To ask if nose piercings on men are naff

Because my 20 year old ds is getting one tomorrow and I can't talk him.out of it.
Opinions pls.

Don't really like it on either sex but a few can pull it off

I think they look fine.
I don't really judge people over piercings, it's not something that bothers me at all!

I have a lovely rose gold nose ring.

Nice to know us Asians are naff, common and of lower class.

Being feminine is a bad thing is it?

So naff but he should be left to it. He can always take it out and it'll barely leave a scar. Mine didn't.

Of all the reasons to not think it’s a good idea ‘being too feminine’ is an odd one (I mean I wouldn’t do it because I think it makes you look like a pig at the market, or because when you realise it looks a bit silly you’ll be left with what looks like a massive enlarged pore on your nose forever that you can do fuck all about, or because if you catch it on something it’ll really hurt or rip your nose apart, or because you’ll have to clear out bogies that collect around the bit on the inside …).

I don’t like them on either sex and wouldn’t be happy if any of my DC got one - but his body and all that. Just encourage him to get one that doesn’t look like he’s got a bogey up there like my work colleague has - it’s a bit grim.

Plenty of people can’t stand nose piercings, just like plenty of people can’t stand tattoos (or any number of other things). Plenty of other people love them or think they’re cool. That’s what life is like.

Doesn’t mean I think the person is naff.

I don’t like them on anyone. They can look like a big spot if you aren’t that close.
That said with face masks I’ve hardly noticed anyone’s lately.
There’s not much you can do if your adult son wants one. It’s not like it’s irreversible and if he grows out of it/ gets bored he can just take it out.

Can't put my finger on why, but it rarely/never suits a man.

It’s fine, when he gets bored or doesn’t like it he can just take it out and it’ll heal up just fine and you can use it as a reason why he shouldn’t get a tattoo. I had lots of piercings and you wouldn’t know now.

Funny, because all the young men I know in their early twenties who have nose piercings are from middle class families, and have degrees from good universities. Unless of course you are upper class, then I guess they are of a lower class than you.
