Looks like we might need a new thread.

@Backhills

He's gone much quicker than I expected. Hopefully that means whatever he was supposed to distract us from will still come out. Who's actually seen the Track and Trace report out yesterday?
Hopefully yes. Unfortunately I have a feeling it will continue to serve as the very successful distraction that it's so far proved to be.

Oh the items are breaking fast now:

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/hancock-used-private-email-account-for-government-business-wrm33djfn

So now record of all those contract discussions with cronies on the record. Personal email accounts for gov business has been banned since long before Hancock got his snout in the trough.

jgw1 · 26/06/2021 19:29

@Clavinova

What on earth does Starmer’s opinion on Hancock have to do with anything?

I shall rephrase - does Keir Starmer have any opinions?

Can I ask your opinion on something that has been bothering me for some time.

The Prime Minister has kept in post a Secretary of State who he called hopeless and useless for more than a year. That Minister became a laughing stock and still the Prime Minister did not have the authority to sack him. Many would suggest that the Prime Minister should resign as well.

What would the Prime Minister need to do to that would mean that in your opinion he was no longer suitable to remain in post?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/06/2021 19:29

They should have been drafted a lot better. Matt Hancock has quite a few errors in it

No doubt, but in fairness it was a veritable masterpiece compared to his speech

And yes, Clavinova, I'm aware of what Zahawi said after he was caught out, just as I read what he said after getting busted with the expenses - but then, to borrow that old phrase, "He would say that wouldn't he?"

Fascinating, though, to find that at least someone still has faith in these people - almost touching really

Who gives a shit? This is nothing to do with Starmer. I suppose we should be grateful you’ve caught up and stopped saying “What about Corbyn?”

And the Prime Minister kept him in post knowing this. The mind boggles.
RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/06/2021 19:31

@Blossomtoes

What if anything could the Prime Minister do that you think he should resign for?

He could roast and eat Wilfred under Clavinova’s nose and she’d still support him.

As Cam22 said, good day all round.

I've had popcorn in hand all day long reading this thread. Clav will indeed support BJ and his utterly despicable cabinet even if he are his own son. I feel like it's the pied piper, the emperors new clothes and gas lighting to the extreme all in one go. I hope I'm going to wake up from this fucking mad dream soon. And I hope that Hand Cock going is the start of the worm turning. I will not be happy if Gove, Williamson or any of the rest of the slimy fuckers are behind this and benefit from it. I will be happy if they all rot in hell.

TheoMeo · 26/06/2021 19:31

OMG this in the Sun ---- what a rat!
MATT Hancock told his wife he was leaving her on the the night his affair was revealed, it was reported.

In his resignation statement, the former Health Secretary said he needed to spend more time with his children but pointedly didn't contain an apology to his wife.

I wonder what bad news is being buried this weekend?
RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/06/2021 19:32

*ate

Tealightsandd · 26/06/2021 19:32

Buried very successfully.

LucindaT73 · 26/06/2021 19:34

@DysonSphere

Are they going to be together? Get married to each other in a year or so and put a new respectable shiny spin on it? Get it covered in the press and splashed on the cover of Hello and Tatler magazine a la Boris style? Will the bride be clad in Boho chic?

I mean where else is either of them going to go now, except to each other?

Boris and Matt?

Or Matt and Gina?

Historically, the wives stay with their husbands. As far back as I can remember, none left other than Robin Cook's wife and she went off and found a toy boy on holiday.

Norma stayed with John.
Prescott's wife stayed
Paddy's wife stayed
Jeremy Thorpe all those years back, his wife stayed.
Clinton's wife stayed

and so the list goes on....

Blossomtoes · 26/06/2021 19:38

Martha’s already moved out @LucindaT73.

Tealightsandd · 26/06/2021 19:38

They don't always stay with the wives or husbands. Admittedly they only apparently started dating after his divorce (very soon after) so possibly slightly different, but George Osborne is engaged to be married to his former aide. They're expecting a baby too.

Felifox · 26/06/2021 19:40

You cannot be seen to be breaking rules that you have been a party to be implementing. It only reinforces my opinion of Boris Johnson as an incompetent and inadequate Prime Minister. God help us if we don't get rid of him

He's breaking out The Script.

It's all my wife's fault, she takes over at home, she had no time for me, I've been unhappy for years, OW understands me etc etc etc.

Give it time, he'll be marching up and down the street with no shirt on yelling that "she's turned the weans against us".

I bet he'll be a right prick to divorce too.

@Clavinova

While I think that’s a valid criticism of Starmer (of whom I am not a fan), I still don’t see the relevance of it to Hancock.
C8H10N4O2 · 26/06/2021 19:44

I wonder what bad news is being buried this weekend?

The emails could well be the object of the distraction - I would be astonished if Cummings and many others did not know that illegal meetings/exchanges were happening.

Depending on where they were potentially the police would have to be involved rather than avoid the issue (which tends to happen where its politicians involved).

That's not the same at all. He/they announced their divorce a long time before he married someone else.

And he was never caught having an affair.

LucindaT73 · 26/06/2021 19:47

OMG this in the Sun ---- what a rat!

I think it's best to take anything in the Sun with a tonne of salt.

Someone? Were you touched by the fact that Zahawi won 60% of the constituency vote in the 2019 general election? Quite a vote of confidence I would say if he was 'caught out' in 2018.

Tealightsandd · 26/06/2021 19:49

The police are already involved aren't they? Investigating how the footage leaked.
There's been a report to the Met over a possible breach of the official secrets act.

But no. The bad news being buried is most definitely nothing to do with Matt Hancock's private life, nor his email address.

LucindaT73 · 26/06/2021 19:50

@Blossomtoes

Martha’s already moved out *@LucindaT73*.
Did she tell you that @Blossomtoes?

Do keep up.

She's at home and her Mum is staying with her. Maybe look at the photos online?

It's Gina who has moved out and Hancock is supposedly in his Suffolk home.

Tealightsandd · 26/06/2021 19:51

With George Osborne. It wasn't a long time after the divorce. It was fairly soon after.

Over in France, Macron's wife left her husband for him.

ancientgran · 26/06/2021 19:51

Sajid Javid gets the job.
