Matt Hancock affair

AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

In the end nobody cares if he’s having an affair

The fuck they don't.

Actually, there are rather a lot of us who are very concerned that he's having an affair with a lobbyist who he gave a job to. Because it's corrupt and nepotistic. And we are right to do so. The pretence otherwise is risible.

It's perfectly possible to also think this has been revealed for a nefarious reason and have concerns about that whilst not deluding yourself that Hancock isn't all the way in the wrong here.

ByTheHarbour · 25/06/2021 17:59

@Nothingyet

There is a lack of sympathy here. He and his aide were engaged in a daily battle saving lives, FGS! Is it wrong for a man and a woman to fall in love? And to try to snatch some happiness in such circumstance?
Nothing wrong with it at all, except... that legislation was in force at the time, signed by him personally, making it illegal for non-cohabiting couples to be together indoors.

It's totally ridiculous and completely unacceptable that that was ever illegal (and it never has been in most countries) but in England at that time was. And he was the person who had made it so. Hoist by his own petard.

Againstmachine · 25/06/2021 18:00

I think he’s an idiot and I don’t really care about his private life as others do

It isn't just about his personal life, he's gotten his mistress a pretend job, given her brother a load of NHS contracts.

His mistress is in as deep as him and frankly it's disgusting and vile that people are defending him.

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2021 18:01

Hilarious!

Gets his chum a job, screws them, cheats, gives work to his lovers brother, Hancock himself held Ferguson to very high standards.

Hancock has broke the rules, possibly even the law.

You’re ok with this kind of reporting? Released cctv footage, public knowledge which his wife will deal with, I saw she was also papped going to the car.

I mean I know you are. But wouldn’t you prefer something less grotty. Maybe not. I’ll leave you all to it though!

blackwych · 25/06/2021 18:01

He and his aide were engaged in a daily battle saving lives, FGS!

Is that you, Matt?

DysonSphere · 25/06/2021 18:02

The word sleeze is becoming synonymous with politicians. Particularly Tory politicians. I had hoped that at LEAST they'd be good handling of Brexit and an able hand with the economy, but now all I see is a group of privileged and spoilt people giving each other nepotistic backhanders, bullying, cheating, philandering, back stabbing, awarding favours for friends, ministerial code breaking, money grabbing, incompetent individuals.

And it's allllllllllll good as long as you just say sorry!!Angry

Yes Labour MPs have cheated and had scandals as well so not just a Tory trait.

Like I said I don’t think he will get sacked. I wish he would resign though .

ButteringMyArse · 25/06/2021 18:04

I hope we're not equating released CCTV footage from a government building we all pay for and papping a person who's done nothing wrong. They're not remotely equivalent.

OverByYer · 25/06/2021 18:07

He’s a disgrace.
If I behaved like that at my place of work I’d be disciplined.
He is the minister for Health in the middle of a pandemic and he has time to be snogging his ‘aide’ in works time.
Also her appointment in such a prominent post stinks. This government is so corrupt they make me sick.
And of course the PM supports him as he too has no morals either.

TankFlyBossW4lk · 25/06/2021 18:07

I have absolutely no sympathy for Hancock here. It's shocking the level of corruption of this government. His OW was given a post as a non executive director at the Dept. Of Health.

Zerrin13 · 25/06/2021 18:07

I just find it baffling that this man has managed to command the attention of 2 real alive woman

AdoptedBumpkin · 25/06/2021 18:12

Looks like he's not even decent enough to resign.

I don’t know are ‘we’.

What is the situation of data protection for cctv footage out of interest. Is it anything goes?

Same as WhatsApp messages - fine with someone releasing anything

Someone has an agenda and the people being played are the public. Not sure it’s beneficial to us though.

They can only report on what happens.

If Hancock is unhappy about pictures of him groping some woman's arse appearing on the front page of the sun, then just don't fucking do it in the first place.

It's not hard.

mbosnz · 25/06/2021 18:13

I'm just picturing Johnson, 'Matt, with a heavy heart, alas, I think you need to do the honourable thing and resign'.

Matt, 'hysterical laughter, you've got to be fucking kidding me, you hypocritical ass'. . .

tara66 · 25/06/2021 18:14

I was sent a you gov questionaire about him today - it showed results that most people (73%) disliked his behaviour and thought he should go

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/06/2021 18:15

@blackwych

Was it a daily battle on a bed?.
ButteringMyArse · 25/06/2021 18:20

I don’t know are ‘we’.

I'm certainly not, but perhaps you might clarify whether you understand there's an absolutely vast moral distinction between the two?

What is the situation of data protection for cctv footage out of interest. Is it anything goes?

Don't know.

Not sure it’s beneficial to us though.

There is no legitimate argument that we'd be better off if this level of corruption continued to be hidden. Hancock was playing the public in appointing this woman.

Obviously it's also a strong possibility that whoever was responsible for revealing this story has dodgy motives too. The one doesn't preclude the other.

eddiemairswife · 25/06/2021 18:23

The Tories should have chosen Jeremy Hunt as their leader.

BlowDryRat · 25/06/2021 18:26

Apologies if this has already been shared.

Matt Hancock affair
Legoandloldolls · 25/06/2021 18:27

Jeremy Hunt must thank God every day for the last 16 months he didnt get the job

DysonSphere · 25/06/2021 18:27

@TankFlyBossW4lk His OW was given a post as a non executive director at the Dept. Of Health.

Worse still.Angry

newnortherner111 · 25/06/2021 18:28

@eddiemairswife if Jeremy Hunt had become leader at least 10,000 more people would be alive today. Indeed you could say the same about most of the other Tory leadership candidates, or if David Cameron or Theresa May were still Prime Minister.
