I thought I had a forgotten about tampon “lost” within me, Googled and apparently it can’t get lost.

Husband tried to remove it (was really romantic 😳) and I eventually removed it except it wasn’t a tampon, I have accidentally removed my Mirena 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈.

I am waiting for 111 to call me back, I feel like such an idiot🙈🙈.

Bloody hell. Well, at least you won’t need the NHS now. 😳

I will never not be surprised at women who are so confused about their own anatomy they think tampons can get lost inside them, though.

Legoninjago1 · 27/06/2021 21:26

Wow - I just paid £125 to have mine removed privately as my GP doesn't do it!
Your DH could make a fortune. 😆

Hankunamatata · 27/06/2021 21:27

I pulled my IUD out with a tampon. Didn't feel anything.

Little graphic but easiest position for you to feel tampon would be on toilet, insert fingers and feel around for the tampon.

justchecking1 · 27/06/2021 21:27

No - I felt nothing .....

I did this once and also felt nothing. I'm always half tempted to advise women on here to have a go themselves when they complain it's months before they can get an appointment to have theirs removed, but I'm assuming it's not that easy for everyone?!

Briarshollow · 27/06/2021 21:29

Also you’re so lucky that it didn’t hurt!

I got referred to a consultant gynae to have mine out and she wrenched it out with such force and with no warning (the best thing in hindsight) that I leapt out of the stirrups. I was so shocked.

Which leads me on to the Caitlin Moran campaign about it being barbaric women endure gynae procedures without anaesthetic because historically old white men decided it didn’t hurt and therefore we didn’t need it. Hmm

Beetlebrooker · 27/06/2021 21:29

Jeez, I nearly shot through the roof having mine removed, those arms close with a giant snap!

Ah well, at least it's out now.

Wombat24 · 27/06/2021 21:36

I giggled and ejected the first one the nice doctor inserted and they had to do it twice...

Saves you a appointment!

WhatsErFace2020 · 27/06/2021 21:37

I didn’t feel a thing when I had my Mirena removed albeit by a trained professional however I do remember the mortification that I made my GP check if I had lost a tampon 😬 he acted as if I was despo for him to be routing around while I was legs akimbo!

I only went because my colleague told me her traumatic story of having a tampon over stay it’s welcome for 2 weeks and apparently the smell was unbearable by the end, she thought she had something seriously wrong with her until the A&E nurse Pulled it out 🤢 not envy

WhiskersPete · 27/06/2021 21:38

I pulled my own iud out. Didn't hurt at all. It was fine.

viques · 27/06/2021 21:39

@BaronessOfTheNorth

Haaaahahaa!! YANBU.

PS I have fainted every time I've had one inserted and it's been horrendously painful but never felt a single thing at IUD removal.

I once did this with a contact lens and pulled up part of my cornea.

Now that is pretty amazing rummaging. You must be very flexible! Grin
TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/06/2021 21:40

Well good to know should you ever break a cork trying to get it out of a bootle...

You know who to call... Wink

LavendulaAngustifolia · 27/06/2021 21:41

I pulled my iud out with my moon cup by accident. I think the suction worked a little too well. Didn't hurt at all.

MrsToothyBitch · 27/06/2021 21:59

As @UpSlyDown says, a medical chum says people remove their own more often than you'd expect and I've definitely read a post on here from someone who removed her own on purpose- and was fine.

I considered doing my own removal tbh, took me ages to arrange to get it out for various reasons. I was lucky, mine went in & came out easily. Genuinely surprised as I have a v low pain threshold!

MadKittenWoman · 27/06/2021 21:59

I had to have a general anaesthetic to remove mine!

Bingowingslikeashieldofsteel · 27/06/2021 22:03

I once removed a tampon while at work (in the loo obvs) and then realised in my hungover state that morning/or drunken state the night before I must have inserted two as I then found another one.

I still have no recollection or idea how the fuck I managed to have two in at the same time but it was the first time I ever had some understanding of the idea of forgetting you'd got one in...

randomkey123 · 27/06/2021 22:04

My cervix went into spasm when I had my last one removed, and I nearly passed out as it felt so utterly weird. Had to lie there with the nurse just watching me for nearly an hour until it stopped Blush

msby · 27/06/2021 22:05

I accidentally removed mine on the toilet two days after it was fitted. The next one twisted inside me and caused an infection. I didn’t bother with a third.

Wanttocry · 27/06/2021 22:06

I haven’t done that but did have to go to hospital to have them remove a tampon that had somehow got lost and I could not find for the life of me (no idea what happened to the string).

Menora · 27/06/2021 22:07

2 of mine fell out and I had to yank out the last bit dangling out
It didn’t hurt but I bled. Why do you need 111 are you bleeding or in pain? You just need a new IUD. They sometimes self expel anyway

When I was younger (older teen) I didn’t realise I had a split condom up there for a day. It really hurt and didn’t smell nice when it came out 🤢

blissfulllife · 27/06/2021 22:14

Least you had a string to rummage for. Anyone lost a condom up there? Now that's a faff to get out

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/06/2021 22:15

Yep. Done it. Had to go to A&E to get it removed.

Mortified. Bit so grateful to empathetic NHS nurses to get the damn thing out!

30degreesandmeltinghere · 27/06/2021 22:17

Left behind?
That would be your dignity op!!

modgepodge · 27/06/2021 22:17

I wonder if either of the eye people are my housemate at uni?! She drunkenly pilled sr the surface of her eye with tweezers trying to drunkenly remove a contact lense which was already out 🤢 never heard of anyone doing it before or since but this thread suggests it’s more common than I thought!

Fundays12 · 27/06/2021 22:18

Omg I just flinched and crossed my legs reading this 😱😳. Hope your ok.
