Care label says ‘mother can do it’

Raging but being laughed off by others when I’ve shown it so I’d like opinions please! School uniform care labels says ‘or give it to your mother she knows how to do it’.

Yes it’s funny. Lighten up. There’s more important things to get angry about

FortunesFave · 20/06/2021 14:38

RickiTarr that's so funny! Bernard Manning was the first person I thought of when JellyTumble said that. Is this you Jelly?

Like your poor grammar?
RickiTarr · 20/06/2021 14:39

Well maybe OP is winding us up, maybe she’s on the level. Doesn’t really matter.

She said “school approved uniform supplier”, though, and if that’s true it’s not a great message to give kids. Not the sexism, nor that you can still do bigotry if you disguise it as “jokes”.

Majorfluff · 20/06/2021 14:40

My brother doesn't have a clue how to use washing machine and takes it round mum's to wash and iron, this would encourage him more.

It is, hun Grin
Oneborneverydecade · 20/06/2021 14:42

@EllieStartingOver mine too! In a cafe on Friday the lovely lady behind the counter said to my DD "your mummy's hoover" (random but relevant to the conversation) if I'd have been drinking tea I'd have spat it out. Hoovering and laundry are definitely my DH's domain

RickiTarr · 20/06/2021 14:43

Well if that’s how you’re happy to be known. 🤷🏻‍♀️

LynetteScavo · 20/06/2021 14:44

If it's in an overpriced sweatshirt aimed at a twenty something with more money than sense, it's funny.

In school uniform, it's not at all funny.

Was it really in school uniform OP? Which company?

KatharinaRosalie · 20/06/2021 14:44

The label actually says SHE KNOWS HOW TO DO IT
Not MOTHER CAN DO IT

The label clearly says GIVE IT to your mother. Not ASK your mother.

GintyMcGinty · 20/06/2021 14:45

Good that's awful

FortunesFave · 20/06/2021 14:45

JellyTumble I can just picture you. So pleased with yourself.

Yeah, I think that’s fair comment.
MotherCanDoIt · 20/06/2021 14:51

For those of you doubting the authenticity of the label, I cropped the image to remove the uniform so it wasn’t identifiable. I’ve re-cropped it to include my fingers….I hope that’s enough to call off the hounds!

MotherCanDoIt but why won't you name the manufacturer?? Confused

DrManhattan · 20/06/2021 14:52

Not so nice for kids who don't have a mum

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/06/2021 14:53

The uniform wont be identifiable from the inside.

WorraLiberty · 20/06/2021 14:54

So why would he be reading the washing label?
BelterDelta · 20/06/2021 14:57

Not funny. A child in my child’s class recently loss his mum and another has this week been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Ffs.

@MotherCanDoIt

I think I’m having a sense of humour failure, how is it funny to say this?!
Yes you are having a sense of humour failure. Lighten up a bit!
MotherCanDoIt · 20/06/2021 15:03

@FortunesFave and @TooBigForMyBoots it is identifiable from the inside annoyingly and I don’t want to post the company here.

This is also what I thought after the blatant sexism. DS’s best friend lost his mother when he was 8. I can quite see his dad checking laundry labels on his steep learning curve of being a widowed single dad.
Moonwhite · 20/06/2021 15:04

So what's the brand?

It's an old joke anyway. A South Korean fashion label used to release clothing labels with "Fuck it, just give it to your mother" as the care instruction.

RickiTarr · 20/06/2021 15:04

The bereavement/motherless angle is even worse.

MotherCanDoIt · 20/06/2021 15:05

Well in many ways I’m glad I posted as it seems to have split the crowd. Don’t get me wrong I laughed at first, stopped and then thought ffs yet another example of misogynistic shite. I’d shrug it off if was in a branded shop but it’s the fact my DC will be wearing it and simply cutting the label out won’t solve the issue of it being on hundreds of other children at the same school.
