AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

It’s the principle…they’ve been after him for weeks and have now thrown her and her kids under the bus to get what they want.

She got together with a high ranking member of UK government, she threw herself and her kids under the bus.

@Bananamilkshakes21

I categorically hope that MH digs his heels in and sticks with the job and part of me thinks this is why his wife is still wearing her wedding ring because I would be too in her situation.

The media and some other people somewhere have waged a campaign against this man for months. It’s reminiscent of the way Harry was treated.

Some areas of the press and whoever else decided he wasn’t liked and every single day there were vile, negative headlines printed effective forcing him out.

It was the same for Brexit…vile scaremongering headlines, biased reporting etc, demonising people for their views.

Something at the heart of the establishment and media in this country is very rotten and sinister.

If MH has broken the rules at work which I’m sure he has he should be investigated. But accepting this personal story and his family as collateral damage in a cynical attempt to push him out is the latest in a series of completely undemocratic events that are happening in this country.

I have no sympathy for the man it’s his own fault but I feel desperately sad for his wife and family.

In the end nobody cares if he’s having an affair…his wife might even have known about it and accepted it…what I care about is that somebody is clearly trying to push him out and I am getting sick of being ruled by the media and other hidden entities in this country who think they can print nasty, bullying stories to get the outcome they want.

It’s actually quite terrifying.

I despair, I really do.

Regardless of what you think about the press, the fact is that Hancock is plainly incompetent at his job, is utterly corrupt and now it is revealed that he has been having an affair at his place of work with a women he gave a job to out of sheer nepotism.

We should demand more from the people supposedly running the country at our expense. Hancock gets paid 141k a year from our fucking money, and people are still prepared to forgive him for everything and anything. It's fucking unbelievable.

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2021 17:38

Some people only call them the 'gutter press' when it suits them ...

You’re happy with this trend in reporting then? Or not.

You’re also making assumptions which is silly. This thread is about MH not that list Hmm

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 25/06/2021 17:41

Thing is, MH has had his nose in all our business for the last year, telling us where we can go, who we can see, who we can hug and shag, or not. People have been fined for doing less than him. Even without all the additional contract scandal, people are allowed to be incredibly pissed off. If I was Neil Ferguson I'd struggle to say nothing right now.

PeridotPenelope · 25/06/2021 17:41

No sympathy for him here either. He was in a very privileged position as Health Secretary. An incredible career opportunity as a politician and a fat pay check enabling him to live a secure and comfortable life.

He blew it.

All politicians know that if they don’t behave professionally, or morally, there is a very real risk they will be exposed in the media and lose their privileged position and potentially their family too.

Twit.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 25/06/2021 17:43

And yes, he might be the govt scapegoat but he's certainly provided them with ammunition

Bluethrough · 25/06/2021 17:43

@MarshaBradyo

Banana you make good points, it’s very trial by gutter press.
Hilarious!

Gets his chum a job, screws them, cheats, gives work to his lovers brother, Hancock himself held Ferguson to very high standards.

Hancock has broke the rules, possibly even the law.

Yet its the "Gutter Press's fault"

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 17:44

Neil Ferguson is most likely pouring himself a big old glass of schadenfreude this evening.

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2021 17:45

I think he’s an idiot and I don’t really care about his private life as others do

But yeah I agree with Banana this feels sordid and even though people seem to love it I’d prefer we were not ok with a campaign against someone - the WhatsApp then this

People ‘hate’ him I get it. Still depressing though.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/06/2021 17:46

@Bananamilkshakes21

It’s the principle…they’ve been after him for weeks and have now thrown her and her kids under the bus to get what they want.

Whoever ‘they’ are…they are undermining democracy in this country, influencing politics in the worst way, and this sort of thing needs to stop.

Things are getting increasingly corrupt and dirty from what I can see….

I’d stand up to the bullies first out of principle and deal with him later.

Undermining democracy you say? Like Cambridge Analytica? Hmmm
Bananamilkshakes21 · 25/06/2021 17:47

He is undoubtedly a twit and I have no sympathy for him at all.

It’s the principle of what’s happening in the media that I’m deeply concerned about so I think on that basis he needs to stick with it and show them they can’t win.

It’s down to bojo to decide if he wants to sack him…which I’m surprised he didn’t tbh although he’s hardly a beacon of morality so he wouldn’t want to be called out for being a hypocrite. If people aren’t happy with the government or an MP they will express their views with their vote.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that the wife threw herself under the bus by marrying him.

ancientgran · 25/06/2021 17:47

The "gutter press" didn't make him give her a job, contracts for her brother or even grope her in an office. He gave them the ammunition, he has no one to blame but himself. I have zero sympathy for him. I did last year as I thought they were setting him up to be the fall guy but this he did himself with a little co-operation from his old friend.

Nothingyet · 25/06/2021 17:48

There is a lack of sympathy here.
He and his aide were engaged in a daily battle saving lives, FGS!
Is it wrong for a man and a woman to fall in love?
And to try to snatch some happiness in such circumstance?

Gilmoregale · 25/06/2021 17:48

I loathed Thatcher with a vengeance, but this lot are way beyond anything her chumps ever did. I just don't understand how those who repeatedly vote this lot into power, and keep making excuses for them, don't get that by doing so that they are condoning, or at least turning a blind eye to, adultery, lying, sleaze, incompetence, materialism to the exclusion of all else, and even inhumanity, or, at best, utter indifference to those who weren't clever enough to be born into the same class.

(And yes, I know it isn't only the Tories who sleep around, lie, and give lucrative contracts to their mates even when they have no experience in the particular area, but they do seem to have turned it into an art form.)

No, Marsha - My point is that it's been going on for decades and some of you seem to have only just noticed!
MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2021 17:50

It’s the principle of what’s happening in the media that I’m deeply concerned about

Yes people are lapping it up. It’s not about him to me, I don’t care what he does. The media used to do more of this and it seems to be stoking up again.

Anyway there’s the demand for it, as per this thread. So I’ll accept I’m in the minority.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/06/2021 17:50

And filter off a couple of Mil for his friends and family while he's at it?
ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 17:51

Johnson couldn't bear the hooting that would ensue if he, the great philanderer, sacked Hancock for this. Also, I read on Twitter today that he's still annoyed at Michael Howard having made him resign for lying about his affair with Petronella Wyatt.

'snatch some happiness'

is that what they call a fumble in the stationery cupboard these days?

Not fault but definitely part of the manipulation.

The press shoukd have researched this yonks ago. Most of the connections seem pretty evident if you were looking.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 25/06/2021 17:55

@ScribblyBaller

I wish I'd known 'happiness' was just behind the post it notes and biros!

mbosnz · 25/06/2021 17:56

The people engaged in a daily battle saving lives, were the frontline workers, particularly of the NHS.

Not the ones seeking to exploit their position to line the pockets of themselves and their cronies, and grabbing a bit of fucking nookie while they were at it.

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 17:58

@youvegottenminuteslynn, you too could snatch some happiness if you just lurk by the reams of A3 paper for long enough!

Lol it sounds like a Barbara Cartland bodice ripper.
