Oh good, I'm delighted to see that Jay Rayner, an all round Good Person, also had something to say to Mrs Vine about her comments on the Millibands. She's an absolute delight isn't she? It's a shame to see such a well matched couple split.

herecomesthsun · 03/07/2021 17:26
@herecomesthsun
I assumed that the wedding was so that Carrie could attend the Summit as Boris’ wife.
I imagine it was considered from several PR angles, in all sorts of ways.

@sadperson16

Gove the creature who single handedly detroyed the hopes and dreams of little kids. Detroyed any shred of creativity and spontaneity with his ghastly Public School style nonsense. Academies, unqualified teachers, blazers, the house system, stupid pointless grammar lassons for fucking 6 year olds. Bastard.

Oh and fucked up the GCSE's and A levels while he was at it.

But made sure his own child somehow defied the odds and got into one of the most competitive schools in London........

If you google Jay Rayner Sarah Vine you will see they have previous. There is a very satisfying Twitter spat after JR called out Toby Young ( spit) for making spiteful remarks about Greta Thunberg , SV tries to muscle in on the action and JR floors both of them with a casual swipe from a well seasoned pork chop seasoned with a generous slug of teriyaki sauce. I heart JR and wish him and his new hip well.
Classica · 03/07/2021 17:44

I loved when Jay Rayner put Young and Vine in their place. Smile

longwayoff · 03/07/2021 17:50

Thank you viques, I shall look that up to take some vicarious delight in 2 deeply unpleasant people being properly marinated by JR before getting a good roasting. Heart him and his new hip too.

longwayoff · 03/07/2021 18:03

Oh that was deeply satisfying. And a reminder that Jay's mother, Claire Rayner, was a well known and much appreciated author, journalist and 'agony aunt', loved and missed by many. I hope I don't misquote that she wished to 'die at the age of 90, in bed, shot dead by a jealous lover'. Good woman.

Sylvan92 · 03/07/2021 18:05

I didn’t know Claire Rayner was his mum. I loved her. She was such a warm person.

felulageller · 03/07/2021 18:07

Hancock looks like the gay German officer from Allo Allo.

Classica · 03/07/2021 18:10

He does Grin

And Gove looks like one of the German baddies from Raider of the Lost Ark

Just read it. Stunningly good. Toby and Sarah deleted their posts directly afterwards.😆😆😆
Americam · 03/07/2021 18:50

@CantSayJack

This Michael Gove?

And SV has the nerve to gossip about other people and their marriages. She is a nasty witch and quite frankly the pair of them can get tae fuck. You reap what you sow.

I’m too scared to look properly at this picture in case aforementioned rumours of endowment can be confirmed.
sadperson16 · 03/07/2021 18:54

@Blossomtoes, no you are incorrect. How on earth could me be telling one person who I have known for years my thoughts on antidepressants be in any way the same as her printing a highly emotive and inaccurate article which lands on the metaphorical doorstep of a largely female audience.
I didn't whip out a piece of dodgy research by a discredited person either.
She was not merely giving an opinion or sharing her thoughts, she was irreponsibly hyping up the subject.

uncontrollable mood swings
overwhelming feeling of helplessness
kick my dependence
raging tinnitius
horrendous nightmares

Odisia · 03/07/2021 19:37

Just read the Jay Rayner comment. Well done that man. I loved him anyway, but I now love him more than ever.

SpringCrocus · 03/07/2021 20:20

Oh god, that photo!
Jay Rayner is fab, brought up by a super strong Feminist mum Claire Rayner, he is a credit to her and a fab man in his own right

Zilla1 · 03/07/2021 20:36

@Classica spot on with the Raiders. Still haven't forgotten PPs mentioning Penfold.

Zilla1 · 03/07/2021 20:39

@ancientgran, agree that would have been the compassionate approach. Could either be that compassion isn't at the forefront of their thinking or perhaps political execution by proxy of the press makes future relations (political, not the breaching social distancing kind) amicable in the future.

Zilla1 · 03/07/2021 20:41

It will be interesting what the leak enquiry/investigation into the video finds. I suspect it might be one of the Sir Humphrey kind - being seen to look for something rather than wanting to find it. The only leak enquiries I had insight into were very much the not wanting to find something, one of which was because the top of the shop already knew where the leak was from.

Re: 'Slinky'

Who can forget this photo?

Sadly not me, despite the regular mind bleaching

Now we know why your mojo has disappeared Grin
mathanxiety · 04/07/2021 06:27

If (as mentioned on this thread) Murdoch likes Gove and wants him as PM - why? Why Gove and not Hunt/Patel/Javed?

Maybe he doesn't have any dirt on any of the others.

mathanxiety · 04/07/2021 06:30

The only difference between you telling a friend and Sarah Vine writing about her experience is the size of the audience.

Bingo! The difference is what makes the difference.

Using your soapbox to spread misinformation about a category of drugs that make an enormous difference in the lives of millions is gobsmackingly irresponsible.

Grimacingfrog · 04/07/2021 06:45

@ReadySalt

This cheese speech? Dear me!

Goodness me she's execrable. I've rarely seen someone so lacking in charm and humour who actually thinks she's being witty and incisive. How could anyone actually suggest that they think saving the planet is a BAD THING. FFS.

And believing that people get to where they are purely on merit would stretch credibility to the limit when you look at the stats of public school entry in the top of business, politics and even acting! I've rarely seen anyone more self satisfied. I can see why she might be suited to one of the other people mentioned in this thread. If smugness could fuel space travel, we'd definitely be able to send someone to the outer reaches of the solar system with those two in harness 🤮.

Yep. She's absolutely foul and in the Portillo clip she admits that she's doing it deliberately. Funny she now wants privacy. Yuck.
sadperson16 · 04/07/2021 08:38

Thank you @mathanxiety.You have articulated what I couldn't quite work out.

Peregrina · 04/07/2021 09:04

Portillo in his time as an MP was a loathsome character, but he did rather redeem himself when he lost his seat and accepted with good grace. Somehow I can't see this the current crowd being gracious if the same ever happens to them.
