would you do this for your DH?

My DH has managed to get 9 points on his drivers license for speeding offences, I however in my 36 years have never managed any.

He asked me if I would have the next set of points put on my drivers license otherwise he will lose his license (in other words say it was me driving). I told him to f off and to learn how to stick to the speed limit- I can managed it so why can't he?

AIBU about this, he reckons 3 points on my license wont make much difference but I am in the process of having a CRB check done (applied to study nursing) and don't want any criminal offences although I know they don't take driving offences too seriously, but still.

He is in a major mood with me atm. AIBU about not wanting someone elses points on my license? especially as I haven't been the one speeding.

i would probably do iit as speeding can be 3 miles over 33 in 30 mile zone which is rediculous if it was a real difference then i would be in two minds

you will need to check who is in video as you dont want to then get in trouble for lying if they have captured him on camera

To ensure I keep at 30mph in a 30 zone all the time, I am now driving at about 27mph in case I do have to overtake or something....
and on the wide road I was 'zapped' by a mobile camera, I got overtaken the other day!!

chenin · 26/11/2007 15:57

I know you are right cod ... but hand on heart, I would say that there are tons of people on here who have gone 33mph, unknowingly, to maybe avert danger, or avoid something, or overtake. It is just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time for me.... and that happening twice is a bugger.

What about the little old ladies who drive at 40mph on the dual carriageway?

And thos who dont signal at roundabouts too, grr!

chenin · 26/11/2007 16:00

AND my insurance went up by over £100 boo hoo!

MamaD · 26/11/2007 16:23

You know I remember being told once that the police allowed 10% plus 3 on a motorway to allow for speedo differences......... so you could do 80 without being caught.

Thinking about it that can't be the case as dh got done at 77 - so was that an Urban Legend type thing - has anyone else heard it?

helliebean, happening twice is a real nause... probably part of the reason why I feel so sorry for dh (I wouldn't otherwise - and would be gleefully smiling and saying 'well stick to the bloody limit then darling, as I do ). I just don't understand why its 30 on that road (mind you is in an area with a very loony chief constable who is always in the press pushing the 'speeding is the worst crime in the world' line - whilst letting the drug abusers roam free)

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2007 16:26

MamaD, apparently that used to be the rule but now it is on average;
Exceeding the limit between 5 and 14mph - 3 points
Exceeding the limit between 15 and 19mph - 4 points
Exceeding the limit between 20 and 24mph - 5 points
Exceeding the limit between 25 and 29mph - 6 points
Exceeding the limit by 30mph or more - instant banned
Dependant on the police force that is dealing with it.

Habbibu · 26/11/2007 20:02

40 on a dual carriageway is ok, as you can overtake. The ones that drive me mad are those that do 40 in a 60 zone, and then STAY at 40 as we enter a 30 zone. This happens all the time on country roads where I live, and drives me mad. It is bad, and causes frustration, which causes accidents.

BUT - rubbish slow driving doesn't make speeding any less wrong or illegal.

THIS IS A THREAD FROM 2007 FFS.

Why is it being resurrected?

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 03/06/2010 13:42

In order to posit a completely hypothetical scenario and then mention people who got shot in totally unrelated circumstances, it appears.

3 points won't hurt your employment chances unless your work requires a clean license.

i probably would take the points (althugh really he should be v. careful about not speeding in order to avoid this being necessary) - think it is hard for them to do you for false dclaration as often i think people do not remember the day/time and honestly believe it was them driving....

bronze · 03/06/2010 13:52

My Dh has done this for me on his suggestion - no biggie, I know its now technically legal, but it HIS car, so he just signed as if it were him driving.

ShirleyKnot · 03/06/2010 14:04

MrSouthy. Sort yourself out for god's sake.
