out if someone walk3d in and helped themselves to the use of that.

mbosnz · 05/07/2021 17:50

I blocked in people that parked on the driveway that three houses shared, including us and our elderly sick neighbours at the back. Given that when they were blocked in, they had no way of getting smartly away after having completed their drug deals, they soon learned not to do this, especially since we wouldn't hurry out to let them free.

Skatastic · 05/07/2021 17:51

I LOVE your neighbour blocking the drive hahahaha!! Cheeky fucker parking in other people's spots!

RedBonnet · 05/07/2021 17:52

Letting just one tyre down is much more effective than blocking in. Or maybe two tyres. No damage to car, they just need a foot pump lol. That's if they don't go to the effort of getting a spare fitted...

Kudos to your nice neighbour though, hope he leaves his car there for a good long while and doesn't answer his door.

Don't forget to stand outside with him and cackle when cf returns to her car 🤣🤣

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/07/2021 17:52

he drove past her and has driven over to the neighbours house and parked right across their drive!!

Superb!

Now that is a CF comment right there!
Biancadelrioisback · 05/07/2021 17:52

I'm just gonna park myself here and wait for an update

GlitterBiscuits · 05/07/2021 17:55

Maybe we should as MNHQ for a parking section?

ChocolateHelps · 05/07/2021 17:57

Shamelessly 'parking' myself here for an update 😎

sunglassesonthetable · 05/07/2021 17:59

I think I must be "a territorial drama queen" cos I want everyone home and at their spaces and CF neighbours and CF parker coming out plus some brick deliveries and a skip arriving ASAP before I need to start the tea.

championthewonderhorse70 · 05/07/2021 17:59

@HeidiHoNeighbour

Either block her in or slag the tyres but only like this
😂😂
ShirleyDab · 05/07/2021 18:01

What if your [4 bedroomed] neighbour's husband came home to find his driveway access blocked so went and parked in your other [3 bedroomed semi] neighbours parking space?
It could be check mate to 4 bedroomed husband.... Grin

HollowTalk · 05/07/2021 18:03

I just want to know what happens. The female neighbour is just as cheeky as her guest. The male neighbour is a hero.

championthewonderhorse70 · 05/07/2021 18:05

This is gold.
Can't wait for the next move

dapsnotplimsolls · 05/07/2021 18:14

Place your bets, who'll get home next - CF neighbour's OH or decent neighbour's OH?!

nocoolnamesleft · 05/07/2021 18:28

Why aren't all the wheelie bins blocking in the CF's car?

sergeilavrov · 05/07/2021 18:30

Never puncture people’s tyres. Then they’re stuck where you have to hear them complain. Instead, put a tiny piece of gravel in the air valve cap, and then they get a puncture a few miles away - plausible deniability.

awaywiththefae · 05/07/2021 18:33

Sorry was catching up on work emails 😬

All I know is that CF parking woman has gone and nice neighbours wife is back and in her spot but nice neighbours car is still parked across CF neighbours driveway. 🤣Not seen anything and DH has been looking out but not seen anything. Doesn’t look like CF neighbour’s DH is back yet (he drives a big Qashqai thing so I’d see it)

CF neighbour must have noticed though. Nice neighbours car is a big VW estate so she must see it 😆

I didn't say puncture them, that would be criminal damage. Just let the air out. And part of the 'fund of doing that is being able to watch them trying to solve the problem. You were stuck with them anyway while they were off visiting. I'd probably get a deckchair out and settle down with some popcorn lol
