AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

Use procedure otherwise it’s easy to dismiss. It already has been.

Can you give us an idea of what procedure could realistically have achieved a different outcome here?

ancientgran · 25/06/2021 18:57

@MarshaBradyo

AncientGran I’m not happy for them to but have outlined why I hand responded as I did in post to Regulus

To me government and media are accountable. And I think I’d like better from both. Use procedure otherwise it’s easy to dismiss. It already has been.

Isn't it the duty of the press to expose corruption? They are doing their job, I wish they did it more thoroughly and more often but I don't think I would criticise them for doing it.
ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 18:57

Can you imagine working for a man like that? It might be Boris/Cummings who set him up or it could have been a really fed up employee.

That reminds me of this now famous (and soon deleted) tweet which came from the Civil Service account during Johnson's press conference defending Cummings' Barnard Castle antics.

@CoalCraft

I don't like the guy but I really couldn't care less about this sort of thing. Would rather the media just shut up so as not to humiliate his wife and kids.
Surely it is Hancock who is humiliating his wife and children?
2389Champ · 25/06/2021 19:08

I can’t believe his cronies are rallying around him and saying this is a “private matter”! My mother and MIL’s deaths last year were also “private matters” and yet HIS government dictated that my family couldn’t give either of them a decent funeral.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 25/06/2021 19:09

'snatch some happiness' Grin
Like they're bloody Romeo and Juliet!
Never mind those pesky spouses and kids eh?

supermoonrising · 25/06/2021 19:10

The only logical reason to not fire a pretty crap health secretary who has just broken lock down rules while banging his aide in government office is because he knows stuff that BoJo the Clown and Friends would rather he doesn’t spill.

Ancient maybe so. But I’m wondering is it legal? Going by the Gdpr below. Should they use legal means to do their job? The media is hugely powerful so as long as it’s a story that exposes is that ok

I don’t think it is. But then I’m not entirely sure what has been overridden or how they got this and the WhatsApp message.

Maybe it is ok idk but atm it’s MH sleaze, but could be anything from government if it is ok

The Eton lot hold the public in contempt

@UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa - I am so gutted for you a thread about Matt Hancock filled up in a day

TSSDNCOP · 25/06/2021 19:15

I don't think our Government thinks about the public at all. Unless there is an election.

babbi · 25/06/2021 19:17

@musicalfrog

My god. There are TWO women willing to snog him and he found them both? What are the chances. Confused
@musicalfrog. This made me really chuckle during a very bad day 🤣
GCAcademic · 25/06/2021 19:17

@Nothingyet

There is a lack of sympathy here. He and his aide were engaged in a daily battle saving lives, FGS! Is it wrong for a man and a woman to fall in love? And to try to snatch some happiness in such circumstance?
You're right.

It's a romance for our times. So beautiful. I bet the Hollywood machine is already revving up to make the movie.

BiscoffAddict · 25/06/2021 19:17

Matt Hancock didn’t go to Eton. He went to Kings in Chester as a day pupil, and before that his local village primary.

TheoMeo · 25/06/2021 19:18

At 8pm on Radio 4 -
Any Questions?
Robert Jenrick MP cons, John Nicolson MP SNP, Alastair Stewart journo, Emily Thornberry MP Labour (shadow sec for state)

Might be interesting.

if Jeremy Hunt had become leader at least 10,000 more people would be alive today. Indeed you could say the same about most of the other Tory leadership candidates, or if David Cameron or Theresa May were still Prime Minister.

Yet you can't say that Jeremy Hunt was one of worst health secretarys until current one.

It's different snipping from Sides until you have job.

Matt Hancock is useless but so was hunt.

TSSDNCOP · 25/06/2021 19:18

Maybe next week at their audience HMQ could sympathise with another one of them though. It clearly riled someone up enough to dump the shite.

Please let it be Williamson.

HMQ: poor Mr Williamson
Hand holding shite: BOOM 💩

happycamper3 · 25/06/2021 19:18

I think we should all stand on our doorsteps and bang pots and pans at 8pm as a protest until he stands down

stobartstruck · 25/06/2021 19:19
Shock
GCAcademic · 25/06/2021 19:19

I cannot unsee that meme. I wish I could.

Blacktothepink · 25/06/2021 19:21

I see the Tory bots are out in force 🙄

Why?
At least 3rd of the country didn't follow rules, I recall this being announced back in May last year at one of the press conferences.
At the end of the day we are all human, all make mistakes and not one of us is perfect

No you can't say that. Completely unsubstantiated that another 10,000 would be alive...source?
